Abstract

Generally, vegetables cultivation in tropical riparian wetland is conducted only one times per year simultaneously or after rice cultivation. One of constrains of cultivation in tropical riparian wetland is low adoption to technology which can be used by local farmers during dry season. The objective of this research was to introduce result of research to local farmer directly and examine the local farmer’s adoption about the technology based on research to apply in tropical riparian wetland, Pemulutan, South Sumatera. Based on this research, results showed that farmers' interest in cultivating vegetables during the dry season is still low, but it has a chance to be improved. Alternative solutions through watering and adjustment of environmental conditions or adaptation through the selection of cultivation locations and the selection of various types of vegetable crops have been carried out by farmers. However, the application of mulch has not been practiced by farmers in tropical riparian wetland for vegetable cultivation during the dry season due to limited information received, considered as capital intensive, and the sociocultural aspects of the local community.

Abstract

The current challenges of industrial agriculture focus on environmental safety. Water quality is an indicator of environmental sustainability. The cultivation system has an impact on water quality. The aim of this study is to assess the water quality of agricultural systems. Anthropogenically, agricultural activities have an impact on environmental aspects. Identification of agricultural systems is clustered into organic and non-organic agriculture. The agricultural system in Indonesia is regulated based on SNI 6729;2016. Water sampling was carried out at three points, including upstream, middle (irrigation), and downstream (river). Water sampling at each point was repeated three times. Assessment of the physical quality of water using the Combo Quality Meter. Water samples for chemical and biological analysis at the Environmental Laboratory, Perum. Jasa Tirta 1. Determination of water quality standards refers to Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001. In the upstream section, pollution can be seen in the biological oxygen demand (BOD) indicator, with an average of 15.03 mg L-1 for organic and conventional systems. The phosphate indicator averaged 1.96 mg L-1. In the middle section (irrigation), the pollution indicators for BOD, phosphate, and total Coliform parameters were 6.76 mg L-1 for the organic system, 7.37 mg L-1 for the non-organic system, and 1,290 CFU mL-1. In the downstream (river), pollution indicators consist of total suspended solids (TSS), BOD, chemical oxygen demand (COD), and total Coliform. Anthropogenic identification for clustering agricultural systems at the research location uses stratified disproportional sampling. The results of this research provide recommendations for water quality management for sustainable agricultural environmental management.

Abstract

The growth of leaf biomass can be predicted from an increase in the surface area and thickness of the leaves. Measurements of leaf biomass are approached with the fresh weight of the leaves. The relationship between biomass and leaf surface area commonly performed by regression analysis. The analysis requires assuming linear relationship between dependent variables and independent variables. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is alternative that can be used to analyze the relationship of leaves and leaf biomass without requiring linear relationships. The research aimed to evaluate ANN performance in determining the fresh weight of pakcoy leaves based on leaf area parameters. Datasets in the study included leaf area datasets and length-width datasets. ANN architecture used Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP) with backpropagation. Ramsey’s test results showed that leaf area datasets is linier model and length-width datasets is nonlinier model. ANN performs well in predicting leaf fresh weight data on both nonlinear and linear models. The best ANN architecture for modeling the leaf fresh weight with leaf area is MLP (1-3-1) while the leaf fresh weight model with length and width is MLP (2-3-1).

