Abstract

Abstract

Covid-19 has become a global pandemic in early 2020. The government has made efforts to prevent, and spread Covid-19 cases with various efforts. This service activity aims to increase the knowledge of the majlis ta'lim congregation about covid-19 and the processing of medicinal plants to maintain immunity during a pandemic. The service method is by providing education about 5M, vaccination and demonstration of processing herbal plants into drinks. As a result of this activity, the majlis ta'lim congregation understood and implemented the 5M health protocol and most of them had followed the vaccination. In addition, the majlis ta'lim congregation has been able to take advantage of herbal plants in the environment around the house to be processed into herbal drinks. Herbal drinks made by the majlis ta'lim congregation, can also be consumed by the local community but can also be produced to improve the economy of the majlis ta'lim congregation.

Abstract

Introduction: Postpartum challenges pose significant stress and diminish maternal confidence among first-time mothers. These challenges are exacerbated by limited healthcare access, cultural influences, and logistical barriers, which complicate postpartum self-management, particularly in resource-constrained settings. Addressing these issues is essential. Methods: The study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design. The initial phase involved a quasi-experimental survey to compare self-efficacy scores between intervention and control groups, each consisting of 30 participants. Self-efficacy was measured using the Perceived Maternal Parenting Self-Efficacy (PMP S-E) scale, and the Mann-Whitney test was employed to compare group means. The second phase was a qualitative study. Participants from the intervention group were selected using simple random sampling based on odd-numbered identifiers, resulting in 15 primiparous women. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results: Participants in both groups had comparable age distributions and educational backgrounds.  The intervention group achieved a significantly higher mean score (65) compared to the control group (41.8), confirmed by a Mann-Whitney test (p < 0.001) with a large effect size (Cohen's d = 5.15). Qualitative findings identified five themes and 15 categories. Conclusions: E-coaching effectively enhances maternal self-efficacy in primiparous mothers, offering a promising approach to addressing postpartum challenges in resource-limited settings.

Abstract

Breast cancer profoundly affects patients’ quality of life (QoL), yet the relative impact of illness perception compared to demographic factors remains underexplored. This study sought to identify key determinants of QoL using a comprehensive multivariate approach, aiming to examine how illness perception influences the QoL of patients with breast cancer in Indonesia. A cross-sectional study was conducted, involving 167 patients with breast cancer from the hospital's cancer unit who were selected by purposive sampling. Demographic data, illness perception, and QoL were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Measurement models assessed reliability (Cronbach's α, CR) and validity (AVE), while structural models evaluated path coefficients (β) and predictive power (R²) using SmartPLS 4.0. Research results showed illness perception emerged as a strong predictor of QoL (β = -0.558, p < 0.001; R² = 0.360), with emotional response (loading = 0.796) and perceived consequences (loading = 0.727) identified as key dimensions. Demographic variables showed negligible influence (R² = 0.0003). Reliability was acceptable for illness perception (α = 0.699, CR = 0.794) but poor for demographic factors (α = 0.248). Model fit indices suggested moderate adequacy (SRMR = 0.104, NFI = 0.515). Illness perception, especially emotional response and perceived consequences, strongly determines QoL. Psychological interventions, education, and emotional support should be prioritized over demographic factors in breast cancer care.

Abstract

Palliative care plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with chronic and life-limiting illnesses, yet awareness remains limited, especially in resource-constrained areas like Sucinaraja, Garut Regency. This community service initiative sought to increase understanding of palliative care among members of the Muhammadiyah community through a two-day educational seminar. The program covered prevalent chronic diseases, core principles of palliative care, and identification of patients needing such services. A total of 54 participants attended, engaging in interactive lectures and practical exercises. Knowledge and awareness were assessed using pre- and post-test. Results revealed substantial improvement: post-test accuracy surpassed 80% across all knowledge items, while participants’ awareness significantly increased, with most expressing strong agreement on the importance and community relevance of palliative care. Furthermore, there was notable family support for the integration of palliative care services. This program underscores the value of culturally tailored, community-based health education and the strategic role of religious organizations in promoting public health. Future programs should explore broader outreach and evaluate long-term behavioral impacts
