Abstract

Abstract--In making meaning requires a representative word choice. Likewise, citations and references are required to be thorough in doing so. Need training that can integrate applications that make work like this more accessible. Mendeley is the application chosen to be applied to the participants in Balongsari village because of the function of this tool which is relatively easy to use by the participants. In this training, the service found that most of the participants, in general, did not know Mendeley's application. However, after the training, the participants knew how to use the Mendeley application. In a more specific sense, Mendeley's training is also a form of plagiarism that may arise due to someone's negligence in writing an article.

Abstract

Lesson Study for Learning Community is very important be implemented in schools considering that it will have many positive impacts to  teachers who still need professional development. Lesson Study for Learning Community training was held at SMK Bhinneka Karawang using in a workshop. The material presented is divided into 3 parts, namely 1) Planning Stage (Plan), 2) Reflection Stage (See), and 3) Implementation Stage (Do). By implementing the Lesson Study for Learning Community Training at the Bhinneka Karawang Vocational School, it can improve the quality of learning that prioritizes student-centered learning, as well as the establishment of learning communities among teachers and students that are useful for increasing the effectiveness of academic communication in order to improve the quality of learning. Lesson Study for Learning Community sangat penting agar bisa dilaksanakan di sekolah karena akan memberikan banyak dampak positif. Selain itu, guru masih memerlukan pengembangan keprofesionalannya. Oleh karena itu, pelatihan Lesson Study for Learning Community ini diselenggarakan di SMK Bhinneka Karawang dengan menggunakan pendekatan workshop. Materi yang disajikan terbagi menjadi 3 bagian yaitu 1)Tahap Perencanaan (Plan), 2) Tahap Refleksi (See), dan 3) Tahap Pelaksanaan (Do). Dengan telah dilaksanakannya Pelatihan Lesson Study for Learning Community di SMK Bhinneka Karawang, para guru dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran yang mengutamakan layanan hak belajar siswa, serta terbangunnya komunitas belajar antar-guru, antar-siswa, dan antara siswa dengan guru yang bermanfaat untuk meningkatkan keefektifan komunikasi akademik dalam rangka memperbaiki kualitas pembelajaran.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan realisasi proses material dalam klausa bahasa Indonesia dengan menggunakan pendekatan Linguistik Sistemik Fungsional (LSF). Data penelitian berupa satu teks naratif berbahasa Indonesia yang dianalisis secara menyeluruh untuk menjaga keutuhan makna wacana. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis berbasis teori sistem transitivitas yang dikembangkan oleh Eggins (2004). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa proses material dapat direalisasikan melalui berbagai pola struktur klausa, seperti Aktor ^ Proses, Proses ^ Tujuan, Aktor ^ Proses ^ Tujuan ^ Sirkumstansi, serta pola kompleks seperti Inisiator ^ Proses ^ Aktor ^ Proses ^ Tujuan. Selain itu, ditemukan juga bentuk pelesapan partisipan (aktor maupun tujuan) dan penggabungan proses material dengan proses mental dalam satu konstruksi klausa. Temuan ini mempertegas prinsip dasar dalam LSF bahwa bahasa merupakan sistem pilihan yang membentuk makna pengalaman (experiential meaning). Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi awal dalam pengembangan kajian gramatika bahasa Indonesia berbasis LSF, serta menjadi rujukan dalam pembelajaran analisis wacana dan linguistik fungsional.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The integration of technology in English language learning, particularly for enhancing pronunciation skills, has become increasingly relevant in the digital era. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of utilizing the ELSA Speak application in improving students’ English pronunciation, with a focus on its impact on learning motivation, pronunciation accuracy, and learner autonomy. The research questions address how ELSA Speak influences student engagement and adaptive teaching strategies. Employing a qualitative design through a literature review approach, this study analyzes scholarly sources related to the use of ELSA Speak in language instruction. Data were collected by reviewing indexed journals, with inclusion criteria focusing on relevance to pronunciation and educational technology. The findings reveal that ELSA Speak, through its speech recognition and real-time feedback features, effectively enhances pronunciation accuracy, fosters student motivation, and supports independent learning. However, challenges such as unstable internet access and varying levels of digital literacy must be addressed to ensure its effectiveness. This study concludes that ELSA Speak has the potential to serve as an innovative and inclusive tool for English language learning. It further implies that the role of teachers as facilitators is essential in optimizing the use of this application. The study recommends digital literacy training for both educators and students to support more effective implementation. ABSTRAK Penggunaan teknologi dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, khususnya untuk meningkatkan keterampilan pengucapan, menjadi semakin relevan di era digital. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji efektivitas penggunaan aplikasi ELSA Speak dalam meningkatkan keterampilan pelafalan bahasa Inggris siswa, dengan fokus pada dampaknya terhadap motivasi belajar, ketepatan pelafalan, dan pembelajaran mandiri. Pertanyaan penelitian mencakup bagaimana ELSA Speak memengaruhi keterlibatan siswa dan strategi pengajaran yang adaptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka, menganalisis sumber-sumber akademik terkait penggunaan ELSA Speak dalam pembelajaran bahasa. Data dikumpulkan melalui tinjauan literatur dari jurnal terindeks, dengan kriteria inklusi yang mencakup relevansi dengan pelafalan dan teknologi pendidikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ELSA Speak, melalui fitur speech recognition dan umpan balik langsung, efektif meningkatkan ketepatan pengucapan, memotivasi siswa, dan mendukung pembelajaran mandiri. Namun, tantangan seperti keterbatasan koneksi internet dan literasi teknologi perlu diatasi untuk memastikan efektivitasnya. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa ELSA Speak berpotensi menjadi alat yang inovatif dan inklusif dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, dengan implikasi bahwa peran guru sebagai fasilitator sangat penting untuk mengoptimalkan penggunaan aplikasi ini. Studi ini merekomendasikan pelatihan literasi teknologi bagi pendidik dan siswa untuk mendukung implementasi yang lebih efektif.

