Abstract

Snake bites are a potentially life-threatening health problem, especially in residential areas near swamps and bushes. Inappropriate initial treatment can worsen the victim's condition and increase the risk of complications. This community service activity aims to improve the community's knowledge and skills in providing first aid for snake bites through simulation training. The activity was held on October 7, 2025, in Kelayan Barat Village, RT 09, Banjarmasin City, with 41 participants. The methods used included education, demonstrations, simulations, and hands-on practice. The results of the activity showed an increase in the community's understanding and skills in recognizing the signs of snake bites, providing correct first aid, and avoiding erroneous actions. This activity is expected to increase community preparedness in dealing with snake bites and reduce the risk of complications due to inappropriate treatment.

Abstract

Introduction: Choking in children presents a life-threatening emergency that requires parents to recognize risks and act promptly. If parents lack sufficient knowledge, they may respond too slowly, worsening outcomes. Objective: This study examined how social media–based health education and demonstration impact parental knowledge and cognitive preparedness to mitigate and manage choking incidents in children. Method: Researchers used a quantitative quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample comprised 50 parents of children at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 31 Kindergarten, Banjarmasin, divided into a social media education group and a demonstration education group. Result and Discussion: Researchers administered questionnaires before and after the interventions to collect data. Results showed that both the social media group (p < 0.001; r = 0.875) and the demonstration group (p < 0.001; r = 0.877) significantly improved parental knowledge and cognitive preparedness. Post-intervention outcomes for both groups remained comparable, revealing no statistically significant difference (p = 0.838). Conclusions: These findings show that both social media–based education and demonstration effectively enhance parental knowledge and cognitive preparedness for managing pediatric choking emergencies

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Henti jantung merupakan suatu kondisi berhentinya jantung memompa darah secara spontan. Penyebab terjadinya henti jantung karena sistem kelistrikan pada jantung tidak berfungsi dengan baik. Jika ada ketidaktepatan dalam pemberian pertolongan dapat berakibat fatal yang menyebabkan kematian. Tujuan: Untuk mengidentifikasi efektivitas pemberian pendidikan kesehatan tentang bantuan hidup dasar dengan metode simulasi dan media audiovisual terhadap pengetahuan tim relawan emergency di wilayah Banjarmasin utara. Metode: Desain penelitian yaitu eksperimen komparatif two grup pretest and posttest design dan menggunakan lembar kuesioner untuk mendapatkan data dari responden. Sampel berjumlah 30 responden dengan menggunakan teknik total sampling. Hasil: Penelitian didapatkan nilai rata-rata pada metode simulasi 8.00 dan pada media audiovisual 7.50 dan didapat nilai p-value = 0,001 (α < 0,05). Kesimpulan: Metode simulasi lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan media audiovisual terhadap pengetahuan tim relawan emergency di wilayah Banjarmasin utara. Diharapkan para relawan emergency menerapkannya pada kondisi kegawatdaruratan seperti henti jantung.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: General anestesi merupakan salah satu jenis pembiusan yang menimbulkan hilangnya kesadaran, hilangnya persepsi nyeri, hilangnya memori dan relaksasi. Salah satu perhatian utama bagi pasien yang menjalani operasi dengan general anestesi adalah waktu pemulihan kesadaran. Di antara faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi waktu pulih sadar adalah usia dan status fisik ASA (American Society of Anesthesiologists) pasien. Tujuan: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara usia dan status fisik ASA dengan waktu pulih sadar pada pasien post operasi dengan general anestesi. Metode: Desain penelitian ini adalah analitik korelatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Sampel pada penelitian ini berjumlah 96 responden. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi. Analisis data menggunakan uji Chi-Square. Penelitian ini dilakukan di RSUD Dr. H. Moch. Ansari Saleh Banjarmasin pada bulan Mei-Juni 2025. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara usia dengan waktu pulih sadar dengan p value 0,768 (p>0,05), dan tidak ada hubungan antara status fisik ASA dengan waktu pulih sadar dengan p value 0,278 (p>0,05). Kesimpulan: Diharapkan hasil penelitian ini dapat mendorong penata anestesi untuk meningkatkan kualitas manajemen anestesi sehingga dapat meminimalkan terjadinya resiko komplikasi pasca pembedahan.

