Abstract

As a new student, it is a big challenge for everyone. As an individual, it is very important to have high academic self-efficacy, to optimize the educational process being undertaken. Academic self-efficacy is an individual's belief in tasks and achieving academic achievement. 'Rapid counseling' is the provision of assistance with rapid counseling, and can be combined well with art. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of 'rapid counseling' with single-session music therapy (RC-SSMT) to increase academic self-efficacy in three students. This study is a quantitative experimental study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The subjects of this study were three students of the Department of Guidance and Counseling, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (class of 2021), who experienced low academic self-efficacy based on questionnaires that had been filled out by the subjects. The data collection technique in this study was using interviews and questionnaires. This study used the Academic Self-Efficacy Scale (TASES) instrument which consisted of 28 items and had a validity of 0.893 and a reliability of 0.700. In the implementation of RC-SSMT, it can be effective in increasing academic self-efficacy with just one meeting session and can make the client independent with the "soundtrack of my life" that has been created together with the counselor during the counseling service so that when the client's academic is low again, the client only needs to listen to the song that has been created together with the counselor.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is typified by a wide range of symptoms, such as delusions, hallucinations, cognitive decline, and social disengagement. Even with improvements in pharmaceutical and psychosocial therapy, many people with schizophrenia still require supplementary treatment methods due to their chronic symptoms and functional limitations. Utilizing music's therapeutic capacity to address a variety of symptoms and enhance general well-being, music therapy has emerged as a possible supplementary intervention for schizophrenia. In this study, the author used a literature review with a Critically Appraised Topic (CAT); this research is a summary of the best available evidence regarding the focused aims. This CAT looks at the theoretical underpinnings, empirical data, and therapeutic applications of music therapy for people with schizophrenia. The usefulness of music therapy interventions in regulating attention, affective processing, and social cognition in people with schizophrenia is further supported by psychological and neurological theories. Historical summaries show the major turning points and advancements in the field as they follow the development of music therapy methods and approaches. Following music therapy interventions, there is empirical evidence of decreased positive and negative symptoms, improved psychosocial functioning, and improved quality of life outcomes. The implications for clinical practice also highlight how crucial it is to incorporate evidence-based music therapy interventions into all-encompassing treatment programs for schizophrenia, with a focus on individualized methods, interdisciplinary teamwork, and ongoing professional development. The present research evaluation underscores the diverse advantages of music therapy and its capacity to augment comprehensive treatment and welfare for individuals with schizophrenia.

Abstract

Most of millennials college students in Indonesia still think that undergraduate thesis is a terrifying final project. In the process of making the undergraduate thesis, they often do something non-productive, like procrastinating doing it and avoiding their supervisors. This excessive academic anxiety toward undergraduate thesis could lead them to do something irrational, e.g. suicide. As one of college’s internal agents of change, psychologists or educational counselors are expected to overcome the problem which frequently happens every year by giving the students an intervention in accordance with their interests and needs as millennials. Music, as one of millennials’ essential needs, can be used as an alternative to therapeutic healing medium. Conventional counseling strategy that has been conducted all this time, shows only ineffective result. That is why it is needed to be changed into modern approach that is more effective in reducing academic anxiety of the millennials college students, which is integrative approach through music therapy intervention in counseling.

Abstract

This study attempts to evaluate the Indonesian adaptation of the DASS-21, a scale adapted from Peter F. and Sydney H. Lovibond 1995 to assess levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. Multistage random sampling taking from 1478 Indonesian. Additionally, we use The Rasch measurement model to examine psychometric properties of DASS-21. The results indicate that the DASS-21 fulfills the psychometric measurement aspect by providing evidence as a valid and reliable instrument, with a very good item reliability value .99 and sufficient person reliability (.89), as well as a Cronbach alpha value KR-20.  of .91, meaning that the quality of the items is very good for revealing depression, anxiety, and stress. Furthermore, the results are reinforced by the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) value to the residual of 39.7%, meaning that the items in DASS-21 are representative for measuring depression, anxiety, and stress. Therefore, it can be said that the DASS-21 is valid and reliable for assessing the levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. The Indonesian translation of the DASS-21 constructs can also be used to assess the stress, anxiety, and depression levels.
