Abstract

Cataract is one of the leading causes of blindness in the world and in Indonesia. The prevalence of blindness due to cataracts increases annually by 0.1% of the total Indonesian population. Cataracts are caused by several risk factors. Based on this, early prevention efforts are needed to reduce the risk factors for cataract blindness. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of risk factors for cataract incidence based on the epidemiological triad, determine the relationship and magnitude of risk factors for cataract incidence. This type of research uses a literature review method of 16 journals consisting of 12 national journals and 4 international journals that discuss cataract risk factors. The results showed that risk factors were significantly associated with a p value of <0.05 with cataract incidence. Host risk factors are age ≥60 years, female gender, low education level, non-white race, genetic history (family cataract, diabetes mellitus, hypertension), and smoking habit. Based on agent exposure to ultraviolet light, and lack of antioxidant consumption are more at risk for cataract incidence. Then based on the environment, risk factors consist of climate, work outside the building, and low income levels. In conclusion, age, gender, education, race, genetic history (family cataract, diabetes mellitus, hypertension), smoking habit, ultraviolet light exposure, lack of antioxidant consumption, climate, occupation, and income level are significantly related and at risk for cataract incidence.

Abstract

Introduction Burnout has been more frequently studied among healthcare professionals such as nurses and midwives; however, limited research has focused on the broader spectrum of healthcare workers. This gap forms the basis of the present study. Unaddressed burnout conditions may negatively impact employee performance, ultimately affecting the institution. Methods This study employed a mixed-method approach using an embedded concurrent strategy. The quantitative component involved 24 respondents who completed the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) questionnaire. The qualitative component included in-depth interviews with 5 primary informants and 1 key informant.   Results Among the 24 healthcare workers, 8 individuals (33.3%) experienced moderate levels of burnout, while the remaining 16 (66.7%) reported low levels of burnout. Through in-depth interviews, 8 themes and 22 categories were identified, of which 12 categories were recognized as factors contributing to burnout.   Conclusion and Recommendations The most influential factors contributing to burnout were workload and dual roles. Efforts to address and prevent burnout among healthcare workers are necessary, including: management evaluation of workload distribution, enhanced interpersonal approaches, development of new policies for recruiting or assigning specific personnel for administrative tasks, and improved leadership support within the organization.

Abstract

The prevalence of presenteeism among female employees is higher than among male workers due to greater pressure to perform. This condition can lead to musculoskeletal pain, poor mental health, sleep difficulties, depression, and burnout. This study aimed to analyze the association between individual factors and work-related factors with presenteeism behavior among female workers at PT Bank BNI. The study used a cross-sectional study design with a population of 110 female workers. The sampling technique used a saturated sampling technique with the entire population as the sample. Data were collected through online questionnaires of individual characteristics questionnaires, QEEW questionnaires, job insecurity questionnaires, Co-Worker Support Scale questionnaires, and SPS-6 questionnaires. Data analysis included univariate, bivariate, and multivariate. Bivariate analysis used the chi-square test and simple logistic regression test, while multivariate analysis used multiple logistic regression tests. The results of bivariate analysis indicated a significant association between age (p = 0.026), marital status (p = 0.045), and tenure (p = 0.049) with presenteeism behavior. The multivariate analysis identified education level as the most dominant variable (POR = 4.847). This study concluded that younger age, married status, and shorter tenure influence presenteeism behavior among female workers at PT Bank BNI, with higher education level as the dominant variable. Therefore, companies should consider providing training or workshops on presenteeism and implementing paid sick leave policies to prevent presenteeism behavior and increase work productivity.

Abstract

Indonesia, located within the Pacific Ring of Fire, is highly susceptible to natural disasters, particularly earthquakes. These events pose significant risks, including infrastructure damage, injuries, and psychosocial effects, especially among populations lacking proper preparedness, such as elementary school children. This community service activity focuses on increasing earthquake preparedness awareness among 3rd-grade students at Lazuardi Depok, West Java. The goal was to educate and enhance students' understanding of earthquake safety measures through interactive and engaging activities. The approach included presentations, simulations, and educational videos. The methods used involved pre-tests and post-tests to assess students' knowledge before and after the session. Results indicated an improvement in earthquake preparedness, with post-test scores increasing by 4.8 points compared to the pre-test. Additionally, the students demonstrated their ability to perform appropriate safety actions during earthquake simulations. This program effectively contributed to raising awareness and enhancing earthquake preparedness among students. It is recommended that similar educational initiatives be conducted regularly to ensure the long-term retention of preparedness skills.
