Abstract. Indonesia is an archipelagic country, which is located between 3 very active tectonic plates, namely Eurasia, the Pacific and Indo-Australia. The activity of these three plates also has the potential to be a source of disaster. The main factor that can cause many victims is the human factor, namely lack of knowledge and preparedness in facing the tsunami disaster (Satria Sari, 2017). Communities as victims affected by disasters are at risk in the form of death, injury, illness, life at risk, loss of property, and disruption of community activities. These risks can be reduced or prevented if resilience has been formed within the community. The aim of this activity is to improve the Tsunami Disaster Preparedness of the Kuta Village Disaster Preparedness Team (TSBD) in the Kuta Village Working Area, Pujut, Central Lombok Regency. This community service activity will be carried out in 1 village, namely Kuta Village, Central Lombok Regency, with a target audience namely Representatives of the Village Disaster Preparedness Team and 30 community elements. This training activity will be carried out using educational methods through WhatsApp groups and e-modules as well as training consisting of mass triage, victim evacuation techniques, stabilization and basic life support using simulation methods, trauma healing and reproductive health during disasters. The outputs aimed at community service results are mandatory outputs in the form of publications in community service journals, interactive feedback sheets on giving capacity and videos of activities provided to the community, and additional outputs in the form of IPR certificates.

Abstract

The growing understanding of the importance of Basic Life Support (BLS) training among adolescents in organized communities has given rise to the need to implement engaging learning methods. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Snakes and Ladders and Flashcard game methods on the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of adolescents in Karang Taruna in Babussalam Village. The method used was the Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest Posttest design, with 64 adolescents as respondents taken through stratified random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that there was a significant increase in the level of knowledge (from 4.48 to 9.56, p < 0.001), attitudes (from 22.55 to 37.95, p < 0.001), and skills (from 0 to 5.83, p < 0.001) after the implementation of the intervention. These results confirm that the game and visualization methods help in improving BLS understanding and skills. In conclusion, the use of the Snakes and Ladders and Flashcard game methods is effective in improving adolescent knowledge, attitudes, and skills, thus contributing to improving community health capacity in Babussalam Village. This study recommends the application of similar interactive methods in other health training programs to strengthen the appeal and effectiveness of learning.

Abstract

Introduction: Sudden cardiac arrest is a medical emergency that requires immediate intervention in the form of Basic Life Support (BLS). Adolescent knowledge and skills in performing BLS are crucial, especially in areas with limited access to emergency services. This research to assess the effect of simulation-based health education on adolescents' knowledge and skills in performing BLS at Junior High School.  Methods: This study used a pre-experimental design with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest approach. A total of 52 students were randomly selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and skills checklists, and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. In this study, the independent variable is the simulation-based health education provided to adolescents, which serves as the intervention aimed at improving their preparedness in emergency situations. The dependent variables are the adolescents’ knowledge and skills in performing Basic Life Support (BLS).  Results: Prior to the intervention, all participants (100%) had low knowledge and skills in BLS. After the intervention, 83% of participants had good knowledge, and 56% were skilled in performing BLS. Statistical analysis revealed a significant improvement in both knowledge and skills (p=0.000). Conclusion: Simulation-based health education significantly improved adolescents' knowledge and skills in BLS. Future research is recommended to involve larger and more diverse populations, such as students from different educational levels (elementary, high school, or university) or adolescents from rural and urban areas, to compare the effectiveness of simulation-based health education across settings.

Abstract

Abstract. Earthquakes are one of the disasters that frequently occur in Indonesia, such as the one that happened on Lombok Island in 2018. The series of earthquakes above 6 on the Richter Scale had a severe impact on the community, causing damage to residential homes and school buildings. One of the groups most affected during the disaster was children with disabilities. The damaged and collapsed school buildings, where children spend an average of seven hours a day, categorize schools as disaster-prone areas because a disaster can happen during school hours. Efforts to increase disaster preparedness often fail to involve children with disabilities, even though approximately 15% of the world's disaster victims are people with disabilities. Children with disabilities are vulnerable to becoming victims of a disaster due to a lack of understanding and preparedness. The purpose of this community service activity is to enhance the understanding of disaster preparedness among children with disabilities using a Pop-Up Book for Disability (POBODY) and videos. This activity was conducted at SLB Negeri 1 Lombok Barat in Dasan Geria village, West Lombok Regency, with a target audience of 30 special needs students. The activity was carried out through education using a Pop-Up Book for Disability (POBODY) and videos, followed by an evaluation of the results. The evaluation showed a significant increase in knowledge among the children with disabilities. Abstrak. Abstract

Adolescence is a time of curiosity about many things, including sexual behaviors that make it possible to become infected with sexually transmitted diseases. Education is needed to prevent transmission by providing material on the infections of reproductive organs. Based on this, this service aims to increase students' knowledge at the Pondok Pesantren Darul Hukumaini about the types of sexually transmitted infections and how to prevent them. The methods used for assessment were pre-test and post-test. Delivery of material was carried out using lecture and presentation methods to students. The participants were 32 aged 16-17 years and female. The assessment results showed an increase in students' scores from an average of 5.8 in the pre-test to 9.6 in the post-test. The lowest score obtained in the pre-test was 0 to 6.4 after the post-test or delivery of educational material. This increase in student's knowledge must be accompanied by habits of clean and healthy living behavior such as avoiding drugs and having free sex by the students themselves.

Abstract

Burns are one type of wound in which tissue damage occurs due to contact with heat sources such as water, hot fire (liquid), electrical chemicals and radiation. Wound care with natural ingredients has been widely used by the community traditionally. One of the most widely used plants is turmeric, turmeric is used as an anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant antiseptic, anorexia medicine for wounds and liver disorders. Turmeric contains the compound curcumin (Curcuma domestica Val) which can accelerate reepithelialization, cell proliferation, and collagen synthesis. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of turmeric extract on wound healing in grade II burns. This study is a true experimental type of research with a post only test design with control group design which will use two groups, namely the treatment group who will be given wound care with turmeric extract and the control group who will be given standard wound care with NaCl compresses. The results showed that the wound granulated 7 days faster than the control group. The results of statistical tests using Man Whitney showed a significant difference in the duration of granulation wounds in the two groups (p = 0.002 < 0.05). The results showed that the epithelial wound was 7 days faster than the control group. The results of statistical tests using Man Whitney showed that there was a significant difference in the length of the epithelial wound in the two groups (p = 0.018 < 0.05). The results showed that there was no significant difference in the duration of wound reorganization in the turmeric extract plaster and NaCl plaster group (p=0.988 > 0.05). The conclusion in this study was that there was a significant difference in the length of the wound to granulate and epithelialize, but in tissue reorganization, the results were not significant between turmeric extract and NaCl.
