Abstract

Test anxiety can have a negative impact on concentration, self-confidence, academic performance, and students' psychological well-being. Various studies show that social support acts as a protective factor that can reduce academic anxiety, but these findings are still scattered and have not been systematically integrated. This study provides a conceptual contribution by synthesizing the psychosocial mechanisms of social support within the framework of student academic anxiety. This research aims to analyze the role of social support on student anxiety in facing exams through a literature review approach. The method used is qualitative research with a literature study design, through searching for scientific articles, reference books, and peer-reviewed research publications published between 2017 and 2024. Data were collected from several academic databases and analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify themes, patterns, and research gaps. The results of the study show that students' anxiety about facing exams is in the moderate to high category and is consistently negatively correlated with the level of social support received. Social support from family, peers, and teachers has been proven to help students regulate their emotions, increase their sense of security, and strengthen adaptive coping strategies. It can be concluded that social support plays a strategic role as a psychological protective factor in reducing students' anxiety about exams and needs to be systematically integrated into educational practices and counseling services in schools.ABSTRAKKecemasan ujian dapat berdampak negatif terhadap konsentrasi, kepercayaan diri, performa akademik, serta kesejahteraan psikologis siswa.

Abstract

Parental supervision is a key determinant influencing adolescent behavior, particularly in preventing delinquency within the school environment. This study aims to analyze the relationship between parental monitoring and students’ delinquent tendencies while explaining the mechanisms through which parental roles shape adolescents’ social–emotional development. This research employs a qualitative method using a literature study approach based on accredited journal sources to obtain comprehensive theoretical and empirical insights. The findings indicate that parental supervision significantly contributes to developing students’ discipline, self-control, and emotional stability through behavioral monitoring, supportive communication, and consistent rule-setting. Furthermore, collaboration between parents and schools strengthens the prevention of deviant behavior and fosters a supportive learning environment conducive to healthy adolescent development.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the strategic role of school counselors (BK) in guiding students to face peer pressure at SMA Negeri 4 Kupang. Peer pressure is a significant social challenge in adolescent development, especially in a school environment that is socially and culturally heterogeneous. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, allowing for an in-depth exploration of the experiences and strategies of school counselors in the social context of the school. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, with participants consisting of three school counselors, five students, and two class teachers, selected using purposive and snowball sampling techniques. The findings reveal three main themes: (1) school counselors as facilitators in strengthening students' social character, (2) school counselors as mediators in peer conflicts, and (3) school counselors as reflective companions in students' moral decision-making. These three roles highlight the contribution of school counselors not only in preventing negative behaviors but also in fostering social awareness, empathy, and critical thinking skills in students in response to social pressures in their environment. Theoretically, this research reinforces the concept of a humanistic approach in guidance and counseling, while practically offering implications for improving the competence of school counselors in managing students' social dynamics. The findings also encourage educational policies to strengthen the role of counseling services in building an inclusive and supportive school culture. Future research is recommended to explore the influence of cultural factors and the school’s social structure on the effectiveness of the school counselor's role in various local contexts in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM Mandiri) program is a mandatory activity for every student of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Widya Mandira Catholic University, Kupang, to acquire new knowledge and gain practical experience from the field activities. The MBKM activities outside the classroom involve community service. The community service is carried out through land utilization for chili planting at SMA Negeri 4 Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province. This activity aims to promote the green school movement and foster an entrepreneurial spirit among students to support school operational financing. This community service uses a participatory method, where this method involves direct collaboration between the KKN participants and the school community. The results of this study show that the social service activity provides significant benefits to the school, as it can be used as a contextual learning tool based on project-based learning. Additionally, students not only gain knowledge about the farming process but also have the opportunity to develop it into a school entrepreneurship activity that can support the school’s operational financing.
