Abstract

Anak Down’s Syndrome/DS memiliki keterbelakangan mental dan sebagian besar memiliki kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang buruk. Keterbatasan dalam menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut sering dialami pada anak berkebutuhan khusus baik laki-laki maupun perempuan, oleh karena itu mereka sangat memerlukan dukungan sosial dari lingkungannya agar dapat mencapai kemampuan fungsional setinggi mungkin. Anak-anak tersebut membutuhkan perhatian khusus dalam menjaga kebersihan mulut.Tujuan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah  setelah mendapatkan penyuluhan dan demonstrasi  diharapkan semua penderita down syndrome yang ada di SLB swadaya ABC dan pendampingnya dapat  memahami dan menerapkan cara menyikat gigi yang baik dan benar sehingga dapat menjaga Kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak penderita down syndrome. Target kegiatan penyuluhan dan demonstrasi adalah semua anak penderita down syndrome yang bersekolah di SLB Swadaya ABC Kendal dan pendampingnya. Luaran yang di harapkan  dari kegiatan penyuluhan dan demonstrasi ini adalah adanya peningkatan kebersihan gigi dan mulut anak penderita down syndrome yang bersekolah di SLB Swadaya ABC Kendal. Dari hasil pelaksanaan didapatkan bahwa lebih dari 50% anak penderita down syndrome keadaan gigi dan mulutnya buruk. Kesimpulan: Kesehatan gigi dan mulut penderita DS termasuk dalam kategori sedang.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Anak berkebutuhan khusus memiliki keterbelakangan mental dan kekurangan secara fisik, dan sebagian besar memiliki kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang buruk. Beberapa yang termasuk katagori ABK adalah tunagrahita dan tuna rungu. Keterbatasan dalam menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut sering dialami pada anak berkebutuhan khusus baik laki-laki maupun perempuan, oleh karena itu mereka sangat memerlukan dukungan sosial dari lingkungannya agar dapat mencapai kemampuan fungsional setinggi mungkin. Tujuan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah  setelah mendapatkan pemeriksaan, penyuluhan dan demonstrasi  diharapkan semua penderita tuna grahita dan tuna rungu  yang ada di SLB swadaya ABC dan pendampingnya dapat  memahami dan menerapkan cara menyikat gigi yang baik dan benar sehingga dapat menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak penderita tuna grahita dan tuna rungu. Metode kegiatan penyuluhan, demonstrasi dan pemeriksaan gigi dan mulut terhadap semua anak penderita tuna grahita dan tuna rungu yang bersekolah di SLB Swadaya ABC Kendal dan pendampingnya. Luaran yang di harapkan  dari kegiatan penyuluhan dan demonstrasi ini adalah adanya peningkatan kesehatan gigi dan mulut anak penderita tuna grahita dan tuna rungu yang bersekolah di SLB Swadaya ABC Kendal. Hasil pelaksanaan didapatkan bahwa lebih dari 50% anak penderita tuna grahita dan tuna rungu keadaan gigi dan mulutnya buruk. Kesehatan gigi dan mulut penderita tuna grahita dan tuna rungu termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Kata kunci: tuna grahita,tuna rungu, SLB, Penyuluhan, Kesehatan gigi dan mulut.  ABSTRACT Children with special needs have mental retardation and most of them have poor oral and dental health. Some special needs are mentally disabled and deaf. Limitations in maintaining dental and oral health are often experienced by children with special needs, both boys and girls, therefore they really need social support from their environment in order to achieve the highest possible functional ability. These children need special attention in maintaining oral hygiene. The purpose of this community service is that after receiving counseling and demonstrations, it is hoped that all mentally disabled and deaf sufferers in the ABC self-help SLB and their companions can understand and apply good and correct brushing techniques so that they can maintain good oral hygiene. Dental and oral health of children with mentally disabled and deaf. The target of counseling and demonstration activities are all children with mentally disabled and deaf who attend SLB Swadaya ABC Kendal and their companions. The expected outcome of this counseling and demonstration activity is an increase in the oral hygiene of children with the mentally disabled and deaf who attend SLB Swadaya ABC Kendal. From the results of the implementation, it was found that more than 50% of children with mentally disabled and deaf had bad teeth and mouth conditions. Conclusion: Dental and oral health of people with mentally disable and deaf is in the moderate category. Keywords: Mentally disable, deaf, SLB, Counseling, Dental and oral health.

