Abstract

Abstract

Empowering the values and moral education in the Pancasila Education subject often experiences problems from a lack of student participation and attention because learning methods are considered monotonous. Community service programs targeting eighth-grade students at SMP PGRI 01 Dau aim to provide insight into the use of digital comics as an alternative learning medium that is contextual and interesting and in accordance with the character of a generation digitally. The strategy adopted the PIMA (preparation, implementation, monitoring, and appraisal) model that includes needs assessment, educational workshops, student response feedback, and impact evaluation. The results showed that digital comics effectively enhanced students’ understanding of noble national values such as mutual cooperation, tolerance, honesty, and responsibility. Reflective questionnaires showed that more than 85 percent of students felt that moral values in digital comic stories were easier to understand and apply. The initiative has also had a beneficial effect on students' motivation to adopt ethical conduct and in consolidating their national identity. This medium of digital comics became fun and transformational because visual narratives made the core value-based ideology easily digestible. There are commonalities to constructivist theory, contextual learning models, and dual coding theory, all of which can be clearly related to character education supported by technology. Considering the aforementioned, digital comics are suggested to be a novel approach for value-based learning in secondary schools.

Abstract

This paper examines the evolution of legal dispute resolution mechanisms within non-litigation channels, focusing on the traditional villages of Blitar and Karangasem in Indonesia from 1984 to 2023. There is a need to understand how local wisdom contributes to effective dispute resolution, particularly in regions where formal legal institutions may be limited. This research analyses how indigenous communities integrate Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) principles with customary (adat) law, fostering a hybrid system that balances cultural values and contemporary legal frameworks. The paper draws on ethnographic fieldwork, in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, and case studies of dispute settlements in the selected villages. Historical records and legal documents regarding customary disputer solutions were also examined. The results indicate that the villagers have modified their traditional approaches over the last four decades to deal with contemporary problems such as land disputes, family conflicts, and governance issues. This study also focuses on consensus, reconciliation, and restorative justice, which are considered key factors for social cohesion and dealing with social conflicts. The findings highlight that integrating ADR with adat-based mechanisms strengthens legal pluralism and provides an alternative resolution of issues; this integration is more appropriate than litigation in rural, culturally diverse societies. Moreover, the study suggests that these non-litigation practices are socially cohesive between community members because they ensure that dispute resolution is aligned with the community’s cultural norms and common identity. The study also theorizes that justice and social order can be maintained through a better understanding and empowerment of customary laws. This research provides insight into the wider world of legal pluralism as it explores how traditional modes of dispute resolution remain important within modern legal systems.

Abstract

This study examines the legal dilemma between workers’ rights to religious holiday allowances and enforcement challenges using a socio-legal approach integrating normative analysis and empirical data. Religious holiday allowances are mandated under Indonesia Government Regulation No. 36 of 2021 to guarantee workers’ wellbeing during religious festivities. However, enforcement remains problematic in East Java, leaving some gaps between legal provisions and implementation. Based on the data issued by East Java manpower and transmigration office, complaints rose from 23 cases (1,734 workers) in 2022 to 51 cases (5,666 workers) in 2023, then dipped to 27 cases (382 workers) in 2024. This figure climbed again to 36 cases (2,685 workers) in 2025. The 2023 spike and 2025 rebound highlight persistent systemic compliance issues within SMEs and the informal sector. Limited inspection resources, informal settlements, and low employer legal awareness continue to hinder enforcement. This study argues for strengthening institutional enforcement, monitoring systems, and legal literacy to improve religious holiday allowance compliance. This article contributes to labour rights enforcement discussions in Indonesia, illustrating tensions between legal ideals and practical realities within the labour system in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background-This study examines the effectiveness of ChatGPT-assisted Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in improving student learning outcomes in civic education. Traditional PBL often relies on tutor facilitation, which can result in inconsistent support and limited access to learning resources. Objectives-This study addresses this limitation by integrating ChatGPT as a support tool within the PBL process. Method-A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design was used, involving 70 undergraduate students divided into an experimental group (ChatGPT-assisted PBL, n = 35) and a control group (conventional PBL, n = 35). Student learning outcomes were measured using a 25-item multiple-choice test. Data were analyzed using ANCOVA to control for pretest differences. Results-The results showed a significant effect of the instructional method on posttest scores, F (1,67) = 22.13, p < .001. The adjusted mean score of the experimental group (M = 86.02) was higher than that of the control group (M = 78.58), with a large effect size (partial η² = .29). Conclusions-These findings indicate that integrating ChatGPT into PBL can improve student learning outcomes by providing consistent support during problem-solving activities. This study contributes empirical evidence on the use of AI in civic education and supports its integration into problem-based learning environments.

