Abstract

Teachers are responsible for helping students to understand and admire subjects, which means they need first to appreciate what is supposed to be taught. Meanwhile, some intern teachers detest several subjects due to the unpleasant treatment received from their tutors. This study intends to clarify the definition of mathematical bitterness and develop its indicators. The respondents were seven third-year students at Pelita Harapan University, Indonesia. Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews and analyzed through descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The results showed that the indicators of bitterness in mathematics sprang from the following, 1) having experienced unpleasant treatment from a mathematics teacher for a long time, 2) having a negative view of mathematics, 3) feeling untalented in mathematics, 4) viewing the mathematics teacher as unfriendly, 5) poor mathematics learning performance, and 6) having high mathematical anxiety. The proposed definition of bitterness is a negative perception of mathematics that is built from the accumulation of past experiences that affect the student’s response to this subject. Hence, further studies are needed to provide solutions that help to heal students of their math bitterness.

Abstract

Siswa diharapkan dapat mencapai tujuan pembelajaran yang saling berkesinambungan. Faktanya, hasil mini kuis siswa kelas X-7 SMA Y menunjukkan bahwa tujuan pembelajaran kognitif belum tercapai. Bahan ajar dapat digunakan untuk mendukung tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran kognitif. Bahan ajar yang disusun oleh penulis berupa power point dan worksheet. Tujuan penelitan ini untuk mengkaji keefektifan penggunaan bahan ajar dalam mendukung tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran kognitif matematika. Metode penelitian yang digunakan oleh penulis adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Berdasarkan penelitian, bahan ajar yang disusun oleh penulis, efektif membantu siswa dalam mencapai tujuan pembelajaran kognitif. Hal ini didukung oleh umpan balik mentor dan siswa serta hasil pengerjaan worksheet siswa. Maka dari itu, penulis menyarankan agar pendidik mengoptimalkan penggunaan bahan ajar dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Most students think that the hardest subject to understand is math. It happened when the student did not get the meaning of doing math. It was made worse by the covid situation, students more and did not get any value. Even though the government had provided curriculum and lesson method options to be held in class, still it can be maximized to create meaningful math lessons. Therefore, this research focuses on the application of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) method based on a prototype curriculum to make math lessons more meaningful. The research method that will be used is descriptive qualitative. Students must get meaningful math lessons to find the greatness of God by doing math in their daily lives. Finally, students also glorify God. The research result is, PjBL based on the prototype curriculum method can help make learning mathematics more meaningful. The writer suggests for schools, hold training on using PjBL based on the curriculum prototype method, for teachers to apply this method in abstract topics, and for the next researcher to research the application of the PjBL method based on another curriculum.

Abstract

AbstrakKeberadaan dari peran disposisi matematis menjadi aspek yang masih dinilai vital ketika siswa berhadapan dengan pembelajaran matematika. Di tengah beragam penelitian terkait hal ini, masih minim studi yang mengkonstruksi instrumen disposisi matematis yang memenuhi kaidah statistik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkonstruksi instrumen disposisi matematis yang telah melewati kajian statistik, dan difokuskan pada konstruksi instrumen untuk domain afektif. Penelitian yang melibatkan 185 mahasiswa S1 ini menggunakan instrumen berupa 33 butir pertanyaan 4 skala Likert yang dianalisis menggunakan analisis faktor konfirmatori melalui IBM SPSS 20. Metode ekstraksi menggunakan Maximum Likelihood dan menerapkan rotasi Varimax untuk membedakan antar dimensi dengan lebih maksimal. Uji prasyarat mengindikasikan terpenuhinya kecukupan sampel dan korelasi yang kuat untuk dilanjutkan dalam proses pengelompokkan dimensi. Hasil analisis faktor konfirmatori memberikan 7 dimensi disposisi matematis domain afektif, di mana nilai reliabilitas Cronbach Alpha dari tiap dimensi cukup tinggi, di mana mengindikasikan validitas yang baik. Secara keseluruhan, konstruksi instrumen memuat 33 butir pertanyaan yang valid dan reliabel. Konstruksi instrumen yang telah teruji secara statistik ini dapat digunakan untuk keperluan penelitian lanjutan yang hendak menelaah secara komprehensif terkait disposisi matematis yang menyoroti domain afektif. AbstractThe existence of the role of mathematical disposition is still vital in dealing with mathematics learning. Among various researches discussing this issue, there are still few studies that deal with constructing mathematical disposition that fulfill adequate statistical review. This study aims to construct mathematical disposition instrument, which is well-tested through statistic review, and focused on affective domain. Methods: This study which involved 185 undergraduate students utilized instrument consisted of 33 four-Likert scale items analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) through IBM SPSS 20. The extract method was using Maximum likelihood and applied Varimax rotation to distinguish among dimensions optimally. Findings: The assumption tests indicate the sampling adequacy and strong correlation to be further conducted into the dimensions grouping process. The result of CFA brings 7 dimensions of mathematical disposition in the affective domain, where the value of Cronbach Alpha reliability of each dimension is quite high, which indicates good validity. Overall, the instrument construction provides 33 items which are all valid and reliable. Conclusion: The instrument construction which has been statistically tested, can be used for the purposes of further research seeking to comprehensively examine mathematical dispositions that highlight affective domains.

