Abstract

This research aims to analyze the result of students' work in finding the solution to math-problems about absolute functions. Commognitive's analysis was used to analyze student works in this qualitative research. This research's methods were, namely, preparing, collecting data, transcription data, and analyzing data. A total of 25 students from two universities were given math questions, and two were selected as research subjects. The selection of subjects is based on different and exciting work results. The research subjects attended in-depth interviews to learn more about the commognitive's components. The results showed that commognitive conflict occurred in the word use component when the subject experienced errors in interpreting the data on the questions. Subjects cannot correctly describe the graphic requested in the questions (visual mediators). Describing what is known in the problem is also incompatible (narratives). Subjects experienced the incorrect routines. Based on the results of in-depth interviews, it can be said that the commognitive conflicts occurred because of a lack of understanding of the concepts.

Abstract

The purpose of this quantitative descriptive study is to ascertain how students' learning outcomes in mathematics are impacted by the availability of learning facilities. In order to increase learning outcomes, the teaching and learning process will be more successful if supported by sufficient facilities, such as proper study tables, additional illumination sources, lighting indications throughout the house, appropriate study chairs, appropriate bookcases, availability of math textbooks and worksheet books, internet access at home, sufficient cell phones, student-owned question banks, and internet use can all support learning activities. Thirty students in all took part, and checklists, questionnaires, and documentation were the instruments utilized to collect data. Descriptive analysis of the learning outcome variable data revealed that 20 students in class XI, or 67.67%, finished with a Minimum Passed Value of 80, whereas 10 students, or 33.33%, were incomplete. Using SPSS, a straightforward linear regression calculation method yielded the following results: Y = 98,793 + 0,590X. The findings of the study demonstrate that student learning outcomes are influenced by the accessibility of learning facilities. For additional study, you can focus on variables other than the availability of learning facilities that affect student learning results.

Abstract

TikTok was one of the fastest-growing social media platforms in Indonesia, particularly among Gen Z and millennials. This article aimed to analyze the role of the TikTok algorithm in shaping content consumption patterns based on gender and age. The study employed a qualitative approach using two main techniques. First, content analysis was conducted on 200 popular videos appearing on the For You Page to identify thematic tendencies. Second, in-depth interviews were carried out with 30 active users in Surabaya (15 women and 15 men), selected purposively based on the intensity of their usage and the diversity of their backgrounds. These findings were complemented with data from two audiences’ insight platforms revealing fluctuating gender distribution among TikTok users in Indonesia. At certain periods, women dominated the user base, while at other times, men accounted for a higher percentage. This dynamic indicated that the TikTok algorithm was responsive not only to individual preferences but also to demographic shifts. The results showed that women were more likely to consume lifestyle, beauty, and aesthetic-related content, whereas men more frequently engaged with humor, sports, and technology. The novelty of this study lay in the finding that Gen Z demonstrated flexibility in crossing gender stereotypes; for instance, women actively engaged with technology content, while men were interested in beauty-related content. Thus, the TikTok algorithm functioned both to reinforce gender- and age-based preferences and to provide space for identity negotiation within the digital cultural sphere. This study contributed to gender, technology, and social media studies in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of the learning environment on the mathematical thinking skills of Phase F.11 students at SMA Hang Tuah 1 Surabaya in the context of matrix material. Mathematical thinking skills are essential abilities that need to be developed in mathematics learning because they relate to students' ability to reason, analyze, and solve problems logically and systematically. However, the results of the observations show that some students still have difficulty understanding the concept of matrices and applying them in problem-solving, which is thought to be caused by suboptimal learning environment factors. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory research method. The research population comprised all students of Phase F.11 at SMA Hang Tuah 1 Surabaya. In contrast, the research sample consisted of 33 students from class F.11.3, selected via simple random sampling. The research instruments consisted of a learning environment questionnaire and a mathematical thinking ability essay test. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression in IBM SPSS Statistics version 26. The results of the study indicate that the learning environment has a positive and significant effect on students' mathematical thinking abilities, with a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05. The regression equation obtained is Y = 34.612 + 0.523X, which means that every one-unit increase in the learning environment score will increase mathematical thinking abilities by 0.523 units. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.541 indicates that the learning environment explains 54.1% of the variation in mathematical thinking abilities, while the remaining 45.9% is explained by other factors outside this study. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the better a student's learning environment —whether at home, school, or in the community —the higher their mathematical thinking skills, particularly in understanding and solving problems involving matrices. Therefore, improving the quality of the learning environment is a crucial factor in supporting successful mathematics learning in high school.
