Abstract

This study aims to analyse the validity and reliability of a critical thinking skills instrument on the topic of wave-particle dualism using the Rasch model. Data collection was carried out by administering a critical thinking skills test to students enrolled in a modern physics course. A total of 36 students from a university in West Nusa Tenggara participated. Data analysis was performed using the Rasch model through the Winsteps 4.6.1 software. The results indicated that the instrument is valid and reliable. The instrument's validity was tested by examining the data's fit to the Rasch model through infit and outfit MNSQ values and ZSTD, all of which were within the expected acceptance range. Construct validity was analysed through standardized residual variance, showing that the Rasch model can explain most of the variance in the data. Similarly, the instrument's reliability showed that the item reliability was in the very good category (0.93) and the person reliability was in the moderate category (0.68), with a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.86, indicating very good internal reliability. These findings confirm that the Rasch model is effective in assessing and improving the quality of critical thinking skills evaluation instruments in the context of modern physics education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kelayakan dan kepraktisan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) berbasis mind mapping yang dikembangkan untuk siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA). Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan (research and development). Model pengembangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model 4D, yang meliputi tahap define (pendefinisian), design (perancangan), develop (pengembangan), dan disseminate (penyebaran). Pengujian produk pengembangan LKPD berbasis mind mapping dilakukan melalui validasi dari ahli materi, ahli media, dan angket respon siswa. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar validasi ahli dan angket respon siswa. Teknik analisis data hasil penyebaran angket dilakukan dengan tabulasi data dari masing-masing validator, menghitung skor rata-rata, dan jumlah persentase skor. Berdasarkan hasil penilaian dari tiga orang ahli materi dan tiga orang ahli media menunjukkan bahwa kualitas LKPD termasuk dalam kategori sangat layak dengan persentase skor masing-masing 85% dan 84%. Selain itu, hasil penilaian dari respon siswa menunjukkan bahwa LKPD termasuk dalam kategori sangat praktis dengan persentase skor 82%. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa LKPD berbasis mind mapping yang dikembangkan tidak hanya layak secara materi dan media, tetapi juga praktis digunakan oleh siswa dalam proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

The purpose of this PKM is that teachers understand the concept of lesson study, are able to carry out lesson study and can implement lesson study in the process of learning activities, especially in physics subjects so as to improve students' critical thinking skills. This service activity starts from the preparation stage and the implementation stage. The partners in this PKM programme are physics teachers of SMAN 1 Sakra, the number of participants involved in this PKM activity is 9 people consisting of 2 Physics Education lecturers, 5 physics teachers of SMAN 1 Sakra and 2 students to help with documentation activities. The method used in this activity is Lesson study training and lesson study implementation assistance in the process of learning activities. The results achieved from this activity are (1) Increased teacher understanding of Lesson Study and (2) Increased teacher enthusiasm in improving lesson study-based learning. (3) Increased interest and confidence of teachers to become professional teachers (4) Increased critical thinking skills of students in physics subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model on students' understanding of physics concepts at MA Muallimat NWDI Pancor. The type of research used is truly experimental with a posttest only control design. The population of the study was all students of class XI MIPA at MA Muallimat NWDI Pancor. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. The selected samples were class XI MIPA 1 as the experimental class and XI MIPA 2 as the control class. The data collection technique used a concept understanding test. The posttest results show that the conceptual understanding of students in the experimental class using the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model is higher than that of the control class taught using the conventional learning model. Based on the results of the data analysis, the hypothesis test calculation using the right-hand t-test formula at a significance level of 5% gives tcount = 2.388 and ttable = 1.669. From these results, it can be seen that the tcount value > t_table (2.388 > 1.669), so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The effect size is 0.56, which is included in the medium category. This shows that the application of the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model is effective for students' understanding of physics concepts at MA Muallimat NWDI Pancor on the topic of optics.