Abstract

Abstrak. Guru SD sering kali dituntut untuk dapat mengajar semua mata pelajaran, termasuk matematika. Kurikulum matematika sekolah dasar terdiri atas beberapa topik, salah satunya adalah geometri. Untuk itu, mahasiswa PGSD pun diharapkan dapat menguasai materi ini. Sayangnya cukup banyak mahasiswa PGSD yang mengalami kesulitan dalam mempelajari Geometri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penyebab kesulitan mahasiswa PGSD dalam mata kuliah Geometri.  Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan memakai analisis data Bogdan and Biklen. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kesulitan yang dialami mahasiswa PGSD dalam mempelajari geometri mencakup: (1) kesulitan memahami konsep dasar, (2) kesulitan dalam melakukan operasi hitung, (3) kesulitan memahami permasalahan dalam soal yang diberikan, dan (4) ketidaktelitian dalam proses pemecahan masalah. Adapun penyebab kesulitan mahasiswa disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor yang dapat diklasifikasikan menjadi dua faktor, intern dan ekstern. Faktor intern meliputi: (1) kurangnya minat dalam belajar matematika, (2) kebiasaan belajar yang buruk, dan (3) kesulitan yang pernah dihadapi di bangku sekolah. Sedangkan faktor ekstern meliputi: (1) belum tersedianya buku teks yang sesuai, (2) materi yang dirasa terlalu padat, dan (3) kecepatan dosen saat menyampaikan materi.  Harapan ke depan adalah agar mahasiswa maupun dosen pengajar dapat bekerja sama dengan lebih baik untuk meminimalisir kesulitan yang terjadi.  Kata Kunci. Abstract

Statistics is a course that correlates very closely in everyday life. An elementary school teacher needs to master statistics in relation to the implementation of the duties of a teacher, both as a collector and conveyer of information about students, as well as a researcher. But in reality, quite a lot of PGSD (Primary Teacher Education) students have difficulties in this course. One of them can be seen from how students answer questions given. There are still quite a lot of students who make mistakes in answering statistical research educational questions. This research is a descriptive study that describes and analyzes the mistakes of PGSD students in solving the problems of Statistics for Research in Education using the Newman procedure. The results of the study show that mistakes made by students include errors in understanding problems, transformation errors, errors in process skills, and answers to writing errors. One effort that can be done is by increasingBAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Statistika merupakan mata kuliah yang korelasinya sangat erat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Seorang guru sekolah dasar perlu menguasai statistika dalam kaitan dengan pelaksanaan tugas seorang guru, baik sebagai pengumpul dan penyampai informasi tentang siswa, maupun sebagai seorang peneliti. Namun kenyataannya, cukup banyak mahasiswa PGSD yang kesulitan dalam mata kuliah ini. Salah satunya dapat dilihat dari bagaimana cara mahasiswa menjawab soal yang diberikan. Masih ditemukan cukup banyak mahasiswa yang melakukan kesalahan dalam menjawab soal statistika penelitian pendidikan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang memaparkan dan menganalisis kesalahan mahasiswa PGSD dalam menyelesaikan soal Statistika Penelitian Pendidikan ditinjau dari prosedur Newman. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa kesalahan yang dilakukan mahasiswa mencakup kesalahan memahami masalah, kesalahan transformasi, kesalahan dalam keterampilan proses, dan kesalahan penulisan jawaban. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan cara meningkatkan kemampuan metakognitif mahasiswa.

Abstract

Bullying behavior is currently very widespread in the school environment. The school as a place for students to study and pursue education becomes an environment that is no longer conducive to supporting the learning process. Therefore, this study aims to see the importance of the teacher's role as a guide in dealing with bullying behavior that occurs in the classroom. This research is qualitative descriptive research. The instruments used are observation sheets, interviews, and reflection. The conclusion obtained from this study is that the teacher as a mentor is very important in overcoming bullying behavior because the teacher acts as a role model, as well as a person who has authority in the classroom. As a supervisor the teacher pays attention to things that can be done, namely giving advice, instilling character education, as well as role models in the form of active action, namely giving motivation and exemplifying friendly and polite interaction patterns. The result is the creation of a classroom atmosphere that has good communication quality which has an impact on reducing bullying behavior in class.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Perilaku perundungan saat ini sangat marak terjadi di lingkungan sekolah. Oleh karena itu, sekolah sebagai wadah bagi para siswa untuk belajar dan menempuh pendidikan menjadi lingkungan yang tidak lagi kondusif dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pentingnya peran guru sebagai pembimbing dalam mengatasi perilaku perundungan yang terjadi di kelas. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi, wawancara, dan refleksi. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah guru sebagai pembimbing sangat penting dalam mengatasi perilaku perundungan dikarenakan guru berperan sebagai teladan sekaligus pribadi yang memiliki otoritas di dalam kelas. Sebagai pembimbing guru menaruh perhatian terhadap hal-hal yang bisa dilakukan yakni memberi nasihat, menanamkan pendidikan karakter, juga teladan dalam bentuk tindakan aktif yaitu memberi motivasi dan mencontohkan pola interaksi yang ramah dan santun. Hasilnya berupa terciptanya suasana kelas yang memiliki kualitas komunikasi yang baik yang berdampak pada menurunnya perilaku perundungan di kelas.

