Abstract

This research examines the influence of social media, especially the Instagram account @pramukasalis, on students' reading interest at SMA Negeri 1 Gowa. Reading interest is defined as a strong desire to read, which is influenced by intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Previous research shows that interesting content on social media can increase the reading interest of the younger generation. The method used was descriptive qualitative, with in-depth interviews with four students as participants. The research results show that the use of Instagram contributes positively to increasing students' reading interest. Content presented in an interesting and informative manner encourages students to read more actively. Respondents revealed that clear and straightforward content made them more interested in seeking further information. This research highlights the importance of digital literacy strategies that integrate social media to increase interest in reading, as well as the need to develop effective literacy programs among students. Overall, this research provides insight into how social media can be an effective tool in increasing interest in reading among the younger generation, as well as suggesting the need for a more structured approach in utilizing digital content for educational purposes.

Abstract

Gowa Regency has abundant natural and cultural tourism potential but faces challenges in delivering effective and attractive destination promotion to tourists. This community service activity (PKM) aims to improve the quality of tourism destination promotion in Gowa Regency and enhance the digital competence of partners through the integration of Perplexity.ai in persuasive text writing in poster form. The method used is a training held on October 2-3, 2025. The training participants were 36 students from SMA Negeri 9 Gowa, selected based on their interest in digital literacy, tourism promotion, and technology. The success of this activity was measured through several key indicators, including the participants' increased skills in utilizing Perplexity.ai for writing persuasive texts and creativity in poster design that meets tourism promotion standards. The analysis results show that integrating Perplexity.ai in persuasive text writing for tourism destination promotional posters successfully improved participants' skills significantly, with the average score increasing from 68 to 87. As many as 91% of participants were able to create effective and creative posters that received positive responses on social media and experienced an increase in digital literacy, making this training effective in developing participants' technical skills, creativity, and analytical abilities based on technology.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) in increasing students' motivation to explore innovative ideas. This research uses a qualitative approach. The research subjects are students and teachers who are directly involved in P5. Data collection was done through structured interviews and document analysis. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of P5 plays a role in improving students' creativity, collaboration, and character. P5 also creates a supportive learning environment to express students' innovative ideas. In addition to academic aspects, students' social skills are also explored in the implementation of P5. In addition, various obstacles were found, such as time management (scheduling), student group dynamics, and adaptation by teachers.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the image of women in sexual violence news through a corpus linguistics approach to detik.com online news in the period 2023–2025. Using AntConc software, an analysis was conducted on the frequency, collocation, and concordance of the word "women" in the context of sexual violence news reporting. The results of the study showed that the word "women" most often appeared together with words such as "violence", "victims", and "sexual", which indicated the dominant narrative of women as vulnerable and in need of protection. Collocations such as violence against women and women's protection reinforce the image of women as objects of victimization. Furthermore, the concordance analysis revealed forms of political, economic, family, media, and legal victimization experienced by women. This study concluded that the media played a role in shaping public perceptions that strengthened patriarchal power relations and extend gender inequality systematically. Therefore, a fairer and victim-oriented reporting approach was needed in order to build social awareness that was gender-just.

Abstract

Discourse studies and the Covid-19 pandemic have attracted the attention of previous researchers with various topics. However, studies that focus on the anxiety of netizens as expressed through social media Facebook have not been carried out. Therefore, this research is designed to fill the gap in the literature by revealing the forms and linguistic features utilized in representing the anxiety of netizens through the social media Facebook. Qualitative research using a critical discourse analysis approach was conducted on uploads by netizens on Facebook which were published between March and May 2020 and were selected purposively. The collected data is processed by thematic analysis. The results of the study show that netizens' anxiety about the Covid-19 pandemic is manifested in religious expressions, personal reflections, fears and worries, hopes, anger, and advice. The various forms of expression found represent messages of anxiety and efforts to build public awareness to comply with health protocols. The linguistic features used include collective and exclusive pronouns, repetition, metaphor, parallelism, and pragmatic markers of invitations and orders. This linguistic feature functions to foster collectivity, convey feelings, confirm information, and encourage public participation. The research findings provide a new perspective on the study of disaster discourse and expand the area of language studies in a pandemic situation.Keywords: Covid-19, language expression, anxiety, discourse studies, disaster discourseKajian wacana dan pandemi Covid-19 telah menarik perhatian para peneliti terdahulu dengan beragam topik. Namun demikian, studi yang berfokus pada kecemasan netizen yang diekspresikan melalui media sosial facebook belum dilakukan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini didesain untuk mengisi kesenjangan literatur dengan mengungkap bentuk dan fitur linguistik yang didayagunakan dalam merepresentasikan kecemasan netizen melalui media sosial facebook. Penelitian kualitatif dengan ancangan analisis wacana kritis dilakukan terhadap unggahan netizen di facebook yang terbit antara Maret sampai Mei 2020 dan dipilih secara purposive. Data terkumpul diolah dengan analisis tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecemasan netizen terhadap pandemi Covid-19 diwujudkan dalam ekspresi religi, refleksi pribadi, ketakutan dan kekhawatiran, harapan, kemarahan, dan nasihat. Beragam bentuk ekspresi yang ditemukan merepresentasikan pesan kegelisahan dan upaya membangun kesadaran publik untuk menaati protokol kesehatan. Fitur linguistik yang didayagunakan mencakup pronomina kolektif dan eksklusif, repetisi, metafora, paralelisme, dan pemarkah pragmatic ajakan dan perintah. Fitur linguistic itu berfungsi menumbuhkan kolektivitas, menyampaikan perasaan, menegaskan informasi, dan mendorong partisipasi publik. Temuan penelitian memberikan perspektif baru terhadap studi wacana bencana dan memperluas area kajian bahasa dalam situasi pandemi.Kata kunci: Covid-19, ekspresi berbahasa, kecemasan, studi wacana, wacana bencana

