Abstract

The combination of ginger and white turmeric is the right way to make instant powder drink preparations. The content of gingerol in ginger and curcumin in white turmeric is useful as a natural diuretic (urine laxative). Instant powder drink preparations are made of 2 formulas with different variations of sweeteners, namely formula 1 with 100% granulated sugar and formula 2 with a combination of granulated sugar and brown sugar (3:1). This study was to determine the effect of variations in sugar on physical characteristics and the level of preference of panelists for the preparation of an instant powder drink containing a combination of ginger rhizome and white turmeric. Making instant powder drinks using the crystallization method Physical test data was analyzed by the Independent Sample T-Test. The test results showed that the two formulas met the powder test requirements with the pH value, setting, moisture content, flow time, and angle of repose in formula 1 each being 6.53; 9.3%; 0.26%; 15.63 grams/second; and 31.62, while formula 2 is 6.19; 5.6%; 1.04%; 11.55 grams/second; and 36.44. The hedonic test shows that there is a significant difference in preference values where formula 2, with a combination of sugar and brown sugar (3:1), is more preferred by the panelists.

Abstract

Science for Society (IbM) is a program of dedication to society funded by Research and Technology Directorate of Higher Education. Ibm Leather Health Soap Making proposed by the group of Lecturers Prodi Pharmacy Faculty of Medicine UNTAN aims to help the first partner of Bidikmisi Student Enterprises Group of Pharmaceutical Technology in terms of improving skills in processing natural ingredients into skin health soap preparations. IbM proponents help provide business capital, provide guidance on making skin health soap and provide information on how to apply for permission to circulate skin health soap products. In addition, the proposer of IbM also provides pharmacy management consultancy according to the growing pharmacoeconomics and their pharmacy business will grow better in the future. The result of training, mentoring and guidance to Bidikmisi Student Enterprises Group of Pharmaceutical Technology run well and smoothly. The publication of IbM's Leather Health Soap Program publication seminar held for pharmacy students and open to the public. The hope of the seminar is the students and the general public can get knowledge about the manufacture of soap, cosmetic business opportunities such as soap and soap product registrations so that the future in West Kalimantan can appear business actors in the field of skin health soap products.Keywords: Soap, Health, Skin, IbM

Abstract

Proses pengeringan diperlukan untuk mempertahankan mutu suatu simplisia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode pengeringan terhadap aktivitas antioksidan daun ciplukan (Physalis angulata L.). Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan terhadap metode pengeringan dengan menggunakan angin, matahari tidak langsung dan oven, serta sampel segar tanpa pengeringan. Aktivitas antioksidan diuji menggunakan metode 2,2-difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil (DPPH). Nilai IC50 sampel pengeringan angin, matahari tidak langsung, oven dan segar berturut-turut adalah 46,42 ± 3,37; 34,33 ± 2,24; 77,91 ± 3,44 and 57,63 ± 4,33 μg/ml. Berdasarkan data hasil penelitian, kami menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan (p<0,05) pada nilai aktivitas antioksidan tiap sampel yang dikeringkan dengan metode yang berbeda.

Abstract

Alpha arbutin merupakan salah satu agen pencerah kulit yang terdegradasi dalam sediaan larutan pada pH kurang dari 3,0 dan pH lebih dari 6,5. Sistem penghantaran niosom dapat meningkatkan stabilitas alpha arbutin dalam sediaan gel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pH terhadap stabilitas gel niosom alpha arbutin. Uji stabilitas dilakukan menggunakan formulasi gel alpha arbutin dan gel niosom alpha arbutin yang dibuat dalam pH sediaan 6, 7 dan 8 selama 28 hari. Pengukuran kadar alpha arbutin menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan waktu kadaluarsa gel alpha arbutin dengan sistem niosom lebih lama dibandingkan tanpa sistem niosom pada setiap pH. Sediaan gel niosom alpha arbutin dan gel alpha arbutin pada pH 7 memiliki kestabilan lebih baik daripada sediaan gel pH 6 dan 8. Gel niosom alpha arbutin dan gel alpha arbutin pada pH 7 tidak mengalami perubahan organoleptis selama penyimpanan 28 hari. Hasil uji analisis Independent-Sampel T Test dengan nilai p<0,05 menunjukkan pada pH 7 berbeda signifikan antara formula gel alpha arbutin dan gel niosom alpha arbutin. Waktu kadaluarsa sediaan gel alpha arbutin pH 7 dengan sistem niosom dan tanpa sistem niosom masing-masing selama 24 hari dan 14 hari. Kesimpulannya adalah sistem niosom dapat meningkatkan stabilitas alpha arbutin pada rentang pH yang diteliti.

Abstract

Pada masa pandemi COVID-19 banyak masyarakat menggunakan produk jamu untuk mencegah atau menjaga kesehatannya. Salah satu produk herbal yang telah dikenal masyarakat adalah serbuk jamu instan. Rimpang jahe dan herba meniran merupakan tanaman yang mudah tumbuh dan dibudidayakan. Dilaporkan kedua tanaman ini memiliki zat aktif berupa asam ursolat dan asam oleanolat, seskuiterpen, bisapolene, zingiberene, zingiberol, dan beberapa minyak atsiri yang berkhasiat sebagai antioksidan, analgesik, sedatif, antipiretik, antibakteri, selain itu herba meniran dilaporkan juga memiliki aktivitas sebagai antidiabetes. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dalam pelatihan teknis ini adalah bersifat penyuluhan, demonstrasi, praktek dan pendampingan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan mengundang ibu-ibu pkk di desa sungai pangkalan I Kecamatan Sungai Raya Kabupaten Bengkayang sebanyak 35 orang. Hasil kegiatan yang telah dicapai dari kegiatan ini adalah bertambahnya pengetahuan ibu-ibu pkk tentang materi pembuatan serbuk jahe instan jahe dan meniran, manfaat pendampingan pelatihan pembuatan serbuk jahe instan jahe dan meniran, pembuatan produk yang dipraktekkan dapat memberikan pemahaman, inspirasi, dan keterampilan kepada masyarakat, dan produk yang dihasilkan dapat diproduksi skala rumah tangga dan dapat meningkatkan perekonomian kepada masyarakat. Tanggapan peserta terhadap kegiatan ini direspon sangat positif, hal ini dapat dilihat dari rata-rata persentase tingkat kepuasan responden yang sangat baik sekali 53.68% dan baik sekali 38.42%.