Abstract

Statistics for Research Education is an important course for students in the Faculty of Education. Serious problems are experienced by students learning statistics, one of them is because the learning outcomes are not optimal. To overcome this problem, a lecturer can provide mini-research tasks. Mini-research is one form of assignment from project-based learning. This research was descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study were students from Cohort 2019 who took Educational Research Statistics courses. Learning activities and mini-research assignments are handled fully online. By giving students a mini-research assignment, students can be encouraged to learn statistical theories and concepts. Through mini-research tasks, students can increasingly see the big picture and interrelationships between topics in this course. The positive responses can be seen from students’ reflections and results of the review given to the paper. The use of project-based learning with a mini-research task is an interesting idea and suitable for students. In addition to better student learning outcomes, students also become more conscious of the problems around them. Prospective teachers can learn to make research an upcoming provision when they enter the field of teaching.

Abstract

The results of the PISA study in 2018 showed that the mathematics ability of Indonesian students was still in the low performance category. One of the factors that causes this is the lack of student interest in learning mathematics. Interest is very important because it is interest that encourages students to be active and act in learning. This study aims to see whether the application of a smartphone-based discovery learning model can help increase interest in learning mathematics. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative research method using several research instruments. This research was conducted in one of the schools in South Tangerang at the junior high school level. The instruments used by the authors are observation sheets and reflection sheets and mentor feedback sheets. The results of this study concluded that the application of a smartphone-based discovery learning model is able to effect student interest in learning, which is shown by an increased willingness to learn, pleasure in learning, and student participation.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Hasil studi PISA pada 2018 menunjukkan kemampuan matematika siswa Indonesia masih berada dalam kategori low performance. Salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan hal ini adalah kurangnya minat siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika. Minat menjadi hal yang sangat penting karena minatlah yang mendorong siswa untuk aktif dan bertindak dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat penerapan model pembelajaran discovery learning berbasis smartphone dapat membantu mengupayakan minat belajar pada pembelajaran matematika. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan beberapa instrumen penelitian. Penelitian ini dilakukan di salah satu sekolah swasta di Tangerang Selatan pada jenjang SMP. Instrumen yang digunakan oleh penulis adalah lembar observasi, lembar refleksi, dan lembar umpan balik mentor. Penelitian ini memberikan hasil bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran discovery learning berbasis smartphone mampu mengupayakan minat belajar siswa yang ditunjukkan dengan meningkatnya kemauan untuk belajar, rasa senang siswa dan partisipasi siswa.

Abstract

Creativity is a very important aspect of learning, including learning mathematics, because creativity helps students in problem solving. This article is an associative quantitative correlational research to determine the relationship between creativity and cognitive learning outcomes of students in grade 10 (basic science track) at a high school in Tangerang. Data collection techniques were carried out by questionnaires and tests. The questionnaire obtained data on the students' creativity and the tests gathered data on the students' cognitive learning outcomes. The results of the study showed that the creativity of the students were categorized as (1) high (14.29%) , (2) quite high at 55.10%, (3) fair (26.53%) and (4) low (4.08 %). For the cognitive learning outcomes, students were categorized as (1) high (44.90%), (2) quite high (28.57%), (3) average (22.45%) and (4) low (4.08%). This study shows that there is a positive and significant association (r = 0.372, p = 0.004) between creativity and cognitive learning outcomes of these grade 10 students presented by the regression equation Y = 9.908 + 0.638 X.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Kreativitas merupakan salah satu aspek yang sangat penting dalam pembelajaran, termasuk dalam pembelajaran matematika, karena kreativitas membantu siswa dalam pemecahan masalah.  Artikel ini merupakan suatu penelitian kuantitatif asosiatif korelasional untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya hubungan antara kreativitas dengan hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas X IPA Basic SMA ABC Tangerang. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan angket dan tes. Angket digunakan untuk memperoleh data mengenai kreativitas siswa dan tes untuk memperoleh data mengenai hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kreatifitas siswa kelas X IPA Basic SMA ABC Tangerang dapat dikategorikan sebagai (1) tinggi (14,29%), (2) cukup tinggi (55,10%), (3) rata-rata (26,53%) dan (4) rendah (4,08%). Sedangkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas X IPA Basic SMA ABC  Tangerang dapat dikategorikan sebagai (1) tinggi (44,90%), cukup tinggi (28,57%), rata-rata (22,45%) (4) rendah (4,08%). Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat asosiasi positif dan signifikan ( r = 0.372, p = 0.004) antara kreativitas dengan hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas X IPA Basic SMA ABC, yang dinyatakan dengan persamaan regresi.
