Abstract

Abstract – Maladummes district, Saoka village is a coastal area located in the city of Sorong. In the area, natural resources are quite abundant such as catches of fish, squid, shellfish and so on, but they are not utilized optimally because the catch is only sold in fresh form. Whereas in addition to being sold in fresh form, it can also be processed into products so that the selling value increases. This is due to the slow access to incoming information in the surrounding area, due to the low level of education of local residents. Apart from that, people are left behind in the development of technology and important information that has been and is being developed. Such as important information regarding simple appropriate technology that can be applied to produce fishery products, this is because there have never been socialization activities for processing fishery products and other foods. The purpose of this activity is that the people of Saoka village are able to know about the processing of fishery products, so that later the community will be able to apply it in daily life, or make it a business area on a household scale. The method of implementation is by means of lectures and discussions with participants on how to make fish balls, fish nuggets, fish floss, seaweed meatballs and seaweed syrup. The result of the activities that have been carried out is that the people of Saoka village, Maladum district mes, Sorong city, West Papua, responded very well and enthusiastically. This is indicated by the increase in the value of the pre-test and post-test regarding the processing procedures for fishery products. Increased knowledge of partner communities by 41%. Abstract

Recently, exploration of natural antibiotic alternatives by utilizing medicinal plants is often carried out. Nutmeg plant (Myristica fragrans Houtt) is a tropical plant endemic to the Maluku Island and often used as medicine by local people. This study was aimed to isolate endophytic bacteria from the nutmeg plant and detect its potential as an antibacterial against pathogenic bacteria. The study is a descriptive observational study with a true experimental approach. Endophytic bacteria were isolated from several organs of the nutmeg plant such as leaves, leaf bones, stems, fruit flesh, and seeds and then tested for their inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus, Propionibacterium acne, and Escherichia coli. The results showed that: (1) the highest total population of endophytic bacteria was found in the seeds of nutmeg (7.5x104 CFU/ml), (2) ten isolates of endophytic bacteria were obtained with varying morphological characteristics, and (3) the detection of antibacterial activity showed that of the 10 isolates obtained, 4 isolates were able to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli, namely isolate BEAD2, BEATD1, BEABJ 2, and BEABJ 1 with the diameter of the inhibition zones of each isolate being 3.4 mm, 3.2 mm, 1.6 mm and 1.5 mm respectively. The conclusion of this study is that 4 isolates of endophytic bacteria were detected as potential antibacterial against Escherichia coli.

Abstract

In Indonesia, synthetic chemical fertilizers are generally used to spur plant growth. The use of synthetic chemical fertilizers is known to reduce soil quality, causing resistance to pests and plant diseases. One of the natural potencies that can be used as growth promoters is Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) producing bacteria. The objective of this study was to measure the levels of Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) from the rhizosphere bacterial isolate of green beans which is thought to be able to produce Indole Acetic Acid (IAA). The method used was a descriptive approach, including the isolation of green bean rhizosphere bacteria, measurement of Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) levels in bacterial isolate, and data analysis. Green bean rhizosphere bacterial isolate produced Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) with an indication of a color change after the addition of the Salkowski reagent, and quantitatively the results of calculations in the standard curve equation for Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) obtained a value of Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) levels was 50.91 ppm. Keywords: Indole acetic acid, rhizosphere, bacteria
