Abstract

Bamboo plays a vital role in preventing soil erosion and conserving water. In East Nusa Tenggara Province, many communities rely on bamboo species, making its cultivation a priority due to the region’s favorable biophysical conditions and available support from Non-Governmental Orgabization as facilitators. Approximately 387 villages have undergone assessment and socialization processes aimed at developing bamboo villages, including the Reok sub-district. One of the next steps in this process is conducting an inventory of bamboo standing stock in the area.This study aims to assess the species diversity and standing stock of bamboo in Reok sub-district. Research was carried out at 11 randomly selected sampling points across six villages, using the single circular plot method (radius of 17.9 m), with a total of 55 plots. Each plot was surveyed to identify and quantify clumps and culms, categorized by age (young, medium, and old). Four bamboo species were identified: Bambusa spinosa, Bambusa vulgaris, Gigantochloa atter, and Dendrocalamus asper. Gigantochloa atter was the most prevalent species, found at nearly all survey points, and had the highest number of clumps and culms. The estimated standing stock of bamboo in the Reok sub-district is 57,496 clumps, with a total of 3,692,890 culms. Gigantochloa atter accounted for the majority, with 35,526 clumps and 1,815,593 culms. This standing stock holds significant potential for further development, as bamboo is a key non-timber forest product (NTFP) in the region, with the potential to enhance the local economy.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mendorong kreativitas berwirausaha bagi pemuda Gereja Ebenhaezer Matani dengan menggunakan metode pendekatan yang digunakan dalam upaya pemecahan masalah utama yang dihadapi oleh Komunitas Pemuda Gereja Ebenhaezer Matani adalah transfer informasi berupa penyuluhan dan pelatihan pembuatan ecoprint untuk mendorong kreativitas berwirausaha. Kegiatan penyuluhan dengan metode ceramah dilakukan kepada masyarakat yang terlibat dalam proses pembuatan ecoprint. Hasil yang didapat dari Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini merupakan salah satu upaya untuk menumbuhkan minat pemuda-pemudi gereja untuk berwirausaha. Dilatarbelakangi kondisi saat ini mencari pekerjaan sangat sulit, sehingga berwirausaha bisa menjadi pilihan. Kreativitas untuk berwirausaha menjadi hal yang sangat penting, untuk memunculkan ide-ide dan inovasi dalam pembuatan produk wirausaha. Pemuda Gereja Ebenhaezer Matani sangat antusias dengan kegiatan pengabdian Masyarakat ini. Kegiatan ini dapat menumbuhkan jiwa kewirausahaan pemuda, dan dapat meningkatkan kreativitas serta dapat menjadi penggerak ekonomi kreatif. Pelatihan pembuatan ecoprint dari bahan alami juga sebagai ide bagi pemuda untuk berwirausaha sehingga dapat mengurangi tingkat penggangguran dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat.

Abstract

Wildlife conservation is fundamental to mitigating the extinction due to wildlife trade. Thus, various conservation policies have been used as a reference: IUCN, CITES, and Government Policy P.106 of 2018. This research aims to record Facebook-based wildlife trade, identify the traded wildlife conservation status, and estimate the selling price. Data was taken since the group was formed until 1 July 2023. The results reveal that 107 species belonging to 53 families were recorded in 31 trading groups, comprising 82 species of aves, 17 species of herpetofauna, and eight species of mammals. Among those traded wildlife, based on P.106, 80 species are unprotected, while 27 are protected. Based on the IUCN, most traded wildlife is categorized as LC with 77 species. Some species are categorized as CR with four species, EN with 9, VU with 8, NT with 8, and NE with one species. Referring to CITES, 73 species classified as non-appendices dominate the trading groups, followed by 24 species of Appendix II, 9 of Appendix I, and 1 of Appendix III. The estimated selling price of all traded wildlife is approximately IDR 317,125,000. Governments and other conservation bodies must pay more attention to the growing Facebook-based wildlife trade, especially for protected and endangered species.