Abstract

This study aims to examine the inferential reading comprehension skills of students based on university entrance pathways, namely the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT), and the independent pathway. The study used a quantitative approach with a comparative design. Data were collected through an online questionnaire containing a profile form of the university entrance pathways and a multiple-choice test requiring inferential comprehension skills. Respondents were 492 students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program from four universities in South Sulawesi. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that in general, students' inferential reading comprehension skills were in the moderate category with a mean score of 9.47 (SD = 2.07; maximum score = 15). There were statistically significant differences between the three selection groups. Students from the SNBT pathway had the highest score (M = 9.71; SD = 1.98), students from the SNBP pathway (M = 9.68; SD = 2.06), and students from the independent pathway had the lowest score (M = 8.81; SD = 2.23). These findings imply the need for a systematically designed inferential reading literacy strengthening program.

Abstract

The percentage of social media users has an increasing trend and is problematic from a positive-negative impact perspective. The study aims to reveal the influence of social media frequency and the purpose of accessing social media on the reading comprehension skills of university students. Explanatory quantitative research was applied to 293 samples. The data were collected using questionnaires and objective tests. The results showed that students with moderate social media frequency (> 3 < 5 hours) had the best reading comprehension (mean rank: 161.68), while students with low social media frequency (< 3 hours) had the worst reading comprehension (mean rank: 134.55). The purpose of using social media to obtain information was the highest in the low frequency (n=109) and medium frequency (n=77) groups, while the purpose of obtaining entertainment was the highest in the high frequency group and the purpose of obtaining information took second place. The purpose of accessing information plays a role in the increase of insight that is a supporting factor for the performance of reading comprehension skills. The findings of this study recommend the implementation of digital literacy programs in education with the design of (a) integration in the curriculum, (b) moderate use of social media as a learning strategy, (c) development of usage guidelines, and (d) evaluation and monitoring of social media usage.

Abstract

Digital reading has become ubiquitous in educational settings, yet its impact on learning outcomes remains complex and context-dependent. This systematic literature review synthesizes evidence from nine open-access articles published by Taylor & Francis between 2021 and 2025, focusing on digital reading within the education subject area. Adhering to PRISMA 2020 guidelines, the study employed a rigorous screening process to identify relevant research, followed by thematic synthesis to extract key characteristics, outcomes, and implications. The analysis reveals four predominant themes shaping current discourse. First, mode effects highlight inequality-sensitive patterns in large-scale assessments, suggesting that digital formats may exacerbate existing achievement gaps if not carefully managed. Second, metacognitive navigation and strategic processing emerge as critical determinants of comprehension, emphasizing the need for learners to actively regulate their engagement with digital texts. Third, the review examines digital early-literacy ecosystems, underscoring the importance of home literacy supports, shared digital storybook reading, and established quality principles for children’s digital picture books in fostering foundational skills. Fourth, critical–ecological perspectives reframe digital reading through lenses of attention, curriculum design, and social justice, advocating for a holistic approach to future literacy practices. The findings indicate that benefits of digital reading are most pronounced when instructional scaffolds, high-quality design, and equitable access are explicitly prioritized. Conversely, risks such as superficial processing arise when efficiency-driven logics dominate without adequate support for deep comprehension. Consequently, this study proposes targeted implications for pedagogy, interface design, assessment frameworks, and future research directions. By integrating these insights, educators and policymakers can better navigate the challenges of digital literacy, ensuring that technological integration supports rather than hinders equitable and profound learning experiences in diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

Publikasi artikel ilmiah menjadi salah satu indikator penting dalam penguatan kompetensi akademik mahasiswa, khususnya di lingkungan pendidikan tinggi. Namun, sebagian besar mahasiswa masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami proses penulisan dan publikasi artikel ilmiah. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia dalam menulis serta mempublikasikan artikel ilmiah melalui pelatihan yang sistematis dan berbasis praktik. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan mencakup identifikasi kebutuhan mitra, perencanaan program, pelaksanaan pelatihan, serta evaluasi dan tindak lanjut. Materi pelatihan meliputi struktur dan sistematika publikasi, pengenalan jurnal, praktik, dan pendampingan penulisan-publikasi artikel. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman peserta tentang publikasi ilmiah, kemampuan menulis artikel, serta motivasi untuk terlibat dalam publikasi akademik. Sepuluh kelompok berhasil submit artikel, 7 berstatus accepted dan 3 review. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan dan pendampingan yang terstruktur dapat menjadi strategi efektif dalam menumbuhkan budaya publikasi ilmiah di kalangan mahasiswa.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam memanfaatkan media pembelajaran interaktif melalui pelatihan penggunaan JeopardyLabs. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 5 Mandai, Maros. Sebanyak 25 guru berpartisipasi aktif dalam kegiatan ini. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahapan utama, yaitu: (a) pemaparan materi seputar konsep gamifikasi dan pengenalan fitur JeopardyLabs, (b) praktik langsung membuat kuis interaktif menggunakan aplikasi tersebut, dan (c) simulasi pengoperasian JeopardyLabs dalam konteks pembelajaran di kelas. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan aspek pemahaman materi (93%), kemudahan penggunaan aplikasi (94%), motivasi menggunakan media digital (92%), kesiapan implementasi (94%), serta kualitas penyajian pelatihan (95%). Hasil tersebut menegaskan bahwa JeopardyLabs dinilai sebagai media yang mudah digunakan, menarik, dan efektif dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan peserta didik. Secara keseluruhan, pelatihan ini berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan literasi digital dan kesiapan guru dalam menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis gamifikasi untuk menciptakan suasana belajar yang lebih interaktif dan menyenangkan.