Abstract

This research aimed to learn what the students thought about using collaborative techniques in writing a text. A case study was chosen as the research design in this research, with a qualitative approach. Data collection for this research was interviews. The researcher utilized interviews to get a deeper understanding of students' perspectives. To evaluate the data, the researcher applied theories from Miles et al. (2014). Based on the interviews, the researcher concluded that students preferred collaborative writing over writing alone because it was quicker, simpler, and more enjoyable. This was supported by the research's findings. Along with the benefits, students also experienced challenges due to individuality and differences in opinion when writing text through collaborative techniques.

Abstract

Umpan balik membantu siswa menilai tulisan mereka dan melihat apakah tulisan itu bagus atau perlu perbaikan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana siswa EFL kejuruan menanggapi umpan balik tertulis dari gurunya dan terlibat dengan Umpan Balik Korektif Tertulis (Written Corrective Feedback). Makalah ini menggunakan desain studi kasus. Pengumpulan dokumen dan wawancara digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Penelitian ini menemukan tiga kategori keterlibatan siswa terhadap umpan balik koreksi tertulis dari guru: yaitu keterlibatan afektif, perilaku, dan kognitif. Singkatnya, keterlibatan kognitif siswa dengan umpan balik korektif tertulis dari guru melibatkan pemrosesan dan pemahaman umpan balik secara aktif, sementara keterlibatan perilaku melibatkan pengambilan tindakan berdasarkan umpan balik tersebut, dan keterlibatan afektif melibatkan respons emosional dan motivasi terhadap umpan balik tersebut. Temuan ini menyoroti bahwa kurangnya kemahiran berbahasa Inggris dapat membatasi kemampuan siswa sekolah menengah atas untuk secara efektif menerima umpan balik guru mereka dalam menulis, khususnya dalam menulis teks recount di kelas EFL.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi persepsi siswa terhadap pembelajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris melalui film berbahasa Inggris di platform YouTube. Dengan fokus pada sebuah sekolah vokasi di Karawang, penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan instrumen berupa wawancara semi-struktural terhadap 5 partisipan dan penyebaran angket kepada 20 partisipan. Temuan penelitian ini disajikan berdasarkan hasil wawancara dan angket yang mencakup pengetahuan tentang ketersediaan film berbahasa Inggris di YouTube, kesulitan dalam memahami film tanpa terjemahan, minat terhadap pembelajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris melalui film di YouTube, gangguan teknis saat menonton film, serta persepsi terhadap strategi pembelajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris dengan memanfaatkan film di YouTube.Hasil wawancara menunjukkan bahwa partisipan memiliki pengetahuan tentang ketersediaan film berbahasa Inggris di YouTube, tetapi mengalami kesulitan memahami isi film tanpa terjemahan ke bahasa Indonesia. Meskipun demikian, mereka menunjukkan minat yang tinggi terhadap metode pembelajaran ini. Hasil angket menunjukkan bahwa partisipan secara keseluruhan menyatakan bahwa menonton film berbahasa Inggris di YouTube dinilai menarik dan menghibur. Mereka juga sepakat bahwa penjelasan lebih lanjut dari pendidik tentang frasa atau idiom tertentu dalam film membantu pemahaman mereka dengan lebih cepat. Partisipan juga setuju bahwa film di YouTube memberikan wawasan tentang kebudayaan yang berbeda dan tidak melanggar norma kesopanan dan kesusilaan. Dari hasil ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa partisipan menunjukkan respons positif terhadap pembelajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris melalui film berbahasa Inggris di YouTube.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and identify various types of relational processes found in Sundanese. The analysis is conducted using the perspective of Functional Systemic Linguistics, with a special focus on the transitivity system in the Sundanese language structure. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach. The data collection technique in this research is sourced from Mangle magazine. The data analysis technique involves classifying the clauses into attributive and identifying relational processes based on the transitivity system in Functional Systemic Linguistics. The results show that the texts in the Sundanese-language Mangle magazine contain typical Sundanese relational processes. The types of relational processes found are attributive and identifying relational processes. Each of these types is further divided into more specific categories: intensive, possessive, and circumstantial. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan mengidentifikasi berbagai jenis proses relasional yang terdapat dalam bahasa Sunda. Analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan perspektif Linguistik Sistemik Fungsional, dengan fokus khusus pada sistem transitivitas dalam struktur bahasa Sunda. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif.  Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini bersumber majalah Mangle. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengklasifikasikan klausa-klausa ke dalam proses relasional atributif dan identifikatif berdasarkan perspektif sistem transitivitas dalam Linguistik Sistemik Fungsional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teks-teks dalam majalah Mangle berbahasa Sunda mengandung proses relasional khas bahasa Sunda. Jenis proses relasional yang ditemukan adalah proses relasional atributif dan proses relasional identifikatif. Masing-masing dari kedua jenis proses relasional tersebut selanjutnya terbagi lagi menjadi tipe-tipe yang lebih spesifik, seperti intensive, possessive, dan circumstantial.

Abstract

This research examines the effectiveness of Memrise, a mobile vocabulary learning app, in enhancing vocabulary retention for language learners. In the context of digital advancements reshaping education, Memrise's gamified approach provides an engaging platform for vocabulary mastery. Drawing on cognitive theories, including Cognitive Load Theory and Spaced Repetition, the study analyzes how Memrise utilizes these principles to bolster vocabulary retention. Through a literature review of 20 sources, common themes, patterns, discrepancies, and future research suggestions are identified. Findings underscore Memrise's potential in vocabulary learning, with themes including mobile app preferences, gamification, motivation, autonomy, and technical considerations. While nuances exist, the overall consensus supports Memrise's positive impact on language education. The study underscores the need for further research to explore wider contexts, replication, and addressing technical aspects. Ultimately, Memrise demonstrates promise in improving vocabulary acquisition through its gamified interface, contributing to the evolving landscape of language education.

Abstract

In the current era of globalization, the ability to speak English is becoming increasingly important in various fields, including politics, diplomacy, and education. This investigation uses the Len's systematic functionally method to try to explain the theme and rheme of Maudy Ayunda's spoken work.  Through the analysis of themes and rhemes in political and diplomatic speeches, this study aims to make a significant contribution to teaching English, especially by enriching teaching materials related to political and diplomatic speeches. Descriptive text employing Michael Halliday's SFL viewpoint technique is the study methodology employed. The speech given by Maudy Ayunda at a press conference regarding the appointment of the government spokesperson for Indonesia's G20 presidency serves as the study material. Through the analysis of themes and rhemes in speech sentences, this research assists students in understanding the structure and meaning of texts as well as improving their ability to understand, analyze, and respond to the texts effectively. The results of this investigation can be utilized for developing English teaching materials that facilitate understanding the meaning and context of texts. By understanding the use of themes and rhemes in political speeches, students can improve their ability to comprehend better, analyze, and respond to such texts. In teaching English, understanding themes and rhemes in political and diplomatic speeches holds significant value. Analyzing themes and rhemes helps students grasp the structure and meaning of texts, thereby enriching English language teaching materials related to the register of political and diplomatic speech.
