Abstract

This research aims to develop and evaluate an android-based mobile survey application to measure passenger satisfaction with transportation service standards to Mentawai Island. The application that has been developed will help in the evaluation process so that the improvement of sea transportation services can be improved. This study used the 4D development model and involved 30 passengers of the Mentawai Fest Ship as research subjects. The research instruments used were a validation questionnaire and a practicality test. A survey of public satisfaction with transportation services to Mentawai Island using an Android-based application will be developed, implemented, and evaluated. The results show that the application effectively meets the community's needs, shows high validity, and provides a convenient feedback mechanism for users. Overall, these findings contribute to efforts aimed at improving the quality of transportation services and the overall passenger experience.

Abstract

This research was conducted to develop a state-of-the-art Android application to measure the satisfaction of agents involved in the sailing approval process. The main objective is to improve the efficiency and satisfaction of ship agents during the process of issuing sailing permits at the Harbour Master and Port Authority, Teluk Bayur, Sumatera Barat, Indonesia. This research involves the design and development of an Android-based survey application, which has undergone expert validation and usability testing to ensure its effectiveness. This research used the Plomp development model and involved 21 people who made arrangements at the Port Authority office as research subjects. The results of the study show that the newly developed application is valid for assessing agent satisfaction in managing the services for issuing Sailing Permits, with a material validity of 0.87 and a media validity of 0.88. Furthermore, the results of the agents' evaluation show that the Android-based agent satisfaction survey is very practical, with a practicality rate of 93%. This study also outlines the limitations encountered during the research and proposes future recommendations to improve the research. In conclusion, this research highlights the practicality and validity of the developed Android-based Agent Satisfaction Survey application.

Abstract

Kebakaran merupakan salah satu resiko yang dapat terjadi kapan saja dan dimana saja dalam kegiatan pelayaran kapal laut. Tingginya tingkat resiko kebarakan maka diperlukan suatu sistem penanggulangan kebakaran dengan baik sehingga ketika terjadi keadaan darurat khususnya kebakaran di atas kapal diperlukan pengoptimalan dalam pelaksanaan fire drill. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan fire drill untuk meningkatkan keselamatan crew KM. Jaya Elo 01 dan bagaimana pemahaman para crew kapal dalam pelaksanaan fire drill. Pada karya ilmiah ini penulis menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dan sumber data primer dan sekunder. Proses dari teknik pengumpulan data tugas akhir ini dengan melakukan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini dapat diketahui bahwa penerapan fire dirll dikapal KM. Jaya Elo 01 sesuai dengan peraturan SOLAS 1974. Maka, menurut penulis kurang optimal dan maksimal karena banyaknya jadwal fire dirll yang diganti ke safety metting

Abstract

Human Resource Management (HRM) is the key to the failure or success of educational institutions. The three main factors that influence HRM at Poltekpel Sumbar are leadership, employee engagement and work environment. The purpose of this study is to see the relationship between these four factors including leadership, work environment, employee engagement and HRM at Poltekpel Sumbar. This study was conducted at Merchant Marine Polytechnic of West Sumatera. The research participants were all employees with a total of 154 people. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Data collection was carried out by giving questionnaires directly to the participants. The questionnaire data analysis technique was carried out using linear regression. The conclusion of this study indicated that there is a significant influence of leadership on HRM, employee engagement on HRM, employee engagement on the work environment, and leadership on the work environment. Meanwhile, there is no significant influence of the work environment on HRM and leadership on employee engagement. Further research can also examine in more depth other research variables related to HRM in all vocational higher education institution under the Ministry of Transportation, namely in the maritime, land and railway and aviation institution.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop an entrepreneurship teaching module utilizing a Learning Management System (LMS) to enhance the learning process at the Politeknik Pelayaran Sumatera Barat. The module was designed using the ADDIE model, encompassing analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. The research involved 72 students from the Marine Transportation program in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. Material and media experts conducted validation using observation sheets and questionnaires. The findings indicated that the LMS-based module achieved excellent validity, with an average expert validation score of 91.2%.Furthermore, students' responses regarding usability, ease of use, and user satisfaction were categorized as "very good," with an average score of 89.7%. The module enhanced learning flexibility and student engagement through interactive and relevant content like e-business planning and business feasibility studies. This module is expected to improve the quality of entrepreneurship education and better prepare students to face the challenges of the business world. Future research could explore integrating AI and AR technologies to enrich the learning experience and conduct longitudinal evaluations to assess its impact on learning outcomes and skill development.