Abstract

The leaves of Altingia excelsa were found to strongly inhibit SP-C1 human tongue cancer cell lines. This study was focused on identifying the antiproliferative compound found in A. excelsa leaves and assessing its mechanism of action. The active compound was isolated using column chromatography and identified by the spectroscopic method and was also tested for its anti-proliferative properties and the cell cycle analysis in SP-C1 cells by flowcytometry analysis. This work resulted in the isolation of a flavonoid, which was identified to be kaempferol and quercetin. The compounds inhibited SP-C1 cell proliferation in a time- and dose-dependent manner with IC50 values of 0.72 µg/mL and 0. 70 µg/mL for the 24 hours treatments, respectively. Furthermore, the flowcytometry analysis suggested that the compounds exerted its anticancer activities by inhibiting cell cycle. These results suggested that compounds found in A. excelsa providies a basis for its potential use in cancer disease management.

Abstract

Plak adalah pembentukan komunitas bakteri yang terorganisir pada permukaan gigi yang berupa lapisan tipis tidak berwarna. Pseudomonas aeruginosa adalah salah satu bakteri yang sangat berperan pada pembentukan plak. Metabolit sekunder yang terkandung dalam tanaman Kalanchoe tomentosa dapat digunakan sebagai antibakteri. Tahapan penelitian diawali dengan maserasi menggunakan pelarut n-heksan dan diklorometana. Ekstrak diklorometana dipisahkan menggunakan Kromatografi Cair Vakum (KCV) dengan n-heksana dan etil asetat sebagai pelarut bergradien selanjutnya direkristalisasi dengan n-heksan, hasil rekristalisasi didapatkan isolat 1. Isolat 1 dikarakterisasi dengan spektroskopi infra-red (IR), ultraviolet (UV) dan nuclear magnetic resonance hydrogen (1H NMR) serta dibandingkan dengan literatur. Isolat 1 diketahui merupakan stigmast-5-en-3ꞵ-ol atau ꞵ-sitosterol. Pada ekstrak diklorometana dan senyawa ꞵ-sitosterol kemudian ditentukan aktivitas antibakteri secara mikrodilusi didapatkan hasil bahwa ekstrak diklorometana dan senyawa ꞵ-sitosterol bukan hanya menunjukan sifat bakteriostatik tetapi juga bakterisid kuat terhadap bakteri Pseudomonas aeruginosadengan nilai Konsentrasi Hambat Minimum (KHM) <100 µg/mL.Steroid Compounds from Cocor Bebek (Kalanchoe tomentosa) as Antibacterial Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Plaque is a thin, colorless layer that adheres tightly to the surface of the teeth and contains a collection of bacteria. One of the bacteria that can form dental plaque is Porphyromonas aeruginosa. Kalanchoe tomentosa contain secondary metabolite which can be used as antibacterial. Stages of the study begin with maceration using n-hexane and dichloromethane. Dichloromethane extract was separated using Vacuum Liquid Chromatography (KCV) using n-hexane and ethyl acetate solvents and then recrystallized with n-hexane, the recrystallization results were obtained by isolate 1. Isolate 1 was marked by IR spectroscopy, and 1HNMR and compared with literature. Isolate 1 is known as stigmast-5-en-3ꞵ-ol or ꞵ-sitosterol. In dichloromethane extracts and ꞵ-sitosterol is determined by microdilution by microdilution. The results showed that dichloromethane extract and ꞵ-sitosterol compound not only showed strong bacteriostatic but also bacterisid activity against P. aeruginosa with Minimum Inhibiroty Concentration (MIC) <100 μg / mL.

Abstract

Introduction : Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair (LSTR-3MIX) are new paradigm in caries care with or without involving pulp and periapical by using combination of three antibiotics. Bacteria that cause endodontic or root canal infection are dominated by Enterococcus faecalis, which is facultative anaerobic gram-positive bacteria and the bacteria are resistant against antimicrobial substance and often found in failed endodontic treatment. LSTR method is an effort that disinfects pulp lesions by killing the bacteria through using three antibiotics, which are metronidazole, ciprofloxacin, and minocyline. The use of several kinds of antibiotics can trigger the resistance of bacteria. However, it is needed an alternative of new antibiotic finding by using natural antibacterial herbal medicine as filler substance for endodontic that has antibacterial ability as balanced as 3MIX antibiotic pasta. Purpose : This research aimed at knowing the difference of antibacterial effect between rasamala leaf extract against E. faecalis bacteria that was compared with 3MIX antibiotic pasta. Method : The method used in this research was laboratory experiment by utilizing post test only control group design. This research was consisted of 6 treatment groups of rasamala leaf extract with concentration of 20%, 10%, 5%, 2,5%, 1,25%, and 1 control group of 3MIX antibiotic pasta. Result : 3MIX antibiotic was more effective in inhibiting the growth of bacteria rather than rasamala leaf extract in inhibiting the growth of Enterococcus faecalis. Conclusion : ethyl acetate from rasamala leaf extract was not more effective than 3MIX antibiotic in inhibiting the growth of Enterococcus faecalis.

