Abstract

Mosques are places of worship that not only serve as centers for religious practices but also play an active role in community muamalah (socio-economic) activities. The Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI), a partner of the Islamic Economics Study Program Universitas Negeri Surabaya, is a national-level organization dedicated to realizing the role of mosques as centers for worship, community development, and unity. The Islamic Economics Study Program Universitas Negeri Surabaya collaborates with DMI Karang Pilang to implement community service programs aimed at developing mosques and their congregations in the DMI Surabaya. This community service program targets MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) actors who are mosque congregants, as well as congregants who intend to start businesses at mosques under the supervision of DMI Surabaya, located in the Karang Pilang District. The program's activities include workshops and socialization sessions focused on the importance of sharia-compliant financial management for MSMEs and practical guidance on implementing financial management in accordance with sharia. The expected outcome of this program is that MSME actors and congregants intending to start businesses will gain a comprehensive understanding of proper financial management and successfully apply it, thereby preparing them to navigate the challenges of uncertain economic conditions.

Abstract

Islamic banking plays a crucial role in driving economic growth and stability in Indonesia. Islamic banking has shown positive growth, including in BUS, UUS, and BPRS. The market share of Islamic banking has also grown, reaching 6.74% of the national banking sector. However, there are challenges in ensuring that the financing products offered can enhance the bank's profitability while adhering to Islamic values. This study aims to determine the effect of profit sharing financing and non-profit sharing financing both partially and simultaneously on profitability (ROA) at Sharia Commercial Banks. The research method used in this study is quantitative research method with Multiple Linear Regression analysis model. The results showed that partial profit-sharing financing had a negative and significant effect on profitability (ROA), and partial non-profit-sharing financing had a positive and significant effect on profitability (ROA). while simultaneously profit-sharing financing and non-profit-sharing financing affect profitability (ROA). The implications of this study's results suggest that non-profit-sharing financing can be a more profitable alternative for banks in enhancing profitability, allowing them to focus more on developing non-profit-sharing financing products to achieve better economic stability.

Abstract

Introduction: With growing interests from investors and researchers in ethical investing—partly driven by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—this study examines the connection between Socially Responsible Investments (SRI) and Islamic finance. Given that these two approaches share common objectives, this study investigates the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure with Islamic screening principles that affect a firm’s value. Methods: The study focuses on companies listed on the Indonesia Sharia Stock Index (ISSI). It employes pooled Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) with a Random Effect Model (REM) to analyze the impact of ESG on firm value. Results: The findings indicate that ESG scores significantly affect a company’s operations, financial performance, and market standing. However, the impact varies depending on the specific ESG factors. Governance factors demonstrate a stronger association with firm value compared to environmental, economic, and social factors. Conclusion and suggestion: This results suggest that while ESG reporting is crucial, the specific focus areas highlighted in a company’s sustainability disclosures can influence performance in different ways. Strong evidence shows that sustainability reports significantly impact organizational performance. Furthermore, sharia-compliant companies are encouraged to emphasize Islamic values within their sustainability reporting to enhance transparency and appeal to investors. For Sharia-compliant companies in Indonesia, strategically integrating and transparently reporting ESG principles, especially those aligning with Islamic values, is becoming essential for enhancing financial performance, complying with new regulations, and attracting Muslim investors.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study explores the role of technology in halal certification using bibliometric analysis. Based on 88 articles from the Scopus database (2014–2024), the research employs tools like Publish or Perish (PoP), Microsoft Excel, and VOSviewer to reveal the intellectual framework of relevant literature. The finding indicates a steady increase in manuscript productivity from 2014-2024 despite a declining citation trend. Journal of Islamic Marketing, Mohd Zabiedy Mohd Sulaiman, Malaysia, and the National Defence of Malaysia emerged as most prolific journal, author, country, and institution that produce the most, respectively, in publishing on the topic. The paper that has influenced other research the most is Rejeb et al.’s integrating the IoT in the halal food supply chain: a systematic literature review and research agenda. Five significant keyword clusters that frequently show up in the 88 articles examined in this study are halal supply chain, consumer behavior towards halal foods, the role of blockchain in the halal industry, the role of information technology in halal cosmetics, and halal logo in food products. This study highlights the increasing integration of technology in halal certification, emphasizing the need for continuous innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and alignment with industry demands to maintain relevance. Additionally, it underscores Malaysia’s leadership in this field while noting the global expansion of halal research, the impact of emerging technologies like blockchain and IoT, and the need for stronger institutional collaboration to enhance transparency, traceability, and market growth.

Abstract

Background: Cash waqf in Indonesia is optimized through the use of digital media to improve access, transparency, and public participation, particularly among the tech-savvy younger generation. This led to the formulation of effective strategies, which enabled the understanding of factors influencing digital waqf intention, including gender-based differences. Objective: This present study aims to explore gender differences in respect to the determinants of intention towards participating in digital cash waqf. This was realized by comparing responses between male and female Generation Z individuals. Methods: This quantitative study adopted purposive sampling method to collect data. Subsequently, a total of 645 respondent data were processed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) method with the assistance of SmartPLS 4.0 software. Results: The male and female respondents stated that cash waqf literacy did not influence trust and behavioral intention. However, perceived ease of e-cash waqf significantly impacted both trust and behavioral intention. Majority of the male respondents reported that religiosity, and trust in nazhir had a significant impact. Both genders stated that religiosity did not moderate the relationship between the variables. Conclusion: In conclusion, the importance of technological ease of use and religiosity in influencing trust and intention to contribute to digital cash waqf was analyzed. Based on this perspective, both variables impacted trust and behavioral intention. The female respondents perceived trust as an insignificant factor, and recommended nazhir institutions partnered with financial technology (fintech) companies to develop user-friendly platforms. This included the engagement of female donors through religious education. The numerous campaigns should focus on technological literacy and the religious value of digital waqf contributions. Abstract

This article aims to analyze the effect of halal tourism attributes, halal tourism awareness, and social media use on travel interest. Data analysis was conducted using regression techniques to assess the relationship between the independent variables (halal tourism attributes, halal tourism awareness, and social media) with the dependent variable (travel interest) using the GSCA Pro application. The results showed that halal tourism attributes and social media usage significantly influenced travel interest. However, halal tourism awareness was not found to have a significant effect on travel interest. This suggests that, although there is an increasing awareness of halal tourism, this factor may not be the main one in influencing tourists' decision to choose a halal tourism destination.