Abstract

Ports play a vital role as maritime transport hubs, logistics centers, and gateways for international trade. However, port operations also pose potential negative impacts on the marine environment, including water and air pollution as well as degradation of coastal ecosystems. To address these challenges, the Green Port concept emerges as a strategic solution that emphasizes sustainable port management through the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies, emission reduction, energy efficiency, and improved waste management systems. This study aims to analyze the influence of Green Port implementation on preventing marine environmental pollution in Indonesian ports. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review, analysis of international and national regulations, and case studies of Green Port practices in several major Indonesian ports. The findings indicate that the implementation of Green Port significantly reduces pollution risks through the application of eco-friendly operational standards, development of waste treatment facilities, utilization of renewable energy, and digitalization of port systems to improve operational efficiency. Furthermore, adopting Green Port practices enhances the global competitiveness of Indonesian ports by aligning with international standards such as those set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Environmental Management System ISO 14001. The study concludes that the success of Green Port implementation relies not only on technological innovation but also on the commitment of government, port operators, and the awareness of all maritime stakeholders. Therefore, Green Port serves as an essential instrument in protecting environmental sustainability while supporting the growth of Indonesia’s maritime economy.

Abstract

Mesin induk (main engine) merupakan penggerak utama kapal yang berperan penting dalam proses kelancaran pelayaran. Salah satu masalah yang sering terjadi pada saat mesin induk (main engine) beroperasi secara maksimum adalah overheat. Oleh karena itu, operasi sistem pendinginan mesin induk (main engine cooling system) sangat penting untuk meminimalisir terjadinya overheat pada mesin induk (main engine) agar tidak mengakibatkan terjadinya kerusakan fatal pada mesin. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi, data dan fakta-fakta nyata mengenai penyebab terjadinya overheat pada main engine di kapal SPOB. Tirta Samudra XVIII. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pentingnya pelaksaan perawatan berkala pada mesin induk (main engine), Sistem pendingin mesin induk( main engine cooling system) seperti fresh water cooler dan sea water pump. Agar pendinginan pada mesin induk (main engine) berjalan secara maksimal dan main induk (main engine) beroperasi secara optimal.

Abstract

Marine pollution caused by ship waste discharge was one of the major environmental challenges in global maritime governance. The issue had significant ecological and socio-economic impacts, particularly in coastal regions. In Indonesia, the Harbormaster (Syahbandar) played a strategic role as the authority responsible for supervising ship operations, including waste management and discharge control. However, the effectiveness of Harbormaster supervision in preventing marine pollution had not been widely examined in academic research. This study aimed to systematically review and analyze the role and effectiveness of Harbormaster supervision in managing ship-generated waste as a preventive measure against marine pollution. The research applied a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, combined with bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer software. A total of 25 scientific publications from 2018 to 2025 were selected using inclusion and exclusion criteria from databases such as Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science. The analysis showed that the dominant research themes were related to MARPOL 73/78 implementation, Port Reception Facilities (PRFs), and port environmental supervision. The VOSviewer mapping revealed strong linkages among keywords such as MARPOL implementation, pollution prevention, port state control, and waste management, reflecting the growing importance of environmental governance in maritime operations. This study also highlighted the need for synergy between national regulations, institutional oversight, and digital monitoring technologies to ensure effective waste control at sea. The findings contributed conceptual and practical insights into how Harbormaster supervision could be optimized to strengthen maritime environmental governance. Enhancing the Harbormaster’s role was crucial not only for reducing ship-based pollution but also for supporting sustainable marine ecosystems and achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14: Life Below Water.