Abstract

Abstrak DD Orchid Nursery  merupakan salah satu nursery anggrek besar yang berlokasi di Desa Dadaprejo, Kecamatan Junrejo, Kota Batu-Malang. Produk anggrek dari DD Orchid Nursery  telah dikenal luas oleh masyarakat pecinta anggrek di Indonesia bahkan hingga internasional. Tingginya permintaan masyarakat terhadap tanaman hias anggrek yang memiliki karakter sama dengan induk perlu diimbangi dengan penerapan teknologi produksi terutama untuk perbanyakan anggrek klonal. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk mendiseminasikan teknologi inovasi bioreaktor termodifikasi dengan sistem kincir sederhana guna meningkatkan produksi perbanyakan anggrek secara klonal kepada masyarakat sekitar dan petani plasma DD Orchid Nursery. Sasaran kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat di tempat mitra DD Orchid Nursery  yakni karyawan bagian produksi laboratorium yang memegang kendali terhadap kualitas bibit yang dihasilkan. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian berupa sosialiasi transfer teknologi bioreactor dan diseminasi dan praktik uji teknologi bioreactor. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian yang telah dilakukan yakni adanya peningkatan transfer of knowledge dan transfer of skill yang diberikan oleh tim kepada masyarakat maupun petani plasma. Selain bertujuan untuk mengenalkan inovasi bioreaktor termodifikasi dan memberikan materi serta cara kerja bioreact, kegiatan ini juga diharapkan bisa memberikan sebuah inovasi baru kepada DD Orchid Nursery  berupa bioreaktor yang telah dimodifikasi dengan harapan nantinya nursery ini dapat mengembangkan teknologi tersebut agar dapat memenuhi kebutuhan konsumen dan bisa memproduksi anggrek klonal secara masal.Kata kunci: anggrek; bioreaktor termodifikasi; klonal; PLB (Protocorm Like Body)  Abstract DD Orchid Nursery is one of the big orchid nurseries located in Dadaprejo Village, Junrejo District, Batu City-Malang. Orchid products of DD Orchid Nursery have been popular in the national and international orchid communities. The high demand of identic orchid production in the market requires the implementation of technology to produce orchid seedlings using clonal propagation. This activity aimed to disseminate innovation of modified bioreactor technology using a simple pinwheel to increase clonal production of orchids for plasma farmers of DD Orchid and society. The target of community service activities at the DD Orchid Nursery partner site were employees of the laboratory production department who control the quality of the seedlings produced. Methods used in this activity were the socialization of bioreactor technology transfer and dissemination of bioreactor technology testing. The results of this activity contributed to the increased transfer of knowledge and skills for plasma farmers and society. In addition, this activity was conducted to introduce detailed information about modified bioreactor innovations, materials, and how bioreactors work. This activity was expected to provide DD Orchid Nursery and society innovation in orchid production. DD Orchid Nursery could increase orchid clonal seedling production to fulfill consumer demand by implementing this innovation. Keywords: orchid; modified bioreactor; clonal; PLB (Protocorm Like Body)

Abstract

Pemanasan global telah menjadi permasalahan serius yang dapat memberikan dampak terjadinya peristiwa kekeringan yang berpotensi menyebabkan penurunan hasil tanaman budidaya. Permasalahan kekeringan telah banyak diteliti sejak lama, namun isu ini masih terus berkembang hingga saat ini. Dinamika perkembangan penelitian terkait cekaman kekeringan perlu dikaji lebih dalam untuk memberikan gambaran bagi peneliti terkait celah atau gap yang memungkinkan untuk ditelaah lebih dalam. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi topik kajian terkait perkembangan penelitian dampak kekeringan di publikasi scopus mulai tahun 1990–2024 menggunakan analisis bibliometrik. Metode analisis menggunakan aplikasi reference manager Publish or Perish untuk studi literatur dan Vos Viewer untuk visualiasi pemetaan jaringan. Hasil menunjukkan adanya dinamika terkait perkembangan kajian cekaman kekeringan mulai periode 1990-2024. Hasil ekstraksi data yang diperoleh dari database Scopus sebanyak 788 publikasi dapat diketahui bahwa “effect”, “response”, “growth”, dan “plant” yang artinya bahwa penelitian terkait dampak dan respon pertumbuhan tanaman pada kondisi kekeringan telah banyak dikaji. Hasil visualisasi menunjukkan bahwa istilah “drought tolerance”, “drought resistance”,“abiotic stress toleran” menjadi istilah yang berada pada jaringan terjauh yang artinya bahwa topik tersebut masih relevan dengan isu saat ini sehingga dapat menjadi peluang riset yang dapat dikaji lebih dalam kedepannya.

Abstract

Waste management in urban areas is a serious issue if it is not handled properly and with special attention to management activities. Properly managed waste can provide economic value if it is sorted and processed at the source. The Waste Bank “BERSERI” in Burengan Village, Kediri City, plays an important role in reducing the amount of waste in urban areas through a participatory approach to the community. This community service activity aimed to provide an overview of waste management activities at the Waste Bank and to outline the involvement of the community and relevant parties in supporting waste management activities at the Waste Bank “BERSERI” in Kediri City. The community service activities conducted by the Service Team included discussions and interviews during a visit to the BERSERI Waste Bank location. The results of the interviews indicated that the Waste Bank “BERSERI” has collected various types of inorganic waste through mechanisms including sorting, weighing, recording, and distributing the proceeds from waste sales to customers. The waste collected has also been recycled into valuable products, both from inorganic and organic waste. The existence of waste bank management heavily depends on active community participation and the roles of various parties, including the government, universities, and the private sector.

