Abstract

Students’ difficulties in understanding the Extraction and Isolation of secondary metabolite compound of (Premna serratifolia Linn) are mainly caused by the improper learning media used by the teacher. By far, the media used in learning hasn’t met the students’ needs as it didn’t present the real process of Extraction and Isolation. This study aimed at developing a valid and a practical learning media. Using 3-D (Define, Design, Develop) model, this study employed questionnaire, interview, direct communication, and measurement as the data collection techniques. The data collection tools were interview guidance, observation sheet, and questionnaire sheet. The results of the validation from material, media, and language experts showed 93,9% valid. Whereas, the results of the practicality from individual try-out was 95,33%, and from small group try-out was 86,39%, and it’s regarded practical. In conclusion, the learning video of Extraction and Isolation of secondary metabolite compound of (Premna serratifolia Linn) is considered valid and practical. Therefore, it is recommended to be used in teaching learning process.Keywords: Extraction, Isolation, Developing 3-D Model, learning video

Abstract

This study aimed to produce a module of basic chemistry teaching skills based on a valid and practical scientific approach. Using an R&D model of 3-D, three out of four stages of material design were employed, they were Define, Design, and Develop stages. The data collection technique used in this study were interviews and indirect communication. The instruments were interview guides, validation questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. The study was obtained : (1) the validity of material aspects was 95% and the validity of media aspects was 97.22% with very valid criteria; (2) the practicality of the module from individual trials was 96% and from the small group trials was 81.06% with very practical criteria. In conclusion, the module of basic chemistry teaching skill based on scientific approach is appropriate to be used in the subject of Basic Ability to Teach Chemistry.

Abstract

Sampah terdiri dua jenis yaitu sampah organik dan anorganik. Kedua jenis sampah tersebut, perlu adanya pengelolaan sehingga tidak menimbulkan dampak negatif terhadap kesehatan masyarakat dan lingkungan. Sampah merupakan sisa aktivitas manusia setiap hari, yang sering kali menjadi penyebab kotornya lingkungan. Akibatnya berbagai permasalahan lingkunganpun bermunculan seperti menyangkut pencemaran tanah, air, udara dan suara. Permasalah ini terjadi akibat masih kurangnya kepedulian dari masyarakat. Usia sekolah dasar merupakan suatu masa bagi anak, diharapkan memperoleh dasar-dasar pengetahuan untuk keberhasilan penyesuaian diri pada kehidupan dewasa dan memperoleh kepentingan tertentu. Prestasi masa kanak-kanak juga memiliki korelasi dengan kesuksessannya pada masa dewasa, sehingga masa ini perlu dimanfaatkan untuk menanamkan dasar-dasar pengetahuan supaya terbentuk suatu kebiasaan yang bermanfaat dimasa dewasa. Oleh karena itu, perlunya kegiatan penyuluhan dan simulasi (cara pemesihan sampah organik dan anorganik) di SDN 32 dan SD Duta Sungai Asam. Adapun jumlah peserta penyuluhan sebanyak 65 siswa SD. Kegiatan ini dilakukan meliputi beberapa tahap yaitu tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap akhir kegiatan. Hasilnya, melalui kegiatan ini siswa-siswa dapat memperoleh pengetahuan dan informasi, dapat mempraktekkan cara memisah sampah organik dan anorganik dengan baik dan benar.

Abstract

Buas-buas  (Premna  serratifolia  Linn)  merupakan  local  content  dari  Kalimantan  Barat dengan  berpotensi  sebagai  tanaman  obat.  Isolasi  komponen  dari  daun  Premna  seratifolia Linn  dilakukan  dengan  maserasi  menggunakan  n-heksana  dan  dilanjutkan  dengan identifikasi  menggunakan  spektrofotometer  GC-MS.  Senyawa  komponen  penyusun  ekstrak n-heksana  daun  Buas-buas  adalah  Neophytadiene  (17,99%),  2-Hexadecene  (3,26%),  2- hexadecen-1-ol  (2,78%),  3,7,11,15-Tetramethyl-2-hexadecen-1-ol  (4,91%),  9,12,15- Octadecatrienoic  acid  (3,76%),  Phytol  (58,05%),  Octadecanal  (2,19%),  Methyl  Ester  Of Ricinoleic Acid (5,22%), dan Oxirane (1,85%).  Kata kunci: Buas-buas (Premna serratifolia Linn), GC-MS

