Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a global problem in the world. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2013 showed that deaths from complications of hypertension reached 9.4 million deaths worldwide. This study aims to determine the risk factors to the incidence of hypertension in women of reproductive age in Kedai Durian Health Center. Subjects and Method: This was a case control study carried out at Kedai Durian Health Center, Medan, Indonesia. A sample of 100 women of reproductive age was selected for this study. It consists of 50 women of reproductive age with hypertension and 50 women of reproductive age without hypertension. The dependent variable was hypertension. The independent variables were physical activity, obesity, and family history. Hypertension was measured by sphygmomanometer. The other data were collected by questionnaire. The data were analyzed by a multiple logistic regression. Results: Hypertension was associated with physical activity (OR=3.46;95% CI=1.52 to 7.90;p=0.003), obesity (OR=4.57;95% CI= 1.96 to 10.64 p<0.0001), family history (OR= 9.33;95% CI=720 to 23.41;p<0.0001), and fat consumption (OR=4.14;95% CI=1.79 to 9.57;p=0.001).Conclusion: Physical activity, obesity, family history, and fat consumption are associated with an increased risk of hypertension.

Abstract

Backround: Non-communicable diseases arise in the elderly. The degenerative cycle decreases the resistance of the body, so that it is vulnerable to infectious diseases. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is characterized by chronic hyperglycemia and impaired carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins metabolism caused by complete or partial insufficiency of insulin secretion and/or insulin action. This study aimed to examine the risk factors of type 2 DM among elderly at Muhammadiyah General Hospital, North Sumatera.Subjects dan Method: This was a case control study carried out at Muhammadiyah Hospital, North Sumatera, in 2018. Abstract

Ensefalitis virus herpes simpleks adalah inflamasi jaringan parenkim otak yang berat dan bersifat fatal yang disebabkan virus herpes simpleks yang termasuk virus golongan DNA. Penyakit ini merupakan penyebab ensefalitis fokal akut sporadik di dunia dengan insidensi tahunan 1-3 kasus per 1.000.000 penduduk. Penyakit ini dapat mengenai semua kelompok umur, namun paling banyak mengenai kelompok umur diatas 20 tahun. Penyakit ini dapat mengenai baik pria maupun wanita. Penyakit ini disebabkan virus herpes simpleks tipe 1 yang sering menyebabkan ensefalitis pada anak dan dewasa sebagai reaktivasi dari infeksi laten, dan virus herpes simpleks tipe 2 yang menyebabkan ensefalitis pada neonatus. Manifestasi klinis diawali dengan gejala menyerupai flu dan berkembang secara progresif sampai terjadinya koma. Acyclovir diberikan sebagai obat pilihan pada pengobatannya. Prognosa penyakit bergantung pada usia penderita, derajat kesadaran, kecepatan dan ketepatan pengobatan.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang dihadapi Puskesmas Muliorejo adalah tingginya jumlah penderita penyakit degeneratif seperti hipertensi dan Diabetes mellitus. Selain itu pengetahuan masyarakat tentang penyakit degeneratif dan pemeriksaan kesehatan untuk deteksi dini juga masih rendah. Dalam rangka mewujudkan masyarakat yang sehat dan terhindar dari penyakit degeneratif maka perlu mensosialisasikan pentingnya memeriksakan kesehatan secara rutin untuk deteksi dini penyakit degeneratif dan kemudian menerapkan perilaku hidup sehat dalam kehidupan sehari hari untuk pencegahan penyakit degeneartif. Kegiatan Pengabdian ini berfokus pada 3 sub- kegiatan yaitu pemeriksaan kesehatan, edukasi tentang risiko, gejala penyakit degeneratif, dan edukasi cara pencegahan melalui pengaturan pola makan yang sehat dan gaya hidup yang sehat Target luaran yang akan dihasilkan berupa 1] penulisan artikel di jurnal serta 2] pembuatan video perilaku hidup sehat. Diharapkan pengetahuan tentang penyakit degeneratif dan kesadaran masyarakat akan perilaku hidup sehat akan meningkat sehingga terjadinya penyakit degeneratif dapat dicegah. Abstract

Stunting is a health problem needs serious attention. In Bagan Deli Village, the proportion of children who are stunted was 10.37% and children with poor nutritional status was 2.9%. It has an impact on growth disorders, immune system, and furthermore, impaired children's intelligence. Optimizing the role of cadres and family involvement in stunting prevention is necessary. The aims of this activity was to educate cadres and parents in monitoring the growth of children under five, nutritional intake of children and implement of nutritional intake in daily life. From this activity, it can be seen that the cadres' knowledge increases in monitoring the growth and nutrition of children under five after training. From the health status examining on children, it was found that 33.3% of children under five were malnourished, 33.3% were with poor nutrition and 33.3% were with good nutrition. Education and family assistance are provided to parents in preparing a balanced healthy menu for children. It was suggested that parents prepared daily healthy menu and monitoring the nutrition of children under five. Therefore, community empowerment in preventing stunting in children under five is necessary

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of family support on treatment non-adherence in MDR-TB patients at H. Adam Malik Central General Hospital, Medan, in 2021. The research utilized a case-control design, with the study population comprising all outpatient MDR-TB patients who were adherent and non-adherent to treatment at H. Adam Malik Central General Hospital in 2022. The sample size included 51 adherent and 51 non-adherent patients. Data were analyzed using logistic regression. The results showed that family support significantly influenced treatment non-adherence in MDR-TB patients (OR=16,640; 95% CI 4,584-60,399; p=0.001). Integrating family support into the care of MDR-TB patients is recognized as an effective strategy to enhance adherence and treatment outcomes. Collaboration between medical teams and families can provide a foundation for a holistic MDR-TB treatment program.