Abstract

Luas daun merupakan salah satu parameter penting untuk menentukan produksi pakcoy (Brassica rapa L). Pengukuran luas daun secara non-destruktif salah satunya dapat dilakukan dengan pendekatan model persamaan matematika melalui regresi kuantil. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menduga model luas daun pakcoy dengan faktor alometrik dan pendekatan non-destruktif menggunakan regresi kuantil. Metode penelitian dilaksanakan dengan mengumpulkan data sampel daun diperoleh dari tanaman pakcoy secara acak dari berbagai level kanopi tanaman pakcoy (lower, middle dan upper) dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 163 daun. Variabel pengamatan dalam penelitian adalah lebar, panjang dan luas daun pakcoy. Metode pendugaan model luas daun dilakukan dengan pendekatan regresi OLS dan kuantil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model regresi kuantil dapat direkomendasikan untuk menduga luas daun pakcoy secara non destruksi dan cepat dengan ketepatan akurasi tinggi. Model yang dapat direkomendasikan untuk menduga luas daun pakcoy secara non-destruksi, sederhana, dan akurat yakni LA0.5 = 0.393 +0.705LW.Kata kunci: kuantil, luas daun, non-destruksi, pakcoy, regresi

Abstract

ood security is a national issue including the production of quality ruminants. The main problem in this case is the low quality of animal feed and climate change factors that feed availability is inadequate. Feed additive technology is one of solution to produce feed with high nutritional. The aim of this activity is to empower the community to downstream technology through the introduce of gamal leaf feed additive technology. The location is located in Klungkung Village, Sukorambi District, Jember Regency. The first step carried out was socialization and training on making feed additives on gamal leaves to ensure the quality and availability of additive feed. The implementation used in this acitivy is community participation and training. To find out the achievements of this socialization activity, a pre-test and post-test were made regarding farmers' understanding of the gamal leaf feed additive. The results of this community service activity show an increase in knowledge regarding gamal leaf feed additive technology from 20% to 100%. The implementation of socialization and training on making feed additives from gamal leaves went well, community participation was very good as reflected in the presence of breeders until the end of the activity in a condition of constant numbers and active discussions.

Abstract

Breadfruit chips are an example of post-harvest processing of breadfruit yields. Generally, breadfruit is only sold in the market in its raw form which has many drawbacks such as low selling price, and short shelf life, the fruit is easily damaged during the transportation process until rot occurs in the fruit. Processing breadfruit into breadfruit chips can help increase the profit margins you get. Breadfruit also has a certain harvest period or what is known as a seasonal plant can quickly experience decay so that post-harvest processing is deemed necessary to keep the product able to have a long shelf life. Tenggir Village, Panji District, Situbondo Regency is one of the villages with a relatively large number of breadfruit trees. Villagers already have the desire and enthusiasm to use the breadfruit by processing it into breadfruit chips. There is a need for community service to empower village potential and design solutions that will be offered to the community. The purpose of this program is to provide alternative solutions for simple postharvest processing of agricultural products and increase the production capacity of the breadfruit chips home industry. The result of implementing this program is an increase in one of the breadfruit chip processing home industries with indicators of increasing production capacity and business turnover. Greater support in science and finance could be scaled up to support more targeted and significant business development.

Abstract

Agronomic constraints for vegetable cultivation in riparian wetlands are low soil quality and shallow water table conditions. This study aims to identify the effect of biochar application and shallow water table on proline accumulation and plant growth of bean leaf (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) at the generative stage. This study was carried out from April to August 2018 in factorial randomized block design. The first factor was doses of biochar (0, 1, and 2 kg.m-2), and the second was shallow water table condition (20 cm and 10 cm below the soil surface) given in the generative stage. The results showed that biochar application and the shallow water table significantly affected leaf parameters; proline accumulation and increases in the sucrose levels occurred on the leaves. Proline content increased started at 3 days after treatment (DAT) and decreased at 6 DAT until recovery day (7 DAT). The biochar application of 2 kg.m-2 provided good aeration in the soil, which enhanced the bean's ability to survive under excess water. Proline accumulation is one of the adaptation mechanisms of beans to abiotic stress in shallow water table conditions.