Abstract

Mempawah Hulu, which is predominantly populated by indigenous Dayak Kanayatn tribe, is one of underdeveloped sub-district in Landak Regency. The main issues are in health, education, and economic sectors, for instances: low educated villagers (the majority of the villagers do not graduate from secondary school); urgent clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS); economic condition in the middle to the low category. Therefore, the community service in this area was focused on empowering the community in those problematic sectors. To solve the issues, we heightened public role in society and enforced the authority institution which including Mempawah Hulu Regency Administration along with three local villages authorities and Puskesmas (Public Health Center) Karangan. Through these activities, not only ‘Alert Village’ was activated but also PHBS agents, ‘Alert Village’ agents, Healthy Generation (Genre) ambassador, as well as initiation of ODF hamlet were established. In the education sector, the local library was built which was associated with the establishment of the green school and study group. In the social-economic sector, a catfish cultivation group and chicken boiler cultivation group were formed as well as few entrepreneurs manufacturing products from local commodities. It was expected that the whole initiated programs would be sustainable in three villages, namely Pahokng, Caokng, and Tunang. Keywords: empowerment, alert village, entrepreneurship, Dayak Kanayatn

Abstract

Jelawat fish (Leptobarbus hoevenii) are found in several rivers in Kalimantan and Sumatra. Often encountered obstacles in fish farming is the bacterial disease Aeromonas hydrophila, known as Motile Aeromonas Septicemia (MAS). Treatment of disease can use natural ingredients that function as antimicrobials. Papaya seeds contain antimicrobials; besides that, they also contain secondary metabolites such as phenols, terpenoids, alkaloids, and saponins. The terpenoid group is the main component of papaya seeds and has antibacterial activity. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the best papaya seed extract on the survival of jelawat fish infected with Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria. The treatment in this study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were treatment A (soaking with papaya seed extract at 0 ppm), treatment B (soaking with papaya seed extract at 40 ppm), treatment C (soaking with papaya seed extract at 80 ppm), and treatment D (soaking with papaya seed extract at 120 ppm). The results showed that the administration of papaya seed extract by immersion had a significant effect on the response to high feeding, with an average absolute weight growth value of 1.33 grams, a 100% survival rate, and wound healing in sharks infected with A. hydrophila bacteria starting to normalize or heal. Meanwhile, the water quality observed during the study was quite supportive for the survival of the jelawat, with temperatures ranging from 27–28, dissolved oxygen (DO) ranging from 7-8.7 mg/L, pH ranging from 6.5 to 7.3, and ammonia values from 0.1–0.3 mg/L. Giving 80 ppm through soaking papaya seed extract with jelawat fish is the best.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a comprehensive e-handbook, containing research-based information on the medicinal plant Premna serratifolia as the natural resources of West Kalimantan for high school students. This research used a research and development (R&D) method with an ADDIE model and was conducted in three high schools in West Kalimantan. Research instruments include validation instruments and student response questionnaires. The research data were analyzed using quantitative data analysis. Expert validators in content, media, and language assessed the e-Hanbook, resulting in validation percentages of 85.4% for content, 82.6% for media, and 81.5% for language. The practicality of the e-Hanbook was tested through initial and final field trials, achieving percentages of 80.8% and 87.2% respectively. Consequently, the research suggests that the e-Hanbook on Premna serratifolia medicinal plants is highly suitable and practical for high school students.

