Abstract

This study was designed to reevaluate the adjustment of land suitability classes. This study was conducted in North Sumatra Province, precisely in 4 regencies, namely Simalungun, Langkat, Deli Serdang, and Serdang Bedagai Regencies. The study used land suitability classes. Related to rooting media and nutrient retention parameters, the results of a semi-detailed land suitability study for soybean plants in Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai, and Langkat Regencies showed that the land was only marginally suitable (S3 rc, nr). In Simalungun Regency, efforts were made to increase the suitability of potential land to a marginally suitable class with the rooting media factor (S3 rc) and the water availability and nutrient retention factor (S3 wa, nr). This was done by attempting to increase the adaptability of potential land to a marginal suitability class with a water availability factor (S3 wa). The land suitability class in the research area for soybean plants includes the marginal suitability class (S3), so planting soybean commodities results in less than maximum production with limiting factors of rainfall and nutrition retention. To improve nutrient retention by adding organic materials, the limiting factor of rainfall is relatively high by creating drainage channels.

Abstract

This research analyzes the added value of processing pineapple into pineapple chips in Onanrunggu I Village, Sipahutar District, North Tapanuli. This research uses the Hayami method to calculate added value, which shows that processing pineapple into chips makes a significant contribution to the local economy through job creation and increased income. The data collection method was carried out through in-depth interviews with pineapple chip producers, direct observation of the production process, and analysis of documents related to costs and income. The analytical methods used include calculating added value, profit margins and production efficiency. The analysis results show that the added value from pineapple chips production reaches IDR 11,200 per kilogram with a value added ratio of 75%. The profit margin per kilogram is IDR 1,125 with a profit level of up to 80%. The research results show that the production process involving selecting quality fruit, frying with vacuum frying technology, and attractive packaging has proven to be effective in increasing the economic value of the product. Competitive marketing strategies also play an important role in increasing product competitiveness in the market. This research highlights the importance of innovation in the processing of agricultural products to increase added value and economic welfare of society.

Not only that, but business success also has an average score of 134.3 with a rate of 70.6% (high category), and there is a significant influence between Entrepreneurial Characteristics (KW) and Business Success (KU). The t-statistical value of Entrepreneurial Characteristics (KW) on Business Success (KU) is 28.476, more significant than the t-table 1.68. This means there is a substantial difference of 28.476 between the average of the two variables and the relationship between them. Apart from that, the resulting research p-value of 0.000 is smaller and much lower than the alpha value (0.05), which means it is significant and rejects H0. The suggestions in this research are for online fresh fruit and vegetable business actors to improve their management skills and strategies in running their businesses and further improve strategies in utilizing the technology used in promotions to attract customer attention. Buy and be better able to market their products inside and outside the city by becoming entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurial characteristics have a significant influence on business success.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence cocoa production in Semadam District, Southeast Aceh Regency. Cocoa is one of the mainstays of the plantation sector that plays an important role in the economy, especially in Southeast Aceh Regency which is the largest cocoa producing area in Aceh Province. However, there is a fluctuation in production from year to year which indicates the need for a study of production factors. Data were obtained from 38 cocoa farmer respondents selected by purposive sampling. The analysis method used is the Cobb-Douglas production function, with independent variables including land area, labor, seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, and the dependent variable is cocoa production. The results of the study showed that simultaneously all variables had a significant effect on cocoa production. Partially, the variables of land area, seeds, and fertilizers had a positive and significant effect, while labor and pesticides did not have a significant effect. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.948 indicates that 94.8% of the variation in cocoa production can be explained by the five variables. This study recommends increasing the efficiency of the use of production inputs to optimize cocoa yields.