Abstract

Meniran (Phyllanthus niruri L.) is a plant used to promote hair growth. In this research, ethanolic extract of P.niruri was formulated into lotion because it was more evenly distributed and non sticky in use compared to cream and gel. The aims of this research is to determine the hair growth activity of the ethanolic extract of P.niruri and the effect of using menthol 1% as an enhancer in lotion formulation. In this research two formula were being tested where Formula I (F1) without menthol 1% and Formula II (F2) with menthol 1%. The 5% of extract was being used in the formulation. The lotion was applied to the rats skin and the hair length was measured on day 7, 14 and 21, while the hair weight was measured on day 21. The results showed that the average hair length on F2 (12.68 3.13 mm) was longer than the F1 (11.21 2.58 mm) although there was no significant difference between both formulas. The average hair weight on F2 (23.00 10.74 mg) was greater that the F1 which was only 15.83 6.11 mg. Both formulas have a longer hair growth activity compared to normal controls (10.74 0.86 mm). It can be concluded that the lotion of ethanolic extract of P. niruri could promote hair growth in white wistar rats and the addition of 1% menthol as an enhancer gave better hair growth activity in F2 group.

Abstract

Kratom leaves (Mitragyna speciosa Korth.) is known to have an opioid-like analgesic effect. One of the main compound in kratom leaf is mitragynine which has strong affinity to opioid receptor. Kratom leaf has many pharmacological effects, one of them is as an antinoceptive agent. The purpose of this research to investigate the antinociceptive effect of dicholoromethane fraction from kratom leaf and determine the percentage of antinociceptive on male Swiss mice. The method used in this study was hot plate method. The animal subjects were divided to five groups: normal group CMC Na 0.5%, morphine 5.46 mg/kgBW, dicholoromethane fraction of kratom leaf doses 70, 140, and 280 mg/kgBW respectively. The subject response like jump, lick or lift up the back leg was considered as latent time parameter. The latent time was recorded at 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 105 and 120 minutes with cut-off time 15 seconds. Result data were analysed using One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc Test LSD. It showed the antinociceptive effect of discholoromethane fraction at dose 70, 140 and 280 mg/kgBW were significantly difference (p<0,05) with normal group. The conclusion of this study is the discholoromethane fraction of kratom leaf has antinociceptive activity. The percentage of antinocicetiptive from fraction group at dose 280 mg/kgBW(86%) was higher than the other two dose-groups (140 and 70 mg/kgBW) which were 81% and 51%.

Abstract

Drying is the most important step to keep the compound stability in simplicia. The objective of this research is to know the effect of drying methods on antioxidant activity in Melastoma malabathricum L. The drying methods tested were oven-drying at 40°C, direct sunlight, indirect sunlight, air-drying at ± 25°C and fresh samples as control. Result revealed that the drying methods of simplicia were significant differences for antioxidant activity in Melastoma malabathricum L. (p < 0,05). Drying method that has the highest antioxidant activity was by air-drying at ± 25°C is 54.60 %.

Abstract

Hylocereus polyrhizus Britton and Rose (Red dragon fruit) has been shown to have antioxidant activity which contains vitamin C, polyphenol, and flavonoid. This research was aimed to investigate antioxidant activity from H. polyrhizus in form of lotion. Lotion were made with 5 concentration from H. polyrhizus methanol extract were 0.04, 0.08, 0.16, 0.32 and 0.64%. Lotion antioxidant activity was measured using DPPH method. The result showed that H. polyrhizus methanol extract had antioxidant activity with inhibition concentration were 19.99±0.33; 25.01±0.08; 39.14±0.04; 66.69±0.12 and 83.37±0.05. The result showed significant differences on antioxidant activity. The physical stability observation of five formula with cycling test method showed unstability because of discolouration (oxidation). As well as the methods of mechanical test showed unstability of lotion because saponification process.

Abstract

Background: The plants used in this study were buas-buas leaves (Premna serratifolia L.) and sappan wood (Caesalpinia sappan L.). The people of West Kalimantan use the buas-buas leaves and sappan wood as traditional medicine, and, based on research, they have antibacterial activity. Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli are bacteria that cause nosocomial infections and have developed resistance to many antibiotics. This research was conducted to determine the antibacterial activity of the combination of n-hexane extract of buas-buas leaves and sappan wood. Methods: The antibacterial activity test was carried out by the agar diffusion method using a paper disc with a diameter of 6 mm. The antibacterial activity of a combination of n-hexane extract of buas-buas leaves and sappan wood in a ratio of 1:1, 2:1, and 1:2 at concentrations of 125, 250, and 500 ppm. Results: In this study, the combination of n-hexane extract of buas-buas leaves and sappan wood with various concentrations, even with increasing concentrations, did not show any inhibition zones. The factors that are thought to affect the absence of the inhibition zone are the concentration of the extract, the content of secondary metabolites, the solubility of the extract, and the length of contact time Conclusion: The combination of n-hexane extract of buas-buas leaves and sappan wood did not have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in all comparisons and concentrations.
