Abstract

Gastronomic tourism plays an important role in enhancing the attractiveness of tourist destinations by offering unique and authentic culinary experiences. This study aims to understand the motivations of tourists in choosing Pasar Lama, Tangerang City, as a culinary tourism destination. A qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and direct observation was used in this study. The results showed that the main motivations of tourists were curiosity about typical local food, different culinary experiences, and the opportunity to understand regional culinary culture. The quality of the dishes, menu diversity, and market atmosphere also contributed to tourist satisfaction. However, challenges such as infrastructure, consistency of food quality, and cleanliness still exist. This study provides insights for destination managers and the community to develop Pasar Lama as a sustainable culinary tourism destination, as well as contributing to the preservation of local culture and improving the economy of the local community.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The main problem in this study is whether the service quality and grooming of tour guides influence tourist satisfaction at the Istano Basa Pagaruyuang Tourism Object. This study aimed to determine the effect of service quality and grooming of tour guides at the Istano Basa Pagaruyuang tourist attraction. The method used in this research is a quantitative research method. The data collection technique was carried out by filling out a questionnaire. The number of respondents is 100 people. The data analysis technique used is a validation test, reliability test, normality test, multiple linear regression analysis, partial t-test, simultaneous f test, and test of the coefficient of determination. The study results show that the service quality variable partially influences tourist satisfaction. However, the tour guide Grooming variable does not control tourist satisfaction variables. From the results of the f test, it is obtained that the variables of service quality and grooming simultaneously affect tourist satisfaction.

Abstract

Lowita Beach was a tourist area in Suppa District, Pinrang Regency, with 11 tourist attractions. The annual increase in visitors to Lowita Beach can compromise tourist comfort and damage the area's natural habitat. This is the basis for researchers to analyse the Physical Carrying Capacity (PCC) of Lowita Beach. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of tourist activities, assess the physical carrying capacity of the area, and formulate the role of tourist villages in managing the Lowita Beach area. The research approach used was research and development, as initiated by Borg and Gall: the calculation of Physical Carrying Capacity (PCC), area parameters, and the number of tourists. The study population comprised 93 tourists who visited the Lowita Beach area. Data was collected through the completion of questionnaires, interviews, measurements, and field observations. A quantitative-descriptive approach was used for data analysis. The Physical Carrying Capacity (PCC) analysis reveals that Lowita Beach's ideal capacity is 1 visitor per day, yet it currently hosts an average of 35 visitors daily, significantly surpassing this threshold. This overcapacity indicates that the beach is experiencing environmental strain and underscores the need for management strategies to align visitor numbers with sustainable limits. In conclusion, despite the physical carrying capacity (PCC) of Lowita Beach being 17 visitors per day, the present daily visitor count suggests that the beach is currently facing overcrowding, albeit not to a significant extent. Hence, it is necessary to implement policy interventions from the tourist villages of Tasiwalie and Wiringtasi, which should include the establishment of standardized operating procedures and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, in order to ensure sustainable tourism management at Lowita Beach.

Abstract

Social media influencers significantly shape travel trends and traveler behavior in the digital era. This study explores the dual role of social media influencers in the sustainable tourism landscape: whether they function primarily as trendsetters promoting ethical and responsible travel practices or as sellers of destination dreams who commercialize sustainability through aspirational content on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.Through qualitative content analysis and in-depth interviews with influencers and their followers, the research identifies messaging patterns, perceived authenticity, and the extent to which sustainability is embedded in influencer branding. Research findings show that although influencers often position themselves as sustainability ambassadors, their content prioritizes visual appeal and personal branding over actual environmental or social responsibility. The study concludes that most influencers are closer to the role of destination dream sellers, contributing to the commercialization of sustainable tourism ideas. This study contributes to the discourse on the impact of digital media on sustainable tourism development, offering policymakers, tourism marketers, content creators, and digital media consumers important insights to evaluate influencer-driven messages on sustainable tourism and align influencer marketing with global sustainability goals.
