Abstract

The objective of this study is to introduce eco-literacy in early childhood and to look into the role of digital media in increasing children's awareness of eco-literacy in the era of society 5.0 on daily environmental issues. This study applied a literature review of various sources related to eco-literacy through digital media, especially YouTube as well as interviewing class teachers. The results showed that introducing eco-literacy to elementary school students can be accomplished by telling stories, watching videos, or organizing field trips. There are four important points in developing an eco-literacy attitude: developing empathy, joining the community, making observable things visible, and asking children not to cause environmental damage. In addition to digital activities, efforts to improve ecological literacy should be extended through programs and exchanges regarding the need of environmental protection the 5R (refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot) approach. Further studies in the same topic on teaching eco-literacy to elementary school students can be carried out in a more intensive way through relevant games to instill a love of the environment based on 5R strategies.

Abstract

This developmental research was conducted to compose the learning material specifically for Islamic Economics students of Economics and Islamic Business Faculty. Basically, there are differences between Conventional Economics and Islamic Economics. Their striking differences lie in several terms used for mentioning practices in their implementations. The method used adopted from the steps of product development developed by Sugiono[1]. Before composing the development design, researchers conducted 2 aspects of analysis, namely target needs and learning needs which were developed into questionnaires to investigate listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. The data analysis resulted that there were no significant differences needed among six linguistic components above. However, it needed accentuation directly on all four linguistic skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing). Besides, the learning technique used during the English learning process is Cooperative Learning. [1] Sugiyono, Metode Penelitian Pendidikan (Bandung: Alfabeta, 2015), h. 409.

Abstract

In the process of transferring one message of Source Language (SL) to Target Language (TL) in a translation must be careful by a translator, because one word may have more than one meaning. By knowing the possible meanings of a word, the meanings appropriately should be translated by a translator, and the readers will get the meaning and information of the target text. The equal meaning of source language to the target language is equivalnce, but non-equivalence occurs when the meaning in source language is not translated into the target language. There are many strategies to solve the problems of non-equivalence in Indonesian into English. A translator has a strategy to solve it. These strategies, that is, cultural, loan word, pharaphase, omission, semantically, hyponyms, etc.

Abstract

Ethnopedagogy emphasizes the integration of local wisdom into educational practices and has gained increasing attention in EFL contexts. This study aimed to develop inferential reading materials by integrating Lampung local wisdom through an ethnopedagogical approach. Employing a research and development (R&D) design based on the Thiagarajan and Semmel 4D model, the study involved four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. During the define stage, students’ needs were examined through questionnaires and interviews. The design stage focused on syllabus development and the selection of reading theories, strategies, text genres, and culturally relevant materials rooted in Lampung local wisdom. In the develop stage, an inferential reading textbook was produced and validated by experts, while the disseminate stage examined students’ responses to the materials. The participants consisted of one inferential reading lecturer and 70 undergraduate students from an English Education program at a public higher education institution in Indonesia. The findings reveal a strong need for culturally grounded inferential reading materials, as existing resources insufficiently support students’ inferential comprehension skills. Students’ responses indicated a highly positive evaluation of the materials in terms of relevance, clarity, and cultural integration, with a mean score of 3.48 on a 4-point scale, categorized as very good. These results suggest that an ethnopedagogical approach is both effective and feasible for developing inferential reading materials in EFL higher education contexts.

Abstract

The preservation of regional languages, including Javanese, increasingly requires digital innovations that can support literacy development and sustain readers’ engagement. However, existing digital platforms for Javanese literary access often lack systematic development frameworks and user-centered design features, limiting their effectiveness and long-term usability. Responding to this gap, this study develops the Novaja.id Javanese Novel Library application through the integration of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and User-Centered Design (UCD) methodologies. The research began with a user needs analysis conducted through surveys and in-depth interviews, which informed the design of an intuitive interface and optimized user experience. A prototype was subsequently tested through usability evaluations, and user feedback was incorporated into iterative refinements. The findings show that the final application meets user needs effectively, demonstrating high navigation ease, satisfactory feature performance, and stable and secure functionality. These outcomes indicate that combining SDLC and UCD enhances application quality and usability. Overall, Novaja.id has strong potential to expand access to Javanese literary works and contribute to Javanese language literacy and cultural preservation.
