Abstract

Mappadendang traditional ceremony is a traditional ceremony that is held every year by Bugis society as an expression of gratitude for the abundance of the results of the crop. This traditional ceremony is usually combined with the Padendang dance, which is a traditional dance of the Bugis people, especially in Abbanuangnge Village, Soppeng Regency. It is derived from the word "Pa" which means the actor, "dendang" which means rhythm. Besides as a series of Mappadendang traditional ceremonies, this dance also functions as entertainment. The uniqueness of this dance lies in its attractive movements using properties called as rice pestle (stick). Besides that, it was supported by the sound of the collapsed pestle carried out by the mothers and accompanied by drum instruments. The purpose of this study is to analyze the aesthetics of Padendang dance at Mappadendang traditional ceremony of the Bugis society in Soppeng Regency. The method used in this study is a qualitative method. Data collection techniques are observation, interview and document study. The data validity technique uses triangulation techniques and data analysis techniques that follow the stages of interactive model analysis. The results of the Padendang dance research are three parts of the movement: the beginning of the movement, mappakaraja, the main part of the movement, Sere Padendang, the harvest and the final part mappatabe’ movement. The aesthetic findings of Padendang dance there are three aesthetic elements that exist in the Padendang dance, namely the shape / form of motion of the Padendang dance, the quality / content / message conveyed in the Padendang dance, and the performance / talent or skill possessed by the dancers.

Abstract

Silakupang is a traditional dance which forms is adjusted to the needs of national dance festival. Besides, the value of the dance is preserved and appreciated by the society. This research aims to analyze the changes of movement and values from Silakupang performance.The research employs qualitative methods with enthnochoreology approach. The data collection of this research used observation, interview, and documentation. The data were validated using triangulation of sources. The analysis of the data uses verification, reduction, and presentation followed by conclusion and interpretation to concept of changing movement and moral value. The finding of the research shows that the most obvious changes are to the choreography, costumes, and background music. The moral value of Silakupangcan be seen from the interpretation of the dance which shows the culture as an identity with moral value and openness to diversity, aesthetics, bravery, and creativity. The most important finding of the research is the changing of choreography which is more expressive and variative with the emphasis on the aesthetics and tolerance to change. The research has a significance in being a guidance for the society in using the traditional dance as the media of education and creativity. The value of Silakupan can be used as the living guidance of the society.

Abstract

Nyelimut dance is a characteristic of the Malay culture of South Sumatra, which was created based on the cultural spirit of the Ogan tribe who resides on the banks of the Ogan river, OKU Regency. Nyelimut dance is an adaptation of the Nyelimut tradition that was held when the Komering tribal wedding custom was held, Nyelimut tradition was performed after the covenant event that symbolizes the love of parents towards their children. The problem raised in this study aims to analyze the cultural expressions contained in the form of Nyelimut dance performances. The approach used is a qualitative method with a case study research design. Data collection techniques include observation, interview and document study. The results showed that the performance elements contained in the Nyelimut dance show some form of behavior that leads to goodness in social life. The moral message to be conveyed through Nyelimut dance is clearly seen in several movements arranged in Nyelimut dance. Then, Nyelimut dance performance form which consists of several dance elements namely elements of dance moves, space, property, accompaniment, make-up, fashion, and audience become a unified whole so as to create a good art performance and certainly reflect the local culture of the Ogan people who reside in OKU Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the educational values of that is implemented through the process of interaction in the musical play of the "Pantun Pitutur" song in the Suma Budhaya group performance. This study used a qualitative method with an interdisciplinary approach to sociology and education. The data were collected by using observation, interview, and document study techniques. The data analysis procedures used data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The validity of the data used were triangulation, data sources, and theory. The results showed that in the musical play "Pantun Pitutur" there was a process of social interaction among fellow musicians, musicians with the Suma Budhaya group, and the Suma Budhaya group with the community. Social interaction occurs through communication and social contact symbolically by using language, signs, and body language. Social contact in this performance is primary and positive. The social interaction process that was impledmented contains several educational values to the community. The educational values include; 1). Religious Value; 2). Cooperation Value; 3). Pluralist Value; and 4). Responsibility Value. The results of this study can be used as a reference regarding the study of educational values.

Abstract

Cengklungan art is a native traditional art of Temanggung Regency which has several additional electrical components. This study aims to provide an overview of the creativity of Paguyuban Podho Rukun artists and the factors that influence their creativity. The study was conducted by using qualitative analysis research methods with the research location in Temanggung Regency. The instruments and data collection techniques used observation, interviews and document study. The data validity technique used data triangulation technique. Meanwhile, the data analysis and processing techniques were carried out by collecting, reducing, clarifying and verifying data. The creativity of the Cengklungan artist in Podho Rukun is the addition of several components to the curved instrument namely cables, spulls, tunning pegs, boards, and guitar strings. In addition, the Cengklungan artist also produced several songs with a pentatonic nuance. The work process of cengklungan artists has also been discussed from several 4P factors including person, process, press, and product.