Abstract

Vocational education in Vocational High Schools requires learning that is not only oriented to mastering concepts, but also to students' ability to apply knowledge contextually following the demands of the contextual problem. However, the dominance of conventional learning still has the potential to produce learning outcomes that are less meaningful and difficult to transfer to real situations. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the contextual learning approach in improving the learning outcomes of vocational school students. A quantitative research methodology was applied using a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design to examine the effects of the intervention. The research population was class X students at SMK Darul Amin Madura, with a sample of 80 students divided into experimental groups and control groups of 40 students each. The results revealed a statistically significant difference in posttest scores, with the experimental group outperforming the control group with t score equivalent to 3.27 (p < 0.01). ANCOVA results confirmed that the learning approach had a significant effect on learning outcomes after controlling for initial ability (F = 10.84; p < 0.01; partial η² = 0.12). In addition, the N-gain value of the experimental group (M = 0.67; moderate–high category) was higher than that of the control group (M = 0.38; moderate category). These findings show that the contextual learning approach is effective in improving the learning outcomes of vocational school students.

Abstract

Early childhood education is a crucial stage in the development of legal awareness and adherence to rules; however, teachers’ competence in fostering this awareness through a deep learning approach is still not optimal. A preliminary survey of early childhood education teachers revealed that the majority still rely on instructional and rote-learning methods, with limited understanding of deep learning as a reflective learning approach. This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of HIMPAUDI member teachers in Malang Regency to apply deep learning in fostering legal awareness among young children, particularly regarding compliance with rules. The methods used include outreach through the provision of educational materials, discussions, and the implementation of best practices in deep learning for fostering legal awareness in young children. The outcome of this program is an increase in the participants’ science and technology. This program successfully shifted teachers’ paradigms from an authoritative and rote-learning approach toward a participatory, reflective, and experience-based approach in fostering legal awareness in early childhood. Similar capacity-building programs are recommended for replication in other regions to ensure the sustainability of strengthening the pedagogical competencies of early childhood education (PAUD) teachers in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to developed and preliminarily evaluated a Generative-AI-supported gamified Project-Based Civic Learning (GPBL-Civ) framework to strengthen student engagement and creative performance. This study employed a research and development method using the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation), The study involved undergraduate Civic Education students and aimed to examine the feasibility and effectiveness of a gamified project-based civic learning strategy supported by generative AI. Data were collected using expert validation instruments and student assessment tools. Feasibility was evaluated by four experts across strategy and content dimensions using Likert-scale questionnaires aligned with course learning outcomes. Effectiveness was examined through a single-group pretest–posttest design in one Civic Education class. Student engagement was measured using a validated engagement scale, while creativity was assessed using rubric-based evaluations of student projects. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics and normalized gain (N-gain) to determine improvements in engagement and creativity. The results indicate that the Generative-AI-assisted gamified Project-Based Civic Learning framework was rated “feasible” to “very feasible” by expert validators assessing both strategy and content. Classroom try-out results showed moderate improvements in student engagement (average N-gain = 0.66) across behavioral, emotional, and cognitive dimensions. Student creativity also demonstrated meaningful gains (average N-gain = 0.68), as reflected in rubric-based assessments of originality, elaboration, and effectiveness. Overall, the findings suggest that the developed framework has strong potential to enhance student participation and improve the quality of project outcomes in Civic Education courses. The instructional package may serve as a practical classroom supplement for university instructors implementing project-based civic learning with responsible use of Generative AI.