Abstract

Urban area development is the main goal in supporting the community economy. However, urban development often harms the environment. Human resources increasing, if not balanced with environmental awareness, will potentially cause problems in the future. Increasing ecological awareness needs to be done from an early age so that the benefits and impacts of human activities on the environment can be understood. This service activity aims to improve environmental awareness and provide knowledge about ecological love and the benefits of the environment. This service activity was carried out in two stages: delivering material using the environmental game and the evaluation stage. SD Inpres Naikoten I students received the program well, as seen from their activeness and enthusiasm when delivering the material. Students are also active in discussions and provide opinions at the evaluation stage. The teachers accompanied the students during the program's implementation and felt helped by the game media, which could be used sustainably

Abstract

Jumlah penduduk Desa Noelbaki yang meningkatkan menyebabkan penambahan kawasan pemukiman sampai di kawasan pesisir. Keberadaan hutan mangrove di desa Noelbaki seluas 8 ha dan terus mengalami penurunan. Hal ini disebabkan oleh tingkat pemahaman masyarakat desa sekitar yang belum memahami akan betapa pentingnya manfaat hutan mangrove. Kehidupan masyarakat yang sebagian besar hidup sebagai petani dan nelayan dengan tingkat ekonomi yang rendah juga sangat mendorong masyarakat untuk melakukan eksplotasi terhadap hutan mangrove. Faktor manusia merupakan faktor dominan penyebab kerusakan hutan mangrove dalam pemanfaatan lahan yang berlebihan. Faktor alam, seperti banjir, kekeringan dan hama penyakit yang merupakan faktor penyebab dan relatif kecil. Metode pendekatan yang digunakan dalam upaya pemecahan masalah utama yang dihadapi petani di desa Noelbaki adalah transfer informasi berupa penyuluhan, pelatihan dan demonstrasi plot (penanaman anakan mangrove). Kegiatan penyuluhan dengan metode ceramah terhadap masyarakat tentang fungsi dan peranan mangrove dalam penyerapan karbon, fungsi dan manfaat mangrove dari aspek konservasi dan teknik budidaya mangrove serta kegiatan penanaman anakan mangrove sebagai kegiatan praktek lapang. Sosialisasi disampaikan oleh narasumber yang terdiri atas materi yaitu peran dan fungsi mangrove dari aspek konservasi, fungsi dan peranan mangrove dalam penyerapan karbon dan fungsi rehabilitasi hutan mangrove dikawasan pesisir. Puncak dari kegiatan ini adalah kegiatan penanaman anakan mangrove. Dengan kegiatan ini masyarakat pesisir semakin mengetahui betapa besar fungsi dari hutan mangrove dan mendukung untuk merehabiliasi kembali hutan mangrove yang sudah hampir punah.

Abstract

monkeys (Macaca fascicularis). This research was conducted at Menipo Natural Tourism Park (NTP), Enoraen Village, East Amarasi Subdistrict, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara which was conducted for 1 month, from September to October 2021. The study used Zoatrack's WebGIS method, which determined Macaca’s home range using Minimum Concex Polygon (MCP) method and core area using Kernel Utilization Distribution. Moreover, the analysis of data were conducted with statistics descriptive analysis. The results showed that the home range that has been analyzed using Minimum Convex Polygon (MCP) is 142.45 ha and this area of long-tailed monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) home range lies in almost all of the Menipo NTP area with its forest characteristics that consists of dry forests, brackish forests, and coastal forests. The results of the core area analysis using Kernel Utilization Distribution showed that the area of the core area was 53.63 Ha. The results of the core area also shows that there is one particular of core area that is often visited by long-tailed monkeys (Macaca fascicularis). This is due to the abundance of food and trees as their resting place in the Menipo NTP area.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the Habitat Characteristics of the Flores Hawk Eagle (Nisaetus Floris) in the Otoseso Indigenous Forest Area, Wolojita Sub-District, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. This research was conducted from March to April 2021. The analysis of the habitat of the Flores Hawk Eagle (Nisaetus floris) used a vegetation analysis approach, the level of habitat use and observations of nesting characteristics. The behavior of the Flores Hawk Eagle (Nisaetus floris) was observed directly at the observation spot to describe its daily activities. The results showed that the trees used for nesting sites were the Jita (Alstonia scholaris), Fai (Paraserianthes falcataria) and Kemiri (Aleurites mollucana) tree species, which are sticking trees in their habitat. The Flores Hawk Eagle (Nisaetus floris) used canopy space A (I and II) to build nests, while for perching trees that have been identified are the banyan (Ficus benjamina), weru (Elaecarpus sphaericus), kapok (Ceiba pentandra), lamtoro gung (Leucaena leucocephala SubSp. glabrata) and Nimbah (Melia Azidarach). Flores Hawk Eagle (Nisaetus floris) uses crown spaces A and B (I and II) for perching behavior and stalking prey. In this section of the canopy the Flores Hawk Eagle (Nisaetus floris) usually perched on a flat tree trunk perpendicular to the main branch and is of medium size. The daily activity of the Flores Hawk Eagle (Nisaetus floris) which has the highest presentation is perching at 41%, flying (soaring and gliding) by 28%, voice by 22% and hunting by 22%.