Abstract

Sesquiterpenoids are derivatives of terpenoid compound that have a diverse skeleton and broad spectrum of biological activities, particularly anticancer activity. This research reported the isolation and elucidation structure of sesquiterpenoid from Chisocheton lasiocarpus stem bark, as well as their cytotoxic activity. Four sesquiterpenoid compounds, namely eudesm-4(15)-ene-1β,6β-diol (1), allo-aromadendrane-10α,14-diol (2), allo-aromadendrane-10β,14-diol (3) and guaianediol (4), were isolated for the first time from Chisocheton lasiocarpus stem bark. The chemical structure of all compounds was identified by spectroscopic analysis, including IR, MS, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and DEPT, and compared with previous reported spectral data. The cytotoxic activity of the isolated compounds against MCF-7 breast cancer line were examined by using the resazurin method. The results showed compound 1 shown the highest cytotoxic activity with IC50 108.08 ± 0.58 µM.

Abstract

Steroid saponin baru, b-sitosterol-3-O-beta-D-galaktopiranosil-(1-4)-beta-D-glukopiranosida (1), bersama dengan empat steroid yang diketahui (2-5) diisolasi dari kulit batang dari Aglaia glabrata. Struktur kimia senyawa baru dijelaskan berdasarkan data-data spektroskopi. Semua senyawa diuji aktivitas sitotoksiknya terhadap sel kanker leukemia murine P-388. Diantara senyawa yang diisolasi tersebut, stigmasterol (4) menunjukkan aktivitas sitotoksik terkuat dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 12.2 mg/mL.

Abstract

Frenectomy is a surgical procedure to remove or eliminate the frenulum, either the labial, buccal, or lingual frenulum. An abnormality of the thickened and tight lingual frenulum of the tongue that results in limitation of tongue movement is called ankyloglossia. This limitation can causes speech problems. A 25-year-old woman with tongue problems, immobility and difficulty in pronouncing certain letters. The tongue cannot cross the vermilion lip line. The choice of surgical treatment is frenectomy under local anesthesia using the dual hemostat method. Frenectomy as a treatment option for ankyloglossia gave good results without complications and was continued with speech therapy rehabilitation.

Abstract

Four triterpenoids, known as dammarane-type, dammaradienone (1), 20(S),25-epoxy-5α-dammar-20-en-3-one (2), 20(S)-5α-dammar-24-en-3α,20-diol-3-acetate (3) and 3α-acetyl-20S,24S-epoxy-25-hydroxydammarane (4), were isolated from Aglaia cucullata peel fruit. The structures of isolated compounds were identified based on their HR-TOFMS data and extensive NMR spectroscopic analysis, as well as compared with literature data. Compounds 1-4 were assessed for cytotoxic effects against HeLa cervical and B16-F10 melanoma skin cancer cells. All compounds showed moderate to weak activity against B16-F10 cancer cells, while compound 2 exhibited the strongest activity against HeLa cancer cells with IC50 of 7.10 µg/mL indicating that the existence of an epoxy moiety at the side chain increases the cytotoxicity to HeLa cells.

Abstract

Sesquiterpenoids are terpenoid derivative compounds that have a diverse chemical structure and pharmacological effects. Sesquiterpenoids can be found in many plants of Aglaia which is the large source of natural compounds in the Meliaceae family. This research was aimed to elucidate the structure of sesquiterpenoids from the peel fruit of Aglaia cucullata and their cytotoxic activities against two human cancer cell lines. The n-hexane extract was separated and further purified by various chromatographic methods to yiled three sesquiterpenoids. The structure of these sesquiterpenoids were identified by spectroscopy analysis including MS, IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and DEPT as well as compared with spectral data which reported previously. The sesquiterpenoid compounds 1-3 were identified as spathulenol (1), alismol (2), and 10-oxo-isodauc-3-en-15-al (3). The cytotoxic activity of three sesquiterpenoid compounds were tested against HeLa cervical cancer cell and B16-F10 skin cancer cell using the PrestoBlue method. Compound 2 exhibited the highest activity against both HeLa and B16-F10 cancer cell lines with IC50 48.11 μg/mL and 57.05 μg/mL, respectively.
