Abstract

The dedication of the process evaluation of graduates of the study program Animal Science Wijayakusuma University Purwokerto through the study tracer aims to find out how much waiting time and suitability of the graduate field of work. The alumni tracking method consists of conceptual formulation and instruments that include survey design, population, data collection techniques, and data analysis. The survey was conducted online by submitting a fill-in form with a question referring to the dictionary standard. This dedication is carried out to obtain data that is used to measure the quality of graduates and measures to improve graduate quality in the period to date. The analysis showed that the majority of graduates gained employment less than six months after graduation, and most of them were absorbed in the world of work according to their field of expertise. Factors influencing the suitability of graduates include competence, English language skills, work experience, and soft skills. Tracer studies are an effective method for evaluating the suitability of the graduate's field of work to the standards set by the accreditation agency. The analysis includes methods of conducting a tracer study, evaluation of results, and analysis of the graduate's waiting time for employment. Abstract

Enucleation is an orbital surgical procedure performed on patients with indications of increased intraocular pressure due to glaucoma that cannot be treated with medication, intraocular neoplasia that may cause intraocular pain, or severe trauma. Prolapse of the bulbus oculi in cats is generally caused by glaucoma (increased intraocular pressure), bacterial or viral infections, trauma from being hit by a vehicle, scratches, fights with other animals, or ocular tumors. The purpose of this report is to describe the management of enucleation in cats at Jogja Veterinary Clinic, Yogyakarta. The subject of this case is a female cat named Telon, approximately four months old, weighing 1.65 kg, who was brought to Jogja Veterinary Clinic with a complaint of a protruding eye. Based on anamnesis, physical examination, and clinical symptoms, Telon was diagnosed with bulbus oculi prolapse and underwent enucleation surgery as a medical intervention. The treatment provided included antibiotics, vitamins, analgesics, and topical ointment. The cat received postoperative care for four days and showed good wound healing. It was concluded that the enucleation procedure using the transpalpebral technique in Telon had a favorable prognosis. Keywords: Prolapse of the Bulbus Oculi, Cats, and Enucleation

Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different intervals of administering a mixture of Lactobacillus plantarum and turmeric in drinking water on carcass weight and abdominal fat of broiler chickens. The research was conducted for 35 days at the Animal Production and Forage Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Science, University of Jambi, using 200 Lohmann Platinum (MB 202) day-old chicks of mixed sex. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was applied, consisting of four treatments and five replications, with 10 birds per replicate. The treatments were: P0 = drinking water without additives; P1 = 2% mixture of L. plantarum and turmeric administered daily; P2 = every two days; P3 = every three days. The mixture ratio of L. plantarum to turmeric was 3:1, given at 2% per liter of water. Observed parameters included feed and water intake, slaughter weight, carcass weight (absolute and relative), and abdominal fat (absolute and relative). Data were analyzed using ANOVA. Results showed no significant differences (P>0.05) among treatments for all parameters. However, the two-day interval treatment (P2) tended to improve slaughter and carcass weights while reducing abdominal fat compared to other treatments.

Abstract

Papilloma refers to the abnormal growth of tissue in the form of tumors or warts. The clinical signs of oral papillomatosis include lesions or masses that develop inside the oral cavity. Oral papillomatosis in cats is caused by Canine Papillomavirus (CPV). The papillomavirus induces tumors by infecting cells through wounds. The purpose of this report is to describe the diagnosis and management of oral papillomatosis in a mixed domestic cat at the Yogyakarta Animal Clinic. Diagnosis of papillomatosis can be made based on visible clinical signs and confirmed through cytological examination of the tumor mass. Management of oral papillomatosis involves the surgical removal of the tumor mass along with the surrounding tissue. Postoperative therapy includes the administration of antibiotics (Cefixime®), anti-inflammatory drugs (Methylprednisolone®), and antifungal agents (Candistatin®).

Abstract

The research aims to evaluate the effect of adding green spinach extract to broiler chicken sausages in terms of organoleptic properties, namely color and taste. The research used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) with a 4 x 5 unidirectional pattern. The treatments given bijau spinach extract were: P0: 750 g meat without green spinach extract + 200 g flour; P1: 750 grams of meat + 35 ml green spinach extract + 200 g flour; P2: 750 grams of meat + 45 ml green spinach extract + 200 g flour; and P3: 750 grams of meat + 55 ml green spinach extract + 200 g flour. The results showed that the addition of green spinach extract significantly affected the color and taste of broiler meat sausages. The more green spinach extract was added, the more intense the green color of the sausage, and the panelists preferred the color and taste of the sausage with the addition of green spinach extract. The color and taste of broiler meat sausage were highest at P3. The addition of green spinach extract can improve the organoleptic quality of broiler chicken sausage and is preferred.

Abstract

Ruminal tympany is a major digestive disorder that limits productivity and increases mortality in smallholder goat production systems, particularly in rural areas with limited veterinary support. This community service study aimed to improve farmers’ knowledge and awareness of ruminal tympany through a participatory extension approach. The program applied a one-group pretest–posttest quasi-experimental design involving 30 smallholder goat farmers in Panerokan Village, Jambi Province, Indonesia. The intervention combined lectures, interactive group discussions, and hands-on demonstrations focusing on disease identification, risk factors, preventive feeding management, and basic on-farm response strategies. Farmers’ knowledge was measured using structured questionnaires administered before and after the intervention. The results showed a substantial increase in knowledge, with mean scores improving from 45% in the pretest to 77% in the posttest across all assessed indicators. The novelty of this program lies in its practice-based and context-specific extension model that integrates scientific knowledge with local feeding practices. The findings suggest that participatory extension interventions can effectively strengthen farmers’ capacity for early detection and prevention of ruminal tympany, thereby contributing to more sustainable and resilient smallholder goat farming systems when supported by continued mentoring and follow-up initiatives.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of free-range chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) egg position using 60 free-range chicken eggs which are placed in an incubator with a capacity of 100 eggs and has been carried out from March 3 to March 26, 2023. This research used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) in a unidirectional pettern consisting of four treatments, namely P1 (egg position 0º), P2 (egg position 30º), P3 (egg position 60º), P4 (egg position 90º). Each treatment consists of 5 repetitions. Parameters measured were mortality and hatchability. The results showed that the effect of egg position did not show a significant effect (P>0.05) on mortality and hatchability. Position of the eggs at 60º results in low mortality and produces a fairly good hatchability. Keywords : chicken eggs, egg position, mortality, hatchability