Abstract

Dengklung Al Kafi art is one of the traditional performing arts which is a combination of two cultures, namely Javanese and Arabic or Islamic from Bandar village, Batang regency. The purpose of this study was to analyze and describe the acculturation and creative process of the Dengklung Al Kafi art in Bandar village, Batang Regency. The method used was qualitative with ethnomusicology and anthropology approaches. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and document study. The data validity technique used was the source triangulation technique. The analysis process started from the data collection, data reduction and clarification, drawing conclusions and interpretation. The results showed that cultural acculturation was found in aspects of Dengklung art performances namely musical instruments, lyrics, dance and costume. In addition, creativity in Dengklung art can be seen by the creative process of notation change from pentatonic to diatonic, then added with aspects of dance and costume that combine Javanese and Arabic elements. The combination of culture which is manifested in the form of Dengklung art has been accepted and even appreciated by the surrounding community, it caused this art to stands until now.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the representation of environmental based arts education through cultural heritage through Balahak performance in Siulak Mukai, Kerinci - Jambi. The research method of this study uses qualitative data types and case study research design, for the data sources in this study uses primary and secondary data sources, for the data collection techniques in this study uses observation techniques, interviews, and document study. The data analysis technique in this study was analyzed by using interactive data analysis. The results of this study provide two evidences. First, Balahak is a performing art that is generally known as a bridal procession in Siulak Mukai. Balahak includes three processes, namely Bakumpu, Balahak, and Ba'uwu. Second, Balahak can be a means of cultural heritage to enculturate for participants (presenters) and socialize for the audience. It shows a reciprocal relationship between humans and the natural environment, the social environment and the environment in the balahak performance process, thus it makes balahak as a means to regenerate and introduce culture which is concluded as cultural heritage that represents environmental based arts education.

Abstract

Gamelan Soepra is a gamelan instrument that has been changed in tonality to diatonic and has a higher wadhah. With its diatonic tonality, Gamelan Soepra is able to be combined with today's modern instruments and it is able to play many song. The uniqueness of the Gamelan Soepra was used by Pater van Deinse as a music education at SMA Kolese Loyola. Gamelan Soepra is a tool for educating thar is combined with reflective pedagogy as an educational method. Reflective pedagogy has several elements, namely: context, experience, reflection, action, and evaluation. This study aims to understand the implementation of the reflective pedagogy elements in the learning process of Gamelan Soepra. The methods used by the author in collecting data were observation, interview, and document study. Gamelan Soepra Learning through reflective pedagogy not only develops students' abilities in playing music (Competence), but students also are trained to hone and develop their conscience (Compassion), conscience and their commitment and responsibility to what they have chosen (Commitment). Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in learning activities that took place face-to-face, turning into distance learning. Teachers need to adjust to this condition by making innovations to provide good educational services to students. This study aims to describe and analyze an innovation of media use in music art learning in the Covid 19 pandemic to develop the character of students at SMP Nasima Semarang. The research method used is qualitative research with a case study design. The data collection process was carried out by observation, interviews, and literature study. The data analysis was carried out by using three activity lines according to Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study is the use of learning videos uploaded to social media namely Youtube as a form of innovation in distance learning activities at SMP Nasima Semarang, which previously used powerpoint media in face-to-face learning in class. The use of video in distance learning makes it easy for teachers in delivering material, even though the manufacturing process requires more effort. There are character values instilled in students through the use of instructional videos, namely responsibility, curiosity, and honesty. The benefit of this study is as an overview of learning media innovation that can be used as a reference in implementing learning in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Terbang Papat is a typical traditional art from Kudus, the name of Terbang Papat was taken from the instruments of Terbang in the amount of four and used one Jidor. The art of Terbang Papat, now is starting to fade because it has been replaced by the times. This study aims to provide a preservation overview of the Terbang Papat art form in Kudus. The study was conducted by using a qualitative analysis research method with the research location in the Kedungdowo Kaliwungu village, Kudus Regency. The data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and document study. The data validity technique used data triangulation technique. Meanwhile, data analysis and processing techniques were carried out by collecting, reducing, clarifying and verifying data. The result of preserving the Terbang Papat music is from musical elements namely the time element and the characteristics of the accompanying instruments.
