Abstract

Pendidikan anak usia dini memerlukan dukungan lingkungan keluarga yang aman dan bahagia agar perkembangan sosial, emosional, dan kognitif anak berlangsung optimal. Namun, masih banyak orang tua yang memaknai ruang aman sebatas aspek fisik dan belum memahami pentingnya keamanan emosional serta komunikasi empatik dalam pengasuhan. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kapasitas orang tua serta pendidik dalam menciptakan ruang aman dan bahagia bagi anak melalui pengasuhan positif dan komunikasi lembut. Metode pelaksanaannya meliputi tiga tahapan, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi, yang dilakukan melalui penyampaian materi, diskusi interaktif, serta refleksi bersama orang tua di TK Negeri Pembina 4 Kota Jambi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman orang tua mengenai konsep keamanan emosional, pengasuhan responsif, dan pentingnya regulasi emosi dalam mendampingi anak. Implikasi kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa sosialisasi parenting berbasis kebutuhan nyata keluarga berpotensi memberikan dampak berkelanjutan terhadap kualitas pengasuhan, kesejahteraan anak, dan perkembangan anak usia dini.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan sosialisasi parenting dalam penguatan karakter anak melalui kegiatan Pohon Kebersamaan (Family Tree). Latar belakang kegiatan ini didasarkan pada lemahnya peran keluarga dalam pendidikan karakter anak akibat berkurangnya intensitas interaksi dan komunikasi emosional antara orang tua dan anak. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian dilakukan melalui tiga tahap, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Tahap pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi parenting kepada orang tua serta praktik pembuatan Pohon Kebersamaan yang melibatkan partisipasi aktif orang tua dan anak. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi partisipatif, dokumentasi kegiatan, dan diskusi reflektif. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa sosialisasi parenting yang dipadukan dengan aktivitas Pohon Kebersamaan mampu meningkatkan kesadaran orang tua terhadap perannya dalam pendidikan karakter anak, memperkuat relasi emosional antara orang tua dan anak, serta mendukung internalisasi nilai-nilai karakter seperti empati, tanggung jawab, dan kebersamaan. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif bagi peserta dan berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai model penguatan karakter anak berbasis keluarga.

Abstract

The advancement of information technology has increased young children’s exposure to digital devices, which potentially affects language development. This study aims to analyze the relationship between daily screen time duration and language development of children aged 5–6 years in Desa Mendalo Indah, Kecamatan Jambi Luar Kota, Kabupaten Muaro Jambi. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects were six children aged 5–6 years who had more than two hours of daily screen time. Data were collected through observations of children’s language abilities, interviews with parents, and documentation of daily activities, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s (2014) interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed variations in children’s language abilities despite having relatively similar screen time durations. Children who received active parental guidance and accessed educational content demonstrated better receptive and expressive language skills, including following sequential instructions, forming simple sentences, and expressing ideas verbally. Conversely, children who used screen time passively without supervision tended to have limitations in vocabulary acquisition, concentration, and verbal interaction. These findings indicate that screen time duration alone is not the sole determinant of children’s language development; it is also influenced by the quality of parental guidance, the type of content accessed, and social interaction experiences. This study is expected to provide guidance for parents, teachers, and early childhood education practitioners in managing digital media use wisely to optimally support children’s language development.

Abstract

Literacy skills are a crucial foundation for early childhood, determining their readiness to enter further education. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Make A Match learning model, when supplemented with flashcards, in enhancing the literacy skills of children in Group B (aged 5-6 years) at Harokatil Islamiah Kindergarten. The method employed was a pre-experimental study with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design, involving 12 children as the sample. Data were collected through performance tests and analyzed using a paired-samples t-test. The results showed a significant increase. The average literacy score of the children increased from 12.16 (43.45% of the ideal score) on the pretest to 20.08 (71.72%) on the posttest. Further analysis revealed that this difference was statistically significant (p-value = 0.000, p < 0.05). These findings confirm that the Make A Match model, using flashcards, not only provides a fun and interactive learning experience but also positively affects the development of children's early literacy skills. This card-matching activity successfully trains phonological awareness, letter recognition, and other cognitive skills in a way that children enjoy. This study recommends this model as an innovative learning strategy alternative that educators and parents can adopt