Abstract

Abstract. The problem of losing motivation to learn in foster children needs to be addressed immediately. The solution that can be offered to overcome this problem is to increase learning independence through empowerment foster children in an active learning process with learning assistance and peer teaching. This strategy can create conducive environmental conditions for fun learning and provide facilities that support activities to develop the knowledge and skills of foster children. The purpose of this service program is prioritized to support the education of foster children, especially in learning independence. The service program will be carried out for 2 months through five activities, (1) Motivate to learn (2) Training on learning assistance and peer teaching methods (3) Understanding the material, (4) Group learning activities, and (5) Evaluation. The results shows that the community service activities have succeeded in increasing the learning independence of foster children with an average of 14.16%. Abstrak. Kurangnya personil pengasuh dan hilangnya motivasi belajar pada anak asuh menjadi permasalahan yang perlu segera ditangani. Solusi yang dapat ditawarkan untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini adalah meningkatkan kemandirian melalui penerapan konsep pemberdayaan yang melibatkan anak asuh dalam proses belajar secara aktif dengan strategi asistensi belajar dan tutor sebaya. Strategi ini dapat menciptakan kondisi lingkungan yang kondusif untuk belajar yang menyenangkan dan menyediakan fasilitas yang menunjang kegiatan-kegiatan untuk mengembangkan pengetahuan serta keterampilan anak asuh. Tujuan program pengabdian ini diprioritaskan untuk menunjang pendidikan anak asuh, terutama dalam hal kemandirian belajar. Program pengabdian akan dilaksanakan selama 2 bulan melalui lima kegiatan, yaitu: (1) Pemberian motivasi belajar untuk anak asuh (2) Pelatihan metode asistensi belajar dan tutor sebaya (3) Pendalaman materi, (4) Kegiatan belajar kelompok, dan (5) Evaluasi. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi, diketahui kegiatan pengabdian yang telah dilakukan berhasil meningkatkan kemandirian belajar anak asuh dengan rata-rata sebesar 14,16%.

Abstract

The low critical thinking skills in chemistry learning is an issue that requires special attention from teachers. These skills are crucial for preparing a generation capable of competing globally and directly impacting student learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the effect of the project-based learning model on global warming material on the critical thinking skills of high school students. This quantitative study employs a quasi-experimental research design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The population of this study consists of 62 students from class X Science at SMAIT AI-Fityan Kubu Raya. Through the purposive sampling technique, class X B, which consists of 33 students, was selected as the sample. Pretest-posttest questions were used as data collection tools to assess students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes, while observation sheets were used to evaluate student activities during the learning process. Data analysis involved normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired sample T-tests, and n-gain analysis. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills, based on the average pretest score of 46.5, increased to 89.90 in the posttest, with the percentage increase generated by the PjBL model being 92.67%. Therefore, PjBL is very effective as a learning model to improve students' critical thinking skills on global warming.

Abstract

The teaching media that a teacher uses can have an impact on the comprehension and memory of the students. Chemical bonding material is one of the learning resources that educators are encouraged to employ to assist and promote more creative, engaging, and enjoyable learning experiences. Chemistry Edutainment media is one type of educational resource that can be employed. This study attempts to characterize student learning retention following chemistry lessons using chemistry edutainment on chemical bond material for class X MAN 3 Pontianak, as well as to ascertain the validity, practicality, and efficacy of chemistry edutainment media. The methods of measurement, observation, and interviewing are employed in the data collection process. Student learning outcomes assessments, observation sheets, and interview sheets were the instruments utilized to collect the data. The study employs the ADDIE method, yielding validation rates of 93.3% for the material aspect and 90.6% for the media aspect. These percentages denote a high level of validity. The practicality percentages, derived from the initial and main field trial questionnaire responses, are 87.17% and 94.03%, respectively, indicating a high degree of practicality. Moreover, the effectiveness analysis, based on the learning outcomes following the use of Chemistry Edutainment media, resulted in N-Gain scores of 0.92 and 0.71 for the initial and main field trials, respectively, meeting the high effectiveness criteria. The retention percentages obtained in the initial and main field trials are 75% and 89.97%, respectively, which meet the high retention criteria.
