Abstract

This research aims to comprehensively analyze the complex interactions between voter preferences, social media, and election dynamics by reviewing existing global research documents and identifying trends, key findings, and knowledge gaps that need to be filled. This research uses a bibliometric analysis approach with data from Scopus and the Vosviewer analysis tool to visualize the data. The main findings of this research show that political dynamics increasingly influenced by social media, especially related to the spread of fake news, polarization, and populism, significantly impact voter preferences. However, these three themes, namely fake news, polarization, and populism, still require deeper study in the future due to the lack of related research. In addition, to fill research gaps, it is also necessary to develop more sophisticated analytical models, including the application of artificial intelligence and voting algorithms, to understand the influence of new technologies in the political context and how this may shape voters' preferences in the future. The study also suggests implementing stricter policies, including increasing digital literacy and accountability of social media platforms, to ensure fairer and more transparent elections in the digital era. With these steps, it is hoped that future elections will be more honest, transparent, and free from the negative influence of social media.

Abstract

Public trust is a key factor in assessing government policies, as it strengthens the connection between the state, government, and society, forming the basis for successful policy implementation. This study investigates public trust in the development of Indonesia’s new capital city (IKN), employing a qualitative approach with descriptive content analysis. Twitter discussions on IKN policies were analyzed using Nvivo 12 Plus software. The findings reveal that public trust in IKN development is generally positive, driven by the vision of IKN as a future model world city, promoting economic equality and prosperity. President Joko Widodo’s leadership also plays a pivotal role. However, concerns about environmental damage and budgetary issues have contributed to a decline in trust. The study concludes that public trust will be critical to the long-term sustainability of IKN development. This research advances the field by integrating social media analytics, particularly Twitter discussions, with public policy analysis, offering real-time insights into public sentiment toward major government projects like IKN. The novelty of this study lies in its examination of public trust specifically in the context of developing a new capital city, a rare topic within existing literature. This study contributes to the broader discourse on public trust and policy implementation by providing a unique case study on IKN. It highlights the factors that enhance and diminish public trust in large-scale government projects, offering policymakers insights on how to address concerns and build sustained trust, which is crucial for the project's future success.

Abstract

Digital literacy is a crucial skill and knowledge for modern society, yet the level of digital literacy in Indonesia remains inadequate. A substantial body of research has been conducted on digital literacy in Indonesia. However, there is a scarcity of studies that have focused specifically on digital literacy policies and their role in the development of digital governance in Indonesia. Accordingly, this research aims to address this gap by analyzing the development and implementation of Indonesia's digital literacy policy to support digital governance in Indonesia. This research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing online research methods (ORMs) and NVivo 12 Plus as an analytical tool. The findings of this study demonstrate that digital literacy is a crucial factor in ensuring citizens' active involvement in governance, the efficiency of public services, the growth of the digital economy, and the security of the digital environment. It is imperative that Indonesians possess robust digital literacy skills, as this will facilitate enhanced access to online services and facilitate the integration of society into the evolving digital democratization landscape. This condition has the potential to render Indonesia prepared and responsive to the advent of the digital age. However, the implementation of digital literacy policies is also confronted with a number of inhibiting factors, including gaps in access and infrastructure, economic and social challenges, a lack of education and training, a lack of research and data, a lack of engagement and coordination between parties, rapid technological change, and a regulatory framework that is not yet fully accommodating. Consequently, Indonesia requires adaptive policies to surmount these impediments and facilitate a more uniform increase in digital literacy. By examining the evolution and implementation of digital literacy policies in Indonesia, this study provides valuable insights for relevant stakeholders, enabling the formulation and implementation of more effective digital literacy policies.