Abstract

Background: Treatment for patients who have mild head injury are mostly pharmacological. (Despite of what happens to the patients so far, they do not have to be given drugs as treatment, they can be treated in other ways, that is not in the form of drugs) Purpose: To determine effect of the finger hold technique on decreasing the scale of acute pain on patients with mild head injury. Method: This research used Quasy Experimental design with the One Group Pretest-Postest Design. The population of Mild Head Injury patients in the first semester of 2018 in November-December were 20 people. Samples taken by Accidental Sampling technique in 20 respondents. Instrument for this reseach used the questionnaire sheet. Measurement of respondent's pain level using NRS rating scale 0-10 and the data analyzed using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with Paired T-Test. Results: The scale of pain before the finger hold technique on mild head injury patients mostly got moderate pain on 15 people (75%). The scale of pain after the finger hold technique was performed, head injury patients mostly got mild pain category on 13 people (65%). The hypothesis is accepted with a significance level of 0.000 <0.05. Conclusion: By giving finger hold technique, it can decrease pain level patients with mild head injury

Abstract

ABSTRAK Cuci tangan pakai sabun (CTPS) merupakan salah satu perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat yang berperan penting dalam mencegah penularan penyakit menular, terutama pada kelompok anak yang tinggal di lingkungan hunian komunal seperti panti asuhan. Anak-anak panti asuhan termasuk kelompok rentan terhadap masalah kesehatan akibat keterbatasan pengetahuan dan kebiasaan higienis yang belum optimal. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anak-anak Panti Asuhan Nur Azizah Belitung, Kecamatan Banjarmasin Barat, dalam menerapkan cuci tangan pakai sabun sebagai upaya promotif dan preventif. Metode yang digunakan berupa penyuluhan kesehatan, demonstrasi, dan praktik langsung CTPS dengan pendekatan partisipatif. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pengukuran tingkat pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada tingkat pengetahuan peserta setelah intervensi, di mana sebagian besar peserta berada pada kategori pengetahuan baik. Kegiatan ini dapat disimpulkan efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman anak-anak terhadap pentingnya CTPS dan diharapkan dapat mendorong terbentuknya kebiasaan hidup bersih dan sehat secara berkelanjutan. Disarankan agar edukasi CTPS dilakukan secara rutin dan terintegrasi dalam aktivitas sehari-hari panti asuhan. Kata Kunci: Cuci Tangan Pakai Sabun, Promosi Kesehatan, Pencegahan Penyakit, Panti Asuhan.  ABSTRACT Handwashing with soap (HWWS) is a clean and healthy lifestyle behavior that plays a crucial role in preventing the transmission of infectious diseases, especially among children living in communal living environments such as orphanages. Children in orphanages are particularly vulnerable to health problems due to limited knowledge and suboptimal hygiene habits. This Community Service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of children at the Nur Azizah Belitung Orphanage in West Banjarmasin District, in implementing handwashing with soap as a promotive and preventive measure. The methods used included health education, demonstrations, and hands-on practice of HWWS, using a participatory approach. Evaluation was conducted by measuring knowledge levels before and after the activity. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge levels after the intervention, with the majority of participants in the good knowledge category. This activity can be concluded aseffective in increasing children’s understanding of the importance of HWWS and is expected to encourage the development of sustainable clean and healthy lifestyle habits. It is recommended that HWWS education be conducted routinely and integrated into the orphanage’s daily activities. Keywords: Handwashing With Soap, Health Promotion, Disease Prevention, Orphanage.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Sinkop atau pingsan merupakan kondisi hilangnya kesadaran sementara yang sering terjadi pada remaja usia sekolah dan membutuhkan penanganan pertolongan pertama yang tepat. Rendahnya pengetahuan siswa terkait penanganan sinkop dapat meningkatkan risiko cedera dan kesalahan tindakan awal. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa mengenai pertolongan pertama pada kasus sinkop di lingkungan sekolah. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 2 Kumai dengan melibatkan 30 siswa kelas IX. Metode yang digunakan berupa edukasi kesehatan melalui ceramah menggunakan media PowerPoint dan permainan interaktif Wordwall. Evaluasi pengetahuan dilakukan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan siswa setelah diberikan edukasi, ditandai dengan meningkatnya jumlah siswa pada kategori pengetahuan baik. Edukasi kesehatan dengan metode ceramah dan permainan interaktif Wordwall efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa tentang pertolongan pertama pada kasus sinkop. Kata Kunci: Sinkop, Pertolongan Pertama, Edukasi Kesehatan.  ABSTRACT Syncope is a temporary loss of consciousness caused by reduced cerebral blood flow and frequently occurs among school-aged adolescents. In the school setting, inadequate knowledge of first aid management for syncope may lead to improper handling and increase the risk of injury. This community service activity aimed to improve students’ knowledge regarding first aid management of syncope in the school environment. The activity was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Kumai and involved 30 nainth-grade students. Health education was delivered through lectures using PowerPoint media and interactive learning with Wordwall games. Students’ knowledge levels were evaluated using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in students’ knowledge after the educational intervention, indicated by an increase in the number of students classified as having good knowledge. Health education using lecture methods combined with interactive Wordwall games is effective in improving students’ knowledge of first aid management for syncope in schools. Keywords: Syncope, First Aid, Health Education.