Abstract

Ruteng Natural Tourism Park (TWA) is rich in natural resources with regional potential in the form of stunning panoramas, and a variety of local cultural wisdom that has the potential as a location for developing tourist destinations. However, the tourism potential of RKW III TWA Ruteng has not been managed properly due to the lack of promotional/marketing activities, then the unavailability of tour packages that are packaged attractively and globally, resulting in low visits, both local and foreign tourists. The aim is to determine the potential and assessment of tourist attractions from each of the existing criteria and to formulate an ecotourism development strategy. The tourism potential assessment uses the 2003 ADO-ODTWA guidelines from the Director General of PHKA and the development strategy uses a SWOT analysis looking at strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The results show that the potential offered is the beauty of the panoramic attraction of Lake Ranamese, waterfalls of Lake Ranamese, and various types of beautiful flora and fauna. The results of the calculation of the feasibility of the RKW III TWA Ruteng tourist location based on the assessment criteria, namely attractiveness 81.1%, accessibility 98.3%, accommodation 75%, and facilities and infrastructure 100%. The total number of assessments from these 4 criteria is 89.85%, so it can be concluded that RKW III TWA Ruteng is worthy of being developed as a tourist location. Strategies that need to be carried out are promoting attractively packaged tour packages for students, researchers, family tours, repairing and adding damaged facilities and infrastructure, adding types of tourism activities, providing space for local community involvement in the development of ecotourism activities and designing collaborations with surrounding tourist sites.

Abstract

Urban forest is also called a collection of trees that grow in the city in a predetermined area. Determination of the location of urban forests must be evidencebased (evidence based)through surveys and land suitability evaluations. Urban Forests in this study were taken in two different places in the Malacca Regency area. The two areas are Betun (Wehali Village) Central Malaka District and Raihanek (Rainawe Village) Malaka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The study was carried out for one month, October 2020. This study used a survey method and purposive sampling of sample points with data analysis using QGIS software. The results of the mapping in spatial analysis with the technique of overlapping (Ovelay). descriptive qualitative analysis. Based on the results of the research conducted, it was found that the land suitability class of Wehali Village, Central Malaka District has four land suitability classes, namely S1 (verysuitable), S2 (fairly suitable), S3 (marginally suitable), and N (not suitable) with the area of each.respectively 0.05 Ha, 217.87 Ha, 363, 25 Ha, and 1 2.91 Ha, while Rainawe Village, Kobalima District has three land suitability classes, namely S1 (very suitable), S2 (fairly suitable),andS3 (marginally suitable). ), with an area of 41.99 Ha, 476.90 Ha and 160.35 Ha. Based on these results, several types of plants are recommended, such as Walnuts (Canarium sp), Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla King), Trambesi (Albizia saman (Jacq.) Merr.), Fir (Casuarinaequisetifolia),and sea pandanus, sand pandanus or pudak thorn pandanus (Pandanus odorifer).

Abstract

This research has been carried out in the Bu'at So'e Research Forest, South Mollo District, South Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province in September-October 2021. This study aims to determine the diversity of medicinal plant species, the percentage of parts used by the community. local communities, how to process medicinal plants used by local communities and to know the conservation status of medicinal plants found. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The data in this study were collected through vegetation analysis techniques, direct observation in the field to find types of medicinal plants and documentation, interviews using the snowball sampling method in order to obtain informants and obtain appropriate and accurate data. The results of the study found 29 types of medicinal plants that grow and spread in the Bu'at So'e Research Forest area. The diversity of medicinal plants in the Bu'at So'e Research Forest was classified as moderate (H’= 2,133). The people of the Bu'at So'e Research Forest area have knowledge about the use and processing of plants as medicine. There are 38 types of medicinal plants from 22 families used by the community. The plant parts used were leaves (49%), bark (21%), fruit (12%), seeds (12%) and roots (6%). The processing of plants as medicine is carried out by local people in 19 ways, namely chewed, sprayed, swallowed, attached, scratched, boiled, mixed, burned, eaten, smeared, drunk. bathed, squeezed, dripped, soaked, baked, mashed, ground and rubbed. The conservation status for the plants found were Not Evaluated (NE), Low Risk Least Concern (LC), Endangered (EN) and Vulnerable Vulnerable (VU).
