Abstract

Prima Oryza Abadi, a small rice milling and sales business in Krandegan Village, Kebumen Regency, faces challenges in product quality and business legality that limit its competitiveness and business growth. The rice produced has a cloudy color, low cleanliness levels, and many broken grains, resulting in a selling price of only around IDR 11,000–13,000 per kg, far below the market potential of IDR 17,000/kg if quality were improved. In addition, the lack of business licenses, trademarks, and legal entities makes it difficult for partners to access capital, establish cooperation, and build consumer trust. The objective of this program is to increase business capacity and competitiveness through product quality improvement, operational efficiency, and strengthening of legality-based business management. The methods used include socialization, training in rice whitening machine technology, the application of technological innovations with a capacity of 150 kg/hour with a steam atomization system, air drying, and low-speed milling, as well as assistance in obtaining a Business Identification Number (NIB), PIRT Certificate, trademark at the National Intellectual Property Agency (DJKI), and the establishment of a legal entity (UD). The results show a significant improvement in rice quality, as seen in whiter color, better cleanliness, and fewer damaged or broken grains. The machine is capable of efficiently processing 150 kg of rice per hour without the use of chemicals, thus meeting food safety standards. Partners have successfully registered trademarks and obtained complete business legality, enabling direct sales to consumers and market expansion. Management assistance also improved financial management and digital marketing capabilities. Overall, the program successfully improved product quality, competitiveness, and business sustainability, while supporting 2 and 8 and strengthening the local economy.

Abstract

For a government institution, legal products issued, for example, population documents, such as the Limited Stay Certificate (SKTT), must be of the highest quality and legally accountable. In this case, the quality I'm referring to is the accuracy of the translation of the limited stay certificate document at the Population and Civil Registration Office of Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region Province. This research is a qualitative research based on the opinions of the community who use the Limited Stay Certificate service at the Population and Civil Registration Service of Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta Province. This research aims to evaluate the accuracy of translations in official Indonesian documents, specifically temporary residential cards (SKTT), using independents sample T test methods (compares the means of two different or unrelated groups), a quantitative approach was used, with data collected through a scale-based questionnaire distributed to professional translators and users of official documents to measure the accuracy level of each translation element. Based of this research results indicate that SKTT get average values 3,9, on a scale from 1 to 5 and T table result Ho is accepted, which means that respondents think that the translation in the SKTT (temporary residential cards) is accurate. Significant factors impacting translation accuracy include the complexity of the original text and translator familiarity with legal terminology. Based on these findings, this study recommends specific improvements in translation practices, particularly focusing on consistency and cultural adaptation. This research is expected to provide valuable insights for translators and institutions to improve the quality of official document translations in Indonesia specifically in Department of population and civil registration of Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region.

Abstract

A recent popular topic of interest in the study of ChatGPT as an AI translation technology is the quality of translations generated by ChatGPT and the factors influencing this AI to meet users’ expectations. However, translation studies studies focusing on role-based prompting for translation are still rarely under investigation, particularly those involving advertising materials such as airline slogans. This study explores a novel prompting strategy for ChatGPT by assigning role-based prompting utilizing persona pattern to translate English airline slogans into Indonesian. Airline slogans were purposely chosen due to their typical memorability, differentiation, and emotional connection to retain global customers in the aspects of safety, comfort, or unique services. It aims to identify the typology of language style and translation techniques emerged from the translations generated by ChatGPT. These two aspects are significant to study due to slogans’ typical syntax structures and linguistic choices that build them up and the need to improve understanding of AI’s translation behavior when translating slogans. Under the design of qualitative research, four stages of the prompt design stage; ChatGPT’s translation generation stage; data coding stage; and analysis on language style and translation technique stage were conducted by the researchers. First, ChatGPT 4.0 was commanded to translate 30 data of English international airline slogans collected from various online information sources, including the airlines’ official websites, into Indonesian using the “skilled translator” prompt (Prompt 1) and “translation professor” prompt (Prompt 2), which basically represents two expert professions from industry context and academic context. Their Indonesian translations generated from ChatGPT 4.0 were then coded and examined using translation comparative methods. To identify the types of language style and translation techniques appearing from the perspective of each role, Grey’s (2008, in Munder, 2024) theory of language style types, Shi’s (2014) linguistic components of slogans, and Li’s (2025) five techniques of translating slogans were applied. The findings reveal that when commanded with Prompt 1 and 2, ChatGPT generates outputs reflecting the viewpoint of each role. Prompt 1 produces shorter, catchier phrases and exhibits some colloquial lexical choices suiting advertising needs although they tend to use more literal translation techniques. Prompt 2 leans towards semantic fidelity using slightly longer words and more alliterative touch in a grandiose manner to likely achieve poetic appealing. Unexpectedly, instead of employing creative translation techniques to render the source texts, under both prompts, ChatGPT applies literal translation and free translation as its predominant techniques. This study contributes theoretically to providing more empirical studies on role-based prompting for translation and optimizing ChatGPT prompt training to improve ChatGPT’s creativity in translating advertising materials. Practically, it assists ChatGPT’s everyday users to efficiently generate real-time outputs nearly meeting their expectation. Nevertheless, reassuring the ChatGPT’s outputs in line with the airlines’ value and identity behind the slogans still needs to be done.

Abstract

The essential role of risk communication in the disaster involved in the extreme flood crisis on Sumatra in the end of 2025 was critical to human safety. Nonetheless, the press releases of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) sometimes had complicated language, and this was might unable to attract the masses to identify with this natural phenomenon. This study explored the meteorological registers and readability of BMKG press releases and how its impact on pedagogy. This study employed the Mixed Methods Research (MMR) approach by analyzing official press releases of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra BMKG on November to December 2025 flood crisis. The Flesch Reading Ease (FRE) formula was used to measure the quantitative readability, and the qualitative analysis was used to examine the differences between the main texts and the appendices. The results indicate that there is a shift in language use: the Main Texts are characterized by a scientific register, high lexical density, global meteorological vocabulary (e.g., MJO, IOD, TC), and unclear acronyms, indicating characteristic of the scientific language prevails. Contrastingly, the Appendices are written with a practical register, which provides easy to follow clear actionable instructions. This finding is supported by FRE scores, showing that the Main Texts score is between -43.75 and 17.8 (on a scale of 0-100, where lower scores indicate higher complexity), whereas the Appendices score is far better, between -34,14 and 40,29. This significant gap between language and text function makes the reasoning behind meteorological warnings might inaccessible to the people, causing them to obey without being able to fully comprehend the underlying meteorological risks and the necessity of the warnings. Then, this study proposed four stages of teaching model as pedagogy impact as follow: analysis, deconstruction, reconstruction and evaluation, to prepare future science communicators to bridge the gap between expert information with public understanding.

Abstract

This research aims to examines emotional contradictions in Wham!'s “Last Christmas” through semantic analysis and conceptual metaphors. Using a qualitative descriptive method, six respondents without formal music education provided emotional perceptions of the song. The lyrics, centered on loss and betrayal, employ metaphors like “I gave you my heart” to convey trust and vulnerability. In contrast, the upbeat melody fosters a positive atmosphere, enhancing the emotional complexity for listeners. Findings highlight how metaphors help conceptualize abstract emotions, while the melody emphasizes emotional contrasts. This interplay between lyrics and melody transforms “Last Christmas” into a reflective artistic piece, offering deeper insights into emotional expression and contributing to the study of music-emotion relationships.
