Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences between schools and madrasahs, the impacts they cause, and the efforts needed to make education more inclusive and equitable. In Indonesia, the education system is divided into two large institutions, namely public schools and madrasahs. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to analyze the dichotomy between schools and madrasahs. The results of the study are that differences in curriculum, facilities, and public perceptions create gaps in the quality of education. Therefore, efforts to integrate the curriculum and improve madrasah facilities need to be made. A more inclusive education system can be realized through steps such as integrating the curriculum between madrasahs and public schools, increasing the allocation of funds and madrasah facilities, eliminating negative stereotypes through inclusive public campaigns. Further research can be conducted using field methods to understand the conditions of madrasahs in more depth.

Abstract

This study examines the adaptation of Islamic education curriculum in madrasahs in facing the challenges of modern development. The main focus is on the limitations that hinder the implementation of relevant curriculum, including resource limitations and integration between religious knowledge and science. This study is categorized as qualitative, namely research that produces descriptive data in the form of written words. Literature research or also called library research is a type of research that limits activities only to library collection materials and document studies without requiring field data (field research). Through a qualitative approach, this study suggests the need for curriculum updates involving digital technology, improving teacher competency, and collaborating with industry. This study also highlights the importance of developing digital literacy skills and critical thinking to prepare students for the global workforce. This study found that the main challenges in adapting Islamic education curriculum in madrasahs do not guarantee the absence of human resources, limited facilities, and resistance to change. The importance of technology integration, strengthening teacher competency, and collaboration between madrasahs, families, and communities are also revealed as factors that can increase the effectiveness of the curriculum. In addition, a curriculum is needed that supports 21st century skills to face the development of the times.

Abstract

The transformation of Islamic education in the digital era is a consequence of advances in information technology that have changed learning systems, patterns of knowledge transmission, and students’ learning culture. Although technological innovation expands access to learning resources and improves learning effectiveness, the development of virtual spaces and algorithmic culture also presents challenges in the form of an instant culture of acquiring knowledge, declining ethical conduct in seeking knowledge, weak critical thinking skills in evaluating religious information, and a shift in scholarly authority from teachers to social media and digital algorithms. This study aimed to analyze the transformation of Islamic education in the digital era, examine the impact of technological innovation on learning, and identify the implications of algorithmic culture for students’ character development. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using library research through the analysis of various relevant sources. The results of the review showed that the transformation of Islamic education is characterized by changes in learning systems, patterns of knowledge transmission, and students’ learning culture. Technological innovation provides opportunities to improve the quality of Islamic education learning, but algorithmic culture also encourages the formation of instant, partial religious understanding with minimal verification. A character crisis has emerged because the internalization of Islamic values in the use of digital technology has not yet occurred optimally. This study concludes that strengthening Islamic digital literacy, developing innovative learning based on Islamic values, and implementing character education that emphasizes morality and ethical conduct are the main strategies for realizing a transformation of Islamic education that is adaptive to technological developments without losing its Islamic identity and values.
