Abstract

Improving EFL learners’ narrative writing remains a persistent challenge, particularly when instruction relies heavily on individual writing tasks that limit peer interaction and cognitive engagement. Recent pedagogical debates underscore the need for socially interactive approaches to writing, which are supported by digital technologies. Grounded in Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory—particularly the Zone of Proximal Development—this study explores the use of collaborative writing via Google Docs as a means of scaffolding learners’ writing performance. A quasi-experimental design was conducted with two tenth-grade classes in Indonesia: an experimental group that used Google Docs collaboratively and a control group that received conventional instruction. Writing performance was assessed using an analytical rubric encompassing content, style, language use, organization, and mechanics. The results revealed that the experimental group achieved significant improvements, particularly in content development, organizational coherence, and language accuracy. The findings underscore that collaborative writing supported by digital tools and sociocultural learning principles contributes meaningfully to the development of learners’ narrative writing performance. Accordingly, it is recommended that EFL educators adopt technology-mediated collaborative writing strategies to facilitate more interactive, engaging, and pedagogically sound writing instruction.

Abstract

This research aims to obtain entomopathogenic fungal isolates and determine the characteristics of isolates that have the potential as biological control agents for Chilo sacchariphagus. The research was conducted in the field and at the Protection Laboratory of PT Perkebunan Nusantara VII Bunga Mayang Unit and at the Biotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. This research method consists of two sub-sections; the first is the exploration of entomopathogenic fungi, the second is the morphological identification of entomopathogenic fungal isolates isolated from soil suspensions and bait insects and characteristic tests consisting of growth, sporulation, viability and pathogenicity tests against C. sacchariphagus in vitro arranged in a randomized block design (RBD). From the results of the research, six fungal isolates were obtained, two isolates was able to be identified, as Trichoderma sp., and as Aspergillus sp., while the other four isolates could not be identified. Based on the growth, sporulation, spore viability, and pathogenicity tests against C. sacchariphagus that have been carried out, the six isolates have varying characteristics. The TC (Trichoderma sp.) isolate had the highest fungal colony growth, which was 8,50 cm in diameter, the highest sporulation (3,96 x 107 spores/mL) was TNH3BB isolate, and the highest spore viability (100%) were belong the TNH3BB and TC (Trichoderma sp.) isolates, while the TNH2BA (Aspergillus sp.) isolate was able to cause the highest mortality to up, 93,33%.

Abstract

The process of collecting input data, processing it, storing it, analyzing it, and disseminating it is an information system. The purpose of this research is to develop a system that can support the data processing of cooperative members, member lists, and savings and loan processes so that accurate cooperative data and reports can be generated with data input processes and processed through a computerized database in the form of a web-based savings and loan cooperative processing information system. Faculty of Engineering at Pancasila University case studies on the Jasa Kawan Sejahtera cooperative, so that management activities are optimized. System development tools based on the UML (Unified Modeling Language) architecture are used to build this system, along with the PHP programming language, HTML, and MySQL as the database. Based on the findings of the information system that has been implemented, the top management of savings and loan cooperatives may simply and thoroughly monitor and oversee all management actions.

Abstract

Thesis statement is important in producing analytical exposition texts. However, many EFL vocational high school students encounter several problems in developing a thesis statement. This study aims to identify the problems experienced by tenth-grade students while writing thesis statements and to investigate the underlying factors causing to these problems. A qualitative case study approach was used in this study, involving students majoring in Electrical Engineering at a public vocational high school in Surabaya, Indonesia. Data were collected through document analysis from thirty students’ thesis statement and semi-structured interviews with six students. The findings revealed several common problems, particularly in formulating arguable claims, identifying clear subjects and contexts, and applying correct grammar and mechanics. Frequent errors included the use of non-debatable claims and incorrect capitalization. Contributing factors included students’ limited vocabulary and grammar knowledge, low motivation, negative attitudes toward English, lack of practice, time constraints, and lack of feedback from teachers. These results suggest the need for more focused instruction and practice in writing thesis statements.

Abstract

The Senior High School English MGMP of East Java Province faces several urgent issues, including the large number of terminologies and processes that must be internalized and implemented within the Merdeka Curriculum and its supporting components. In addition, the Senior High School English MGMP of East Java Province should specifically focus on developing instructional modules and teaching materials for Senior High School English subjects in the Merdeka Curriculum, particularly for Phase F (General and Advanced). The proposed solution to address these challenges is to provide training on breaking down the Learning Outcomes, Learning Objectives, and Learning Objective Pathways for Phase F General and Phase F Advanced, as well as on developing Phase F Instructional Modules and English teaching materials. This training is conducted through practical workshops. This method is chosen because it aligns with participant-centered principles, is non-directive, and enables teachers to work collaboratively, actively, and productively. The community service activities with the East Java Senior High School English MGMP have been carried out through several stages: coordination meetings with MGMP board members, preparation of training modules, delivery of theoretical materials, preparation of Phase F instructional module materials, offline theoretical sessions, practical workshops on developing teaching materials and instructional modules for both General and Advanced Phase F, and follow-up activities. All activities were successfully implemented, and nearly all expected outputs were achieved.
