Abstract

This activity addresses the themes of literacy and guidance on gadget use, aiming to equip children at Sekolah Master Depok with the skills needed to navigate modern life while maintaining positive activities like reading. In an increasingly sophisticated digital world, gadgets are not something foreign across all age groups, including children. While these technologies provide easy access to both beneficial and harmful content, the need for digital literacy has never been more urgent. UNESCO reports that Indonesia’s reading interest index is just 0.001%, meaning only one in every 1,000 Indonesians is an avid reader. Furthermore, Senior Economist Aviliani of INDEF highlights that Indonesia's digital literacy rate is only 62%, the lowest in ASEAN, where the average is around 70%. In response to these concerns, this activity was implemented at schools that cater to children with limited access to educational resources. Several strategies were employed, including explaining the positive impacts of literacy, introducing books and educational apps, discussing the negative consequences of excessive gadget use, and guiding students on how to use gadgets for productive purposes. The final results (outputs) produced from the activity that will be achieved are in the form of articles, videos, and posters designed to encourage positive behaviors. The expected benefits include a greater interest in literacy and the responsible use of gadgets, particularly for children in underprivileged areas. Additionally, the program aims to prevent the negative effects of digital devices, such as exposure to pornography and online gambling.

Abstract

The development of digital technology in the millennial era has revolutionized the way students obtain and process information, especially in the context of higher education. Podcasts, as an audio-based digital learning medium, offer flexibility, accessibility and special appeal for the younger generation who are familiar with digital content. This article analyzes the role of podcasts as a legal learning medium with a case study of three episodes of the "Mata Najwa" podcast which discuss legal issues, especially corruption cases and the justice system in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach with a content analysis method, which focuses on the cognitive, affective and conative aspects of students after watching the show. The research results show that podcasts not only increase legal understanding (cognitive), but also build empathy (affective), and trigger active participation of students as agents of change (conative). Inspirational narratives and relevant content in podcasts have proven effective in building legal awareness, integrity, and student motivation to get involved in social issues. However, the use of podcasts as an educational medium also faces regulatory challenges, digital literacy, and the risk of spreading inaccurate information. With proper management and adequate policy support, podcasts can be a transformative learning strategy in the era of digital education.

Abstract

The role of interviews in talk shows as a medium for shaping public awareness of civic values is an effective way to convey values from various aspects and experiences of the interviewees with the talk show host through casual conversation, but still within the scope of the discussion. The study employed a qualitative method with a content analysis approach on various talk show episodes covering social, legal, educational, and cultural themes. Data collection was conducted using the observation-recording method from a total of 33 talk show episodes across 11 national television programs and digital platforms. The research results indicate that talk shows have strong educational potential in conveying moral messages, national values, and encouraging active community participation in national and state life. The civic values that emerge in the programs include: integrity, justice, equality, inclusivity, environmental awareness, legal compliance, and social participation. The inclusive representation of sources reflects the diversity and involvement of various elements of society in building civic values. The findings and recommendations discussed in this article emphasize the importance of monitoring and developing the quality of talk show content as an effective non-formal civic education tool.

Abstract

The phenomenon of alcohol and drug abuse among teenagers and young people in Indonesia continues to show a worrying trend, both in terms of the level of occurrence and the consequences caused. This article aims to reveal the main factors driving the occurrence of drinking parties that lead to drug abuse among young people and relevant prevention and handling strategies, in order to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future. This study uses a qualitative approach with content analysis obtained from news broadcasts and media documentation. The results of this study indicate that adolescent involvement in drinking parties is driven by internal factors such as curiosity and the search for identity, as well as external factors such as peer pressure and permissive social norms, and the transition to drug abuse occurs gradually and is reinforced by interactions in the community. In terms of handling, the legal approach is now starting to prioritize rehabilitation over criminalization, although challenges such as lack of facilities and community stigma are still obstacles in the process of social reintegration. Therefore, a collaborative approach is needed involving families, schools, communities, and law enforcement.
