Abstract

The demand of ICT-based learning required teachers to adapt 21st century teaching skills. These skills are encompassed in Digital Teaching Competence (DTC) developed from DogCompEdu Framework. The aim of this paper is to measure the DTC of science teachers in Keerom Regency of Papua. This research is developed through a 22-items and completed by 23 science teachers, with quantitative study with a descriptive approach. There are six dimensions measured in this study (professional engagement, digital resources, teaching and learning, assessment, empowering learners, and facilitating learner’s digital competence. The main results of the study show the level of DTC stood at medium to high category. Teachers who are still relatively young have a higher average questionnaire score than the older teacher age group. For the female teachers, the scores are slightly higher than male teachers. Teaching experience did not determine the level of DTC, but instead the competence measured relevant to years of experience using ICT-based learning class.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the implementation of a Scientific Approach based on digital media to improve learning motivation and digital content creation skills among prospective biology educators at Cenderawasih University. The research used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest model. A purposive sampling technique was used, involving 22 students of the Biology Education Study Program. The study was grounded in the challenges of 21st-century education, which requires future teachers to master both pedagogical skills and digital literacy to deliver content creatively, contextually, and effectively. The Scientific Approach was applied through stages integrated with digital media tools such as Canva, CapCut, and video editors. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students' learning motivation, supported by the Paired Sample t-Test and an N-Gain score of 0.56, indicating a moderate category. Students showed increases in value, expectancy, and affective components of motivation due to the interactive and engaging learning experience. Additionally, their ability to create digital content improved, with an average rubric score of 85.60, categorized as good. These results suggest that a Scientific Approach enriched with digital media can serve as an effective learning strategy to enhance both motivation and digital competence among future biology teachers. The model is recommended for broader adoption in teacher education institutions in response to the Merdeka Belajar initiative and the demands of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

Abstract

Diperlukan pelatihan lanjutan serta penguatan infrastruktur digital guna memastikan keberlanjutan penggunaan LMS Kata kunci: learning management system; pelatihan digital; literasi digital; pembelajaran daring Abstract The development of technology requires students to acquire skills in utilizing online learning system to support the effectiveness of academic processes. However, many students are still unfamiliar with the use of digital learning systems, particularly Learning Management System (LMS), which facilitate virtual classroom management, material distribution, and academic interaction. This community service activity aims to enhance the understanding and skills of students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Cenderawasih, in effectively operating LMS. This training program was attended by 100 students who previously had limited knowledge of LMS usage. The methods employed included training, tutorials, mentoring, and hands-on practice, structured into three main stages: LMS introduction, implementation in learning, and evaluation with reflection. The evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in students understanding, with the excellent category increasing from 5% to 45% and more than 90% of participants expressing satisfaction with the training content and delivery. This program has had a positive impact on preparing students for the digital era in education. Further training and the strengthening of digital infrastructure are necessary to ensure the sustainability of LMS as an integral part of modern teaching strategies. Keywords: learning management system; digital training; digital literacy; online learning

Abstract

Abstract In the digital era, the use of technology in education is a necessity to improve the quality of learning. However, the challenges faced by teachers, especially in the MGMP IPA Keerom Regency, are limited understanding and skills in using digital technology, including Google Sites as an interactive learning medium. This includes limited internet access, supporting devices, and a lack of training and technical guidance. The Google Sites training aimed to develop teacher competency in designing digital-based interactive learning media. This one-day activity involved 15 MGMP IPA teachers in Keerom Regency. The training results showed a significant increase in several aspects of teacher competency. Understanding of Google Sites increased from 25% before the training to 85% after the training. Meanwhile, the ability to create learning pages and content increased from 20% to 80%. These results indicate that short, practice-based training can effectively improve teacher skills, despite limited time and facilities. Thus, the use of Google Sites can be a strategic alternative to support interactive learning in schools, as well as open opportunities for teachers to develop digital learning innovations. Keywords: google sites; interactive learning; MGMP IPA
