Abstract

Students from various faculties at the State Islamic University (UIN) have a strategic role in supporting the implementation and development of Islamic sharia in Aceh. This article explores the contribution of students from across faculties, including the Sharia, Tarbiyah (Education), Psychology, Da'wah, and Ushuluddin Faculties, in supporting the implementation of Sharia values through Islamic Sharia Studies Courses in Aceh (Studi Syariat Islam di Aceh). This research approach is descriptive qualitative, with data obtained through narratives of portfolio results in class. The research results show that each faculty makes unique contributions in accordance with their expertise. The Sharia Faculty plays a role in advocacy and socialization of sharia qanun. The Tarbiyah Faculty supports strengthening Islamic education through a sharia-based curriculum. The Faculty of Psychology offers an Islamic counseling approach that is relevant to supporting people's mental health. The Da'wah Faculty utilizes digital media to spread sharia values creatively, while the Ushuluddin Faculty strengthens understanding of Islamic teachings through in-depth academic studies. This cross-faculty collaboration creates significant synergy in strengthening the holistic implementation of Islamic sharia in Aceh, both from an educational, social and cultural perspective. This research recommends the development of a more integrated cross-faculty program to support the inclusive and sustainable implementation of Islamic sharia.

Abstract

Forests play a crucial role in environmental, economic, and social sustainability by storing carbon and mitigating climate change. This study aimed to assess the vegetation composition, diversity, and carbon storage in Gunung Leuser National Park, Bukit Lawang, North Sumatra. Fieldwork, conducted using purposive and nested sampling methods, recorded 11 families and 14 plant species with 27 individuals at the tree growth level, and 11 families and 16 plant species with 30 individuals at the pole growth level. The Burseraceae family dominated tree-level composition (29%), while the Phyllanthaceae family dominated pole-level composition (28%). The highest Important Value Index (IVI) was Santiria rubiginosa (36.09%) for trees and Gironniera nervosa (55.46%) for poles. The Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index (H’) was 2.45 for trees and 2.53 for poles, with evenness values (E) of 0.93 and 0.91, respectively. The total biomass was 120.240 tons/ha, with stored carbon amounting to 55.310 tons C/ha. To better estimate carbon storage potential, further research should cover larger areas and include biomass components like litter and dead wood.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the phenomenon of postpartum medical service claims submitted to the Social Security Agency (BPJS) in Kembang Tanjong Subdistrict, Pidie Regency, which directly affects the financial burden on independent midwives. In practice, midwives often have to cover the cost of patient treatment in advance before the claim funds are disbursed. The purpose of this study is to analyse the compatibility between the BPJS postnatal medical service claim system and the concept of kafalah in fiqh muamalah, as well as to identify the forms of risk coverage provided by midwives to patients. This study uses a qualitative method with a normative sociological approach. The results show that the BPJS claim system in the region substantially reflects the values of kafalah. Still, its implementation does not fully meet the principles of clarity (bayān) and justice (‘adl). Delays in claim payments and the layered bureaucracy within community health centres are the main factors contributing to an imbalance between the insurer’s rights and obligations and those of medical personnel. Nevertheless, the actions of midwives who continue to provide services even though they have not yet received payment reflect the value of ta‘āwun (mutual assistance) in Islam.
