Abstract

This study aims to develop recitation-based teaching materials for learning qualitative analysis of cations. The procedure for developing teaching materials adopts the 4-D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Dissemination) from Thiagarajan. The development results were tested theoretically and empirically. The theoretical feasibility test was carried out using expert judgment, including chemist expert, pedagogic expert, and learning media. Empirical feasibility was tested through legibility tests and limited implementation tests. Based on the expert assessment, the recitation method based teaching materials developed in this study is content valid with individual readability of 87,86% and group readability of 89,32%. The results of testing the implementation of teaching materials in the learning process showed that recitation-based teaching materials were effective, in guiding students to do independent learning activities with an effectiveness of 84,16%. The use of Cation Qualitative Analysis teaching materials based on the recitation method in online learning is effective in increasing student understanding of qualitative analysis of cations with an N-gain value of 0,81. The students' ability to complete study assignments with the help of worksheets on teaching materials has a positive correlation, with an increase in concept understanding (r = 0,91) with a contribution value of 88,43%.

Abstract

Synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using reducing agents and serine reservoirs has been carried out. The effect of pH has been studied to determine the optimum conditions for the formation of AuNPs. Characterization was performed using a UV/Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that serine can act as a reducer and reservoir in the synthesis of AuNPs characterized by a change in color from colorless to burgundy. The highest absorbance intensity in the UV/Vis spectra indicates the optimum pH value in the formation of AuNPs. In this study, the maximum wavelength was in the 550 nm region and the highest absorbance intensity was obtained at pH 6.

Abstract

Penggunaan pestisida kimia dilakukan petani untuk menjaga tanamannya terhindar dari hama penyakit. Namun penggunaan pestisida kimia secara terus-menerus akan mengganggu kesehatan petani yang terlibat kontak langsung dengan pestisida kimia tersebut pada proses penyemprotan, dan juga kesehatan masyarakat yang bertindak sebagai konsumen karena bahan pestisida kimia yang digunakan pada hasil panen tidak akan hilang hanya dengan dibersihkan menggunakan air bersih. Selain penggunaan pestisida kimia juga akan mencemari lingkungan. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, maka dilakukan sosialisasi biopestisida alami dari Babadotan kepada kelompok tani Kelurahan Habaring Hurung, di Kecamatan Bukit Batu, Palangka Raya. Sosialisasi ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan kualitas hidup masyarakat setempat terutama dari sisi kesehatan masyarakat terkhususnya petani. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dengan praktik pembuatan biopestisida alami babadotan, pemberian materi berupa leaflet atau brosur, dan FGD (Focus Group Discussion). Hasil dari pengabdian ini secara umum memberikan bekal pengetahuan bagi petani tentang biopestisida alami yang aman bagi kesehatan dan ramah lingkungan yaitu dengan menggunakan Babadotan yang keberadaannya dianggap sebagai tumbuhan pengganggu bagi masyarakat terkhususnya petani menjadi tumbuhan yang sebaliknya sangat bermanfaat melalui pelatihan yang diberikan. Sehingga melalui pengabdian kepada masyarakat tersebut, dapat membantu petani di Kelurahan Habaring Hurung dalam mengatasi masalah kesehatan yang diakibatkan oleh penggunaan pestisida kimia. Luaran dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah brosur dan biopestisida alami dari Babadotan yang siap digunakan.

