Abstract

This study was motivated by the surge of newcomers and language schools in Kampung Inggris Pare during 2009–2010, which triggered social problems such as unhealthy competition among language schools and conflicts among newcomers leading to the establishment of the Language Village Forum (FKB) in 2011. The research questions for this study are: (1) What was the background behind the establishment of the FKB? (2) What role does the FKB play in managing language institutions? and (3) How has the FKB contributed to enhancing the potential of a learning society from 2011 to 2022? The methodology employed is the historical method, encompassing heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography, utilizing primary sources such as interviews, government regulations, and archives, as well as secondary sources. The research findings indicate that the FKB plays a crucial role in managing institutions in Kampung Inggris. Although coordination was less than optimal from 2011 to 2018, the 2018 trademark conflict served as a turning point in the organization’s awareness. From 2019 to 2022, the FKB successfully improved institutional management, established strategic partnerships, and helped Tulungrejo Village achieve a MURI (Indonesian World Records Museum) record. The FKB also succeeded in enhancing the potential of the learning society through community empowerment, synergy with the local government, and efforts to build a conducive learning environment.

Abstract

South Asian History courses often rely on dispersed, predominantly foreign-language resources that provide limited scaffolding for interpreting contested narratives and constructing evidence based historical arguments. This study developed and initially evaluated a discipline specific blended instructional package aligning synchronous guidance and asynchronous inquiry with six historical literacy indicators. Using ADDIE and an uncontrolled one-group pretest–posttest field evaluation, the study involved a convenience sample of 76 undergraduate students in three intact classes in the History Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Surabaya. The package was designed for 16 planned sessions; however, actual instructional dosage and implementation-fidelity indicators were not systematically documented. One subject-matter validator, one media validator, and one learning validator appraised different domains using non-equivalent instruments; their domain-specific ratings ranged from 85.20% to 88.00%, with a descriptive cross-domain mean of 86.93%. Student acceptability averaged 84.82%. Aggregate self-reported historical-literacy scores increased from 51.03 (SD=14.55) to 88.93 (SD=4.91), with a mean change of 37.91, 95% CI [34.53, 41.29], t(75)=22.34, sig < .005, and Cohen’s dz = 2.56. The group-level normalized gain was 0.77 (77.39%), which was descriptively classified as high. These findings indicate high acceptability responses and substantial short term within-group gains in self-reported historical literacy. However, these findings do not establish causal effectiveness or demonstrated historical literacy performance.

Abstract

Penguatan wawasan kebangsaan menjadi hal yang penting bagi generasi muda di tengah pesatnya perkembangan media digital. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman, sikap, dan kapasitas kepemimpinan siswa melalui kegiatan Penguatan Wawasan Kebangsaan dan Kepemimpinan Kaum Muda yang dilaksanakan oleh FISIPOL Unesa bekerja sama dengan SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Sidoarjo. Program ini menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif dan reflektif yang mengintegrasikan tiga perspektif, yaitu sosiologi-edukasional, experiential learning, dan literasi digital. Sebanyak 141 siswa kelas X dan XI terlibat dalam kegiatan ini. Evaluasi program dilakukan melalui analisis pre-test dan post-test serta refleksi naratif peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman siswa tentang wawasan kebangsaan dari yang semula bersifat normatif menjadi lebih reflektif dan kontekstual. Peserta juga menunjukkan sikap toleransi yang lebih kuat terhadap keberagaman, peningkatan kesadaran kritis dalam penggunaan media digital, serta pemahaman kepemimpinan yang lebih kolaboratif. Secara keseluruhan, program ini memperkuat komitmen kognitif, afektif, dan sosial siswa untuk menjadi agen perubahan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to enhance students' learning motivation in social studies learning through the implementation of Problem Based Learning model with Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach in class 7D of SMPN 2 Nglames, Madiun Regency, in the second semester of the academic year 2023/2024. The research adopts the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method involving 32 students as participants. The instruments utilized in this study are observation and questionnaires. One of the background of this study is the low motivation to learn grade 7D students due to the lack of variation in learning methods. The results of the implementation in cycles 1 and 2, a notable enhancement in students' learning motivation was observed. In cycle 1, out of 32 students, 12 students achieved results categorized as very high learning motivation (37.5%), while 20 students fell into the high learning motivation category (62.5%). In cycle 2, after data reflection, a considerable improvement was noted. Out of 32 students, 18 students (56.25%) were classified as having high learning motivation, and 14 students (43.75%) were in the very high learning motivation category. In conclusion, the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model with Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach has been found to enhance students' learning motivation. Keywords: Learning Motivation, PBL Model, TaRL Approach ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS melalui model pembelajaran problem based learning dengan Pendekatan Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) pada kelas 7D SMPN 2 Nglames Kabupaten Madiun pada semester genap tahun pelajaran 2023/2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan jumlah siswa 32 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah observasi dan angket. Bentuk analisis informasi yang digunakan yaitu analisis data kualitatif dan analisis data kuantitatif. Salah satu latar belakang dari penelitian ini ialah rendahnya motivasi belajar siswa kelas 7D karena kurangnya variasi dalam metode pembelajaran. Hasil pelaksanaan pembelajaran pada siklus 1 dan siklus 2, terlihat adanya peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa secara signifikan. Pada siklus 1, dari total 32 siswa, sebanyak dari 12 siswa memperoleh hasil dengan kategori motivasi belajar sangat tinggi (37,5%), sedangkan 20 siswa masuk dalam kategori motivasi belajar tinggi (62,5%). Sedangkan pada siklus 2, setelah dilakukan refleksi data, terjadi peningkatan yang cukup signifikan. Dari total 32 siswa 18 siswa (56,25%) termasuk dalam kategori motivasi belajar tinggi, 14 siswa (43,75%) dalam kategori motivasi belajar sangat tinggi. Penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model Problem Based Learning dengan Pendekatan Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) ini dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Abstract

This research is about "Utilization Puzzle Media to Improve Student Learning Outcomes at SMP Negeri 2 Nglames". This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of class VII C students at SMP Negeri 2 Nglames in social studies subjects who tended to pay less attention to studying social studies. So the aim of this research is to improve the learning outcomes of class VII C students. The method used in this research is classroom action research which was carried out in 2 learning cycles. The results of classroom action research in cycle 1 and cycle 2 showed an increase in student learning outcomes. The conclusion obtained from this research is that carrying out learning using puzzle media can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the Social Science subject, so that many students have not achieved the Learning Goal Achievement Criteria. This research aims to improve student learning outcomes in Social Sciences subjects by using Crossword Puzzle learning media. This research is classroom action research that goes through 2 cycles involving planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The research results show that the use of crossword puzzle learning media can improve student learning outcomes. These findings state that the use of crossword puzzle learning media is an effective alternative in learning Social Sciences subjects. Keywords: Crossword Puzzle, Learning Outcomes, Social Sciences
