Abstract

This research aims to analyze the relevance of learning Competence-Based Learning in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, namely towards a healthy life and improving welfare for all.  This research uses qualitative methods to explore the application of CBL in health education and its impact on student health behavior. The results show that a competency-based approach can increase students' understanding of health and well-being, and encourage them to take proactive action in maintaining personal and environmental health. The implementation of CBLA is in line with national education policy which emphasizes the importance of competency development as part of efforts to improve the quality of human resources in Indonesia. Thus, CBLA supports the national education goal of creating individuals who are not only academically intelligent but also have practical skills that can be applied in society. Overall, CBLA makes a significant contribution to the development of competencies needed by students and the workforce, as well as supporting the achievement of broader educational goals. With this approach, education can be more relevant and responsive to the needs of society and the world of work today.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Modern medical education emphasizes not only the mastery of medical knowledge but also the development of higher-order thinking skills (HOTS), including critical thinking, problem solving, and self-directed learning (SDL). To achieve these learning outcomes, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) has become one of the most widely implemented instructional strategies in medical curricula worldwide. This literature-based study aims to systematically examine the contribution of PBL in medical education to the enhancement of students’ HOTS. The Methods was using A comprehensive literature search was conducted through PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar using the keywords “Problem-Based Learning,” “Medical Education,” “Higher-Order Thinking Skills,” “Critical Thinking,” “Problem solving,” and “Self-Directed Learning.” Inclusion criteria consisted of publications from 2015–2025, empirical research, systematic reviews, or literature reviews within the field of medical education. The Results are The findings indicate that PBL in medical education significantly improves critical thinking by fostering analytical and evaluative skills, enhances problem-solving ability through authentic clinical case scenarios, and supports self-directed learning by promoting learner autonomy in identifying study needs and accessing scientific evidence. The success of PBL depends on the quality of case scenarios, the role of tutors as facilitators, and the readiness of students to engage actively in the learning process. The Conclusion is Evidence from the literature highlights that Problem-Based Learning plays a pivotal role in developing higher-order thinking skills among medical students. Integrating PBL systematically into medical curricula—supported by adequate learning resources and trained facilitators—strengthens lifelong learning competencies and prepares students to face the complex challenges of modern healthcare.

Abstract

Household waste management remains a significant challenge in many regions, including rural areas. The low level of environmental literacy among the community, particularly children, is one of the main factors contributing to the lack of awareness regarding the importance of sustainable waste management. This community service program aimed to improve environmental literacy among elementary school students in Citeluk Village, Pandeglang Regency, through an educational and participatory workshop. The program was carried out in two main sessions: an environmental literacy session delivered interactively, and a practical session involving the creation of flower pots from used plastic bottles. The results showed an increase in students’ understanding of types of waste and their environmental impact, as well as basic skills in recycling plastic waste into useful items. Additionally, the activity fostered ecological awareness and creativity in utilizing waste materials. This initiative had a positive impact and has the potential to be further developed as a school- and community-based environmental education model.