Abstract

Masyarakat pada umumnya menggunakan peptisida untuk memberantas hama ataupun penyakit tanaman tersebut. Jumlah pestisida yang digunakan dalam jumlah yang banyak, lama kelamaan akan memiliki dampak negatif bagi kesehatan dan juga merusak lingkungan. Sehingga perlu dilakukan program pelatihan pembuatan biopeptisida ini, bagi warga di Desa Habaring Hurung, Kota Palangka Raya menjadi partisipan, karena sebagian besar warga berprofesi sebagai petani. Warga Desa Habaring Hurung, Kota Palangka Raya pada umumnya menggunakan peptisida kimia dalam praktek pemeliharaan tanaman dari serangan hama. Untuk mendukung warga desa Habaring Hurung dalam meningkatkan perekonomian dibuatlah pelatihan biopeptisida dari gulma babadotan. Program pengabdian Masyarakat ini bertujuan dapat membantu warga mengatasi gangguan dan serangan hama tumbuhan dengan biopeptisida alami yang lebih murah dan aman bagi kesehatan sehingga dapat meningkatkan hasil produksi dan menekan biaya pemeliharaan pertanian, sehingga meningkatkan segi ekonomi dan sosial warga desa Habaring Hurung, Kota Palangka Raya  yang dilaksanakan pada hari senin, 4 September 2023. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan metode praktik langsung pembuatan biopestisida dengan bahan utama gulma babadotan dan FGD (Focus Group Discussion). Hasil dari pelatihan ini, warga Habaring Hurung, mengetahui dampak negative dari peptisda kimia, biopeptisida sebagai alternatif dalam pembasmi hama dan warga dapat menginovasikan pembuatan biopeptisida dengan tanaman yang mengandung senyawa aktif terhadap hama. Melalui pelatihan ini warga di Kelurahan Habaring Hurung dapat mengganti biopestisida kimia berbahaya selama ini sering dipakai dengan menggunakan biopeptisida nabati yang tentunya aman bagi Kesehatan para petani dan juga ramah lingkungan.Agricultural products are one aspect that improves the economy for people in Indonesia. However, some pests reduce the quality of agricultural products, thereby reducing selling prices. People generally use pesticides to eradicate pests or plant diseases. Excessive and long-term use of pesticides has a negative impact on health and can damage the environment. In this training program for making biopesticides, Habaring Hurung Village, Palangka Raya residents became participants because most residents work as farmers. Residents of Habaring Hurung Village, Palangka Raya, generally use chemical pesticides to protect plants from pest attacks. To support the residents of Habaring Hurung village in improving the economy, training was conducted on biopesticides from babadotan weed. This community service program aims to help residents overcome plant pest disorders and attacks with natural biopesticides that are cheaper and safer for health so that they can increase production yields and reduce agricultural maintenance costs, thereby improving the economic and social aspects of the residents of Habaring Hurung village, Palangka Raya. This activity was carried out by making a biopesticide with the main ingredient babadotan weed and FGD (Focus Group Discussion). As a result of this training, Habaring Hurung residents know the negative impacts of chemical pesticides and biopesticides as an alternative for eradicating pests, and residents can innovate the manufacture of biopesticides with plants that contain active compounds against pests.

Abstract

Hanjuang Merah (Cordyline fruticosa) is one of the plants used by the Dayak people as traditional medicine. Red hanjuang is an ornamental plant that is very abundant in Indonesia, but there is still not much research that proves the efficacy of red hanjuang. The aim of this research was to determine the phytochemical screening and antibacterial activity of leaf extract of hanjuang merah (Cordyline fruticose) against the bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis. The method used in sample extraction was maceration, while in the antibacterial test used the paper strip diffusion method with concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. The yield of ethanol extract of hanjuang merah leaf was 11.35%. There was an increase in the diameter of the inhibition zone with the addition of the concentration of ethanol extract of hanjuang merah leaf. The addition of ethanol extract of hanjuang merah leaf at a concentration of 75% sensitive inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Secondary metabolites such as tannins, alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids and quinones found in ethanol extract of hanjuang merah leaves are considered responsible for inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria.

Abstract

Purpose: Stunting is a condition in which a child's physical growth and development are hampered due to malnutrition during the growth period. This condition occurs in children under 5 years of age. This age period is critical for the formation and development of body organs in children. Therefore, an innovative and holistic approach is needed to prevent stunting. One potential that can be exploited is the fruit of the karamunting plant (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa), which has traditionally been used as an herbal medicine. Candy containing healthy and delicious caramunting fruits can be an interesting way to increase nutritional intake, especially for children who have barriers to consuming nutritious food. Methodology: Implementation of community service through an educational workshop on the importance of knowledge about stunting prevention in children through local food innovation with Karamunting fruit candy (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa) was carried out on Saturday, October 7, 2023, between: 08.00-11.00 WIB, with the activity location at Habaring Hurung Village Hall. The partners for this community service activity are the heads and staff of Habaring Hurung Village, Bukit Batu District, Palangka Raya City, and Central Kalimantan. The targets of this service activity are mothers and children in Posyandu. Service procedures are the coordination, observation, activity implementation, and evaluation stages. Results: The participants understood the dangers and prevention of stunting in their children. The participants understood how to make karamunting fruit candy a local food that can be used and developed. Limitations: Karamunting fruit candy as a food innovation to prevent stunting produced by this community service program has no known expiration date or shelf life and there is no standard composition or dosage for candy to prevent stunting. Contribution: This community service activity can have a positive impact on the people of Hurung Village. This activity is able to increase insight and the ability to prevent the spread of stunting through innovation in making candy from karamunting fruit, even if residents can implement it independently.

