Abstract

Abstract

Lecturer performance is strongly influenced by higher education financing, including salaries, allowances, professional training, and research support, which together affect motivation, productivity, and the implementation of the university’s tridharma: teaching, research, and community service. Yet prior studies have not fully examined how implementing higher education financing standards affects lecturer performance in private Islamic higher education institutions, particularly through a mixed-methods, multisite approach. This study analyzes the effect of higher education financing standards on lecturer performance in this context. Using a mixed-methods explanatory sequential design, quantitative data were collected from 95 lecturers via structured questionnaires and analyzed with Smart PLS 4.1 to assess structural relationships. Qualitative data were then gathered through in-depth interviews, document reviews, and observations, and analyzed using a three-stage multisite analysis to contextualize the quantitative findings. Results show that higher education financing significantly and positively influences lecturer performance, explaining 26% of the variance (T = 6.035; p = 0.000; R² = 0.260). Lecturers receive monthly salaries, structural allowances, and fully funded certification and training, while research, community service, publications, and seminar participation are supported in accordance with institutional capacity, with international-oriented activities fully funded. In conclusion, comprehensive and well-structured financing is crucial for enhancing lecturer performance, academic productivity, and institutional reputation, providing policymakers with evidence to design effective, equitable, and sustainable higher education financing policies

Abstract

Background: Mathematical literacy is widely recognized as a key competence that enables students to interpret, analyze, and apply mathematical ideas in everyday contexts. Despite its importance, many students still experience difficulties developing this competence due to limited opportunities for meaningful problem solving and insufficient support for affective factors such as confidence and resilience. Aims: This study aimed to investigate the mediating roles of self-confidence and mathematical resilience in the relationship between Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and students’ mathematical literacy. Method: A true experimental design with a posttest-only control group was employed. The participants consisted of students from four State Islamic Junior High Schools in Bogor Regency selected through multistage random sampling. The experimental group was taught using the PBL approach, while the control group received conventional instruction. Data were collected using a mathematical literacy test and questionnaires measuring students’ self-confidence and mathematical resilience. The data were analyzed using independent samples t-tests, path analysis, and Sobel tests to examine both direct and indirect relationships among variables. Results: The findings revealed that students exposed to PBL achieved significantly higher scores in mathematical literacy, self-confidence, and mathematical resilience than those in conventional classes (p < 0.05). Path analysis indicated that PBL had a direct positive effect on mathematical literacy, while both self-confidence and mathematical resilience acted as significant mediators. Conclusion: These findings suggest that PBL can enhance students’ mathematical literacy not only through instructional processes but also by strengthening important affective attributes in mathematics learning.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to formulate a new theory on leadership strategies for overcoming organizational conflicts, based on established theories of leadership strategy and organizational conflict. Methodology/approach: This research used a qualitative approach with a literature review. Data collection techniques involved document analysis of journal articles and internet sources. Data validity was ensured through the triangulation of sources. Results: Leadership strategy focuses on planning, decision-making, and motivating people to achieve organizational goals while remembering that leaders must stay adaptive and innovative. Organizational conflicts often arise from differences in resource allocation and goals. Resolving conflict requires empowering human resources through methods such as focus group discussions, job rotation, dismissal, and collaboration, depending on the impact on performance. Limitations: The research findings cannot be generalized to all organizations and offer limited discussion of contextual dynamics, such as culture, structure, and external factors that influence the success of leadership strategies in resolving conflicts. Contributions: This study formulates a new theory on leadership strategies for resolving organizational conflicts by integrating two major theories. The findings expand the understanding of a leader's role in planning, decision-making, motivation, and inspiration in managing organizational conflicts effectively. Contributions: This research develops a new leadership theory for resolving organizational conflicts by integrating leadership, planning, and adaptive strategies, including focus group discussions, job rotation, and collaboration.

Abstract

Background. This study examines errors in organizational conflict management within library settings that lead to stress, decreased motivation, poor communication, and inefficiency in library team performance. Purpose. The aim of this research is to identify the forms and sources of conflict, describe conflict management strategies, and analyze their impact on the performance of Islamic school library teams in a multisite context. Methods. This study uses a qualitative approach with a multisite case study design at Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu Yaa Bunayya and Ma’had Badr, employing data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation, followed by data condensation analysis, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and data triangulation. Results. The findings show that conflicts arise from differences in book management, work coordination, and staff responsibilities. In Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu Yaa Bunayya, issues include damaged books, a lack of SOPs, and differing perceptions between the library head and homeroom teachers. Conflict resolution strategies involve persuasive communication, clarification, discussion, and clearer task distribution. The impact includes improved communication, greater responsibility, and greater service stability, although disciplinary variations still persist. In Ma’had Badr, conflicts are triggered by staff absenteeism, weak shift coordination, and varying work abilities, and are resolved through discussion and collective agreements grounded in organizational values. Conclusions. The conclusion indicates that conflict management through communication and deliberation improves team performance, although coordination differences persist and remain effectively addressed.
