Abstract

Abstract

This community service project aims to empower the local community of Tenganan Dauh Tukad by enhancing their capacity to promote cultural tourism through digital platforms. Framed around the theme of Tenganan as The Living Culture Destination, the project was implemented in three phases: documentation, content development, and community training. In the first phase, local youth were involved in capturing high-quality photo and video content during the traditional Perang Pisang event. In the second phase, the materials were edited into Instagram-optimized formats using a custom visual identity that reflects the village’s values—Asli (Authentic), Sakral (Sacred), Teguh Tradisi (Tradition-bound), Edukatif (Educational), and Elegan (Elegant). The third phase focused on training participants in managing Instagram, creating content calendars, and applying preset filters through the Lightroom mobile app. The outcome includes the rebranding of the village’s Instagram account to @tengananexperience and the development of a content strategy based on the pillars: Be Promotional, Be Human, and Be Entertaining. This initiative not only improved the digital skills of the community but also strengthened their cultural pride and established a sustainable model for cultural tourism promotion. Keywords: community service, digital empowerment, cultural tourism, Instagram branding, Tenganan Dauh Tukad, sustainable tourism.

Abstract

With post-pandemic conditions becoming more conducive, tourism activities are also gradually returning to a normal position. Experience during the pandemic has changed the mindset of tourists towards tourist destinations, where in the next normal period, tourists are predicted to prefer destinations for "healing" that are nature-based and also support a healthier life. Karya Sari Village in Tabanan Regency has the potential to support this tourism trend by implementing the ecotourism concept in its development. The purpose of this study is to develop a tourism product development strategy based on the concept of ecotourism in Karya Sari Village. Research design used in this study is a qualitative approach, where data is collected through purposive sampling, by conducting in-depth interviews with local tourism management (pokdarwis) and village officials. The results of the study show that Karya Sari Village has superior tourism products, which are feasible to be packaged with the concept of ecotourism. Interestingly, even though the village does not have a legal status of a Tourism Village, with good opportunities Karya Sari Village is currently in quadrant I based on IFAS EFAS analysis, so that managers can implement aggressive strategies in developing ecotourism products. local tourism management (pokdarwis) is recommended to increase village promotion and brand awareness as well as conducting more research to examine the concept of sister village development.

Abstract

This research identifies the development of community-based tourism in Saba Village, Gianyar Regency, with a focus on the economic, social, cultural, environmental, and political dimensions. A qualitative method was employed, involving in-depth interviews and analysis using the IFE, EFE, and Grand Strategy matrices. The results indicate high community participation in tourism activities, with local culture remaining intact without significant acculturation. Environmental management is well-implemented, although the concept of carrying capacity is not fully applied. Community participation in decision-making is quite strong, although collaboration with the private sector is still limited. Based on the grand strategy analysis, Saba Village adopts a Strength-Opportunity (SO) strategy to develop tourism based on local culture, build external partnerships, and optimize technology and community involvement, thus supporting the village's vision of becoming a peaceful, cultural, and prosperous tourist destination.