Abstract

Kelakai (Stenochlaena palustris) is a type of medicinal fern used by the Dayak ethnic community in traditional medicine. The diverse bioactivity of kelakai is closely related to its high antioxidant content. The phytochemical compounds found in kelakai, such as phenols, flavonoids, anthocyanins, hydroxycinnamic acid, proanthocyanidins, tannins, alkaloids, saponins, carotenoids, and terpenoids, are believed to be produced by the endophytic microbes present in kelakai. Endophytic bacteria can be isolated from the plant, such as leaves, stems, bark, and roots. This research aims to isolate and identify endophytic bacteria from S. palustris. The method used is direct planting. The samples used are the leaves and stems of S. palustris. The results of the research conducted revealed six isolates of endophytic bacteria found in the leaves and stems, namely D1, D2, B1, B2, B3, and B4, which exhibit different colony morphology on the surface and color, while having similar shapes and edges. The results of the Gram staining test on the endophytic bacteria showed negative results and they are rod-shaped. In this study, endophytic bacteria S. palustris were successfully obtained from leaves and stems, which can be further analyzed for their activity.

Abstract

One of the solutions developed for utilizing organic materials in agriculture is the use of biological fertilizer. This research is different from previous fertilizer research, where the biofertilizer in this study came from empty palm oil bunches, animal waste by using maggots (BSF larvae, Hermetia illucens) and local microorganisms to degrade them. The aim of this research is to obtain the composition of organic biofertilizer from three wastes that have been processed using maggots and local microorganisms. This research method uses RAL with 12 treatments with 3 repetitions. The results of a study of organic biofertilizer from BSF larvae and a consortium of local microorganisms on white mustard plants (Brasica chinensis) showed that treatment with a combination of animal waste, microbes and BSF larvae showed good results on the growth of white mustard plants. This is proven by the results of measuring soil pH, the highest height of chicory plants and the highest number of leaves compared to other organic biological fertilizer treatments, which were produced at the end of the measurement on day 30, the pH in the treatment with that combination is 4, plant height is 33 cm, and the number of leaves is 20.

Abstract

Abstrak Penumpukan sampah organik masih menjadi salah satu penyumbang terbesar masalah lingkungan. Kegiatan pembatasan timbunan sampah, pendauran ulang sampah, atau pemanfaatan kembali sampah adalah upaya yang dilakukan untuk pengurangan penumpukan sampah. Pengolahan sampah organik yang mudah dan efisien dengan menjadikannya eco-enzim dapat menjadi upaya untuk mempersuasi masyarakat dalam meningkatkan kesadaran untuk mengelola sampah. SMA Negeri 6 Palangka Raya yang terletak di Tumbang Tahai, Kecamatan Bukit Batu, Kota Palangka Raya menjadi mitra dalam kegiatan pengabdian. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian adalah untuk memberi pengetahuan kepada siswa metode pengelolaan sampah organik yang mudah dan efisien, meningkatkan keterampilan siswa untuk membuat eco-enzim, sekaligus memperkenalkan implementasi ilmu kimia dalam penanganan masalah lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan dengan metode penyuluhan dan pelatihan kepada para siswa. Setelah dilakukan kegiatan pelatihan terdapat peningkatan motivasi siswa untuk mengolah sampah dapur menjadi eco-enzim sebesar 72.62%, terdapat peningkatan pemahaman para siswa terhadap eco-enzim dan secara kualitatif para siswa memiliki pandangan bahwa implementasi ilmu kimia itu menarik. Secara umum para peserta memberikan penilaian bahwa kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan memberikan manfaat. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengabdian yang dilakukan telah berhasil memberikan wawasan, keterampilan, dan meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam pengolahan sampah organik menjadi eco-enzim. Abstract The accumulation of organic waste is one of the main contributors to environmental problems. Limitingwaste piles, recycling waste, or reusing waste are efforts to reduce waste accumulation. Easy and efficientprocessing of organic waste by making it an eco-enzyme can be an alternative way to persuade public awarenesstowards waste management. A Senior High School, SMA Negeri 6 Palangka Raya, located in Tumbang Tahai,Bukit Batu District, Palangka Raya City, was a partner in this community service activities. The purposes of thecommunity service were to provide students with knowledge regarding the easy and efficient method of organicwaste management, improve students' skills in making eco-enzyme, as well as introduce the implementation ofchemistry in handling environmental problems. Community service activities were carried out through counselingand training methods for students. After the training activities, there was an increase in students' motivation to process kitchen waste into eco-enzymes by 72.62%, there was an increase in students' understanding of eco-enzymes, and qualitatively the students had the point of view that the implementation of chemistry was interesting. In general, the participants assessed that the counseling and training provided was beneficial. In conclusion, thecommunity service activity has succeeded in providing insight, skills, and increasing student motivation inprocessing organic waste into eco-enzymes.