Abstract

The research focuses on the serious threat that land or forest fires pose to Riau Province, with their profound effects on the environment, society, and economy. This research aims to identify urgent interests related to fire problems in Riau Province, analyze factors that support and hinder fire management, and develop policy recommendations to improve mitigation efforts. The data analysis process in this research relies on the Nvivo 12 Plus platform, allowing for more efficient collection, presentation and processing of qualitative data. The research results show several factors that support the implementation of agile governance, including active stakeholder involvement, adequate use of technology, and development of an integrated Geographic Information System (GIS). However, inhibiting factors were found, such as lack of resources and resistance to change. The proposed policy recommendations include strengthening stakeholder involvement through collaborative forums, improving technological infrastructure, increasing public awareness, developing rapid response protocols, regular monitoring and evaluation, strengthening laws and law enforcement, and promoting inter-regional and inter-institutional cooperation. The urgency reflects the necessity of responding promptly to prevent the damaging effects of forest and land fires on the environment, public health, and local economy.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the influence of political communication on public trust in the early post-election leadership period in Indonesia, which is often referred to as the honeymoon period. It also aims to address a gap in existing studies by emphasizing the strategic importance of political communication in this critical stage of governmental transition. This study uses a quantitative approach, and the primary data source is represented by the dataset of the Populix survey on?social media users X and TikTok, as well as additional data collected independently, such as scientific articles, news, and website information. The supplemental material was coded?via NVivo 12 Plus by adopting the method of systematic coding. These findings indicate that transparent, open, and interactive political communication is very important in building public trust in new leaders after the elections in Indonesia. Factors such as transparency, openness of information, and effective use of social media and digital platforms are key to strengthening legitimacy and public support while maintaining political stability in democratic consolidation. Furthermore, the public satisfaction levels in the different sectors in?the first 100 days of leadership also indicate a positive relationship between responsive political communication and support and the new government’s legitimacy. Abstract

Abstract

Leading up to the Presidential Election, Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo have influenced voters’ political attitudes on Twitter and demonstrated strengthening public trust in both, showing trust’s critical role in the democratization process. This research explores the relationship between Twitter use and online trust in the two candidates in the context of preparations for the 2024 presidential election in Indonesia. This research uses a quantitative approach with sentiment analysis on data from Twitter, which focuses on searching for the keywords #aniesbaswedan (17,998 Tweets) and #ganjarpranowo (17,918 Tweets) to understand the opinions, attitudes, and emotions contained in the text. These findings show that there is potential to transform public trust online. If the candidate uses Twitter effectively and succeeds in building online trust, this can provide an advantage for the candidate in their efforts to achieve victory in the 2024 Presidential Election. Ganjar Pranowo is more dominant in influencing the level of public trust in Twitter to be relatively positive, although Ganjar Pranowo also received quite a negative response. Meanwhile, Anies Baswedan needs to be more dominant to influence public trust on Twitter. The dominant factors affecting the level of trust in candidates are the coalition of political parties, Israel’s rejection, and leadership. This study also found the tendency of other factors to transform trust online, including quality content, consistency, transparency, responsiveness, ethics, sharing of references, and honesty. Social media has the potential to foster political confidence online. However, this depends on how the candidate maximizes the potential of social media.

Abstract

The idea of a smart city and a new capital city in Indonesia is complex, so planning and the government's role are crucial. The purpose of this research is based on two big questions about the government's plan for preparing for development and the potential for smart city development in the new capital city. This study was done based on the results of a direct examination of official government documents using a thematic analysis approach and an analytical tool called Nvivo 12 Plus. This research was able to show what the Indonesian government's plans are and what they could do to build smart cities in the new capital city (IKN/Nusantara). The findings of this study map out six smart city support systems, which are the government's priority plans, including urban systems, safety and security, livability and urban life, government services, the environment and sustainability, and access and mobility. They all focus on technology adaptation, digitization, renewable energy, and sustainability. Despite these priority plans, there are still significant challenges to rethinking the prospects and potential for developing smart cities in the new capital city, especially the issues of human resources, budget capacity, infrastructure, and government bureaucratic adaptation patterns. This study proposes to set up a smart governance system to adapt to the new system, primarily to accommodate those problems and challenges. It can contribute to unravelling smart cities' complexities, challenges, and future development potential.
