Abstract

Background:  Each user has their smartphone to do communication. The user tends to use social media to communicate each other. Now in pandemic of COVID 19, the teachers do mostly communication to the students and/or to the expatriate teacher are using English.Purpose: This study is aim to reveal on teacher perspective on what extent that the social media help them to enrich the English skills.Design and methods: This study is conducted by using narrative inquiry method. The narrative inquiry method aims to reveal certain topic referring to stories and/or experiences. There are 9 participants who works as teacher at international schools at Tangerang. The participants’ selection is using purposive sampling strategy as knowing the participants will give their stories to only their close friend. The data is validated by triangulation of data source technique. The triangulation of data source technique is done by crosschecking the data among participants’ responses.Results: This study revealed that social websites and the content of media give more impact to the improvement of English skills of the teachers. This research recommends to investigate a certain categories social media on specific skills and/or to investigate a certain platform in promoting the English learning process.

Abstract

Background: Textbooks are one of the learning media used by elementary school students. Textbooks function to support teachers in the learning process and become a source of knowledge for students in following the learning process. Books as teaching materials are books that contain various subject matter produced by an author based on the applicable curriculum and serve as guidelines for teachers and students in the learning process. Purpose: This study focuses on the study to describe the level of readability of teaching materials adapted to children's cognition. Design and methods: The method used is a qualitative method with data analysis of readability text on webfx . The data used as a source in this study is in the form of text contained in teaching materials for English lessons for grades 2 and 6.. Results: Based on the results of the readability text on webfx , only a book with the title Knowing Kinds of Animals Using the Game "Card Hunting" is intended for grade 4 according to with the level of child cognition intended for grade 2, the age range of 8-9 years shows conformity, meaning that it is easy to understand. With an average readability of about 82 out of 100%. That textbook Easy to understand by 8 to 9 years old. Because one of the characteristics of a good textbook can be analyzed from the use of its structure and linguistic symbols. This means that all the information contained in the text book can be easily understood by readers or children at their age.

Abstract

Background: The use of media in the learning process can facilitate the process of communication or delivery of messages from teachers to students. Students can clearly understand the instruction meaning or message that the teacher conveys. Purpose: This study aims to determine the learning outcomes of students using graphic media and the effect of using graphic media on student learning outcomes in Indonesian subjects for class IV instructional texts at MI Almunazomah, Caringin District, Bogor Regency. Design and methods: This research is an experimental research. The subjects of this study were all fourth-grade students, totalling 20 people. The test instrument used to determine student learning outcomes is a multiple choice test in the form of pre-test and post-test. Results: The results of this study indicate that the experimental group taught using graphic media obtained an average pre-test average value post-test of 77 with a standard deviation of 16.36. Changes in learning outcomes are 42 by using graphic media. While the mean value of the pre-test in the control group was 37 with a standard deviation of 13.37 and the average value of the post-test was 52 with a standard deviation of 14.76. Changes in learning outcomes are 15 without using graphic media. Based on the hypothesis testing criteria at = 0.05, t observe = 3.59 and t table = 2.10 so that t observe > t table or 3.59 > 2.19 then Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the use of graphic media on the learning outcomes of fourth grade students in the Indonesian subject of instructional text material at MI Almunazomah, Caringin District, Bogor Regency.
