Abstract

Tomatoes contain lycopene which is an antioxidant. Antioxidant preparations can be made in the form of a cream with components of an oil phase, a water phase and an emulsifier. Emulsifiers that can be used are triethanolamine (TEA) and stearic acid. This study aims to determine the effect of triethanolamine and stearic acid as emulsifiers on the physical quality and mechanical stability of tomatoes extract cream. The use of triethanolamine and stearic acid with a ratio of 2%:5%; 3%:10%; 4%:15%. The test are the physical characteristics of tomatoes extract cream included organoleptic, homogeneity, cream type, pH, viscosity, spreadability, adhesion, protection and mechanical stability using the centrifugation method. The results of the phytochemical screening of tomatoes extract were positive for triterpenoids. The test results of the three cream formulas are odorless, semi-solid form, light orange to white color, homogeneous, cream type M/A, pH 5.25 - 6.26; viscosity 5,376 cP - 14,370 cP, spreadability 4 - 5,067 cm, adhesion 4 - 11.6 seconds, protection power 2 - 5.2 seconds. The three cream formulas did not undergo phase separation. The higher concentration of TEA and stearic acid had an effect on viscosity, pH value, adhesion, dispersibility and protection, but had no effect on organoleptic, homogeneity, cream type, and stability. tomatoes extract cream with a concentration of TEA:stearic acid 2%:5% gave the best physical quality.

Abstract

Damage to the skin can be caused by free radicals that come from sun exposure. Skin needs antioxidants to neutralize free radicals. Plants that have natural antioxidant power include pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata D.) which contains flavonoids. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the physical quality and mechanical stability of hand and body lotion preparations of pumpkin extract and antioxidant activity in the category of inhibitory concentration value (IC50). The laboratory research method used is the experimental method. The preparations were made in three formulas with different extract concentrations, namely 2,2%, 3,2% and 4,2%. Antioxidant activity test was carried out using the ABTS method. The results of the preparation evaluation were the value of viscosity (9.367-20.173 cP), pH 7, emulsion type (O/W), spreadability (4,5-7,7 cm), adhesion power (2,567-4,667 seconds), protection power (2,933 – 3,807 seconds) and in the mechanical stability test did not experience phase separation. The IC50 value of pumpkin extract obtained a value of 67,07 ppm (strong), formula I 84,05 ppm (strong), formula II 73,96 (strong), formula III 68,5 ppm (strong). Pumpkin extract hand and body lotion has good physical quality and mechanical stability and has strong antioxidant activity. ABSTRAK Kerusakan pada kulit dapat disebabkan karena adanya radikal bebas yang bersumber dari paparan sinar matahari. Kulit membutuhkan antioksidan untuk menetralkan radikal bebas. Tanaman yang mempunyai daya antioksidan alami antara lain labu kuning (Cucurbita moschata D.) dengan kandungan flavonoid. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk melakukan evaluasi mutu fisik dan stabilitas mekanik sediaan hand and body lotion ekstrak labu kuning serta aktivitas antioksidan dalam kategori nilai inhibitory concentration (IC50). Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode eksperimental laboratorium. Sediaan dibuat dalam tiga formula dengan perbedaan konsentrasi ekstrak yaitu 2,2%, 3,2% dan 4,2%. Uji aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan menggunakan metode ABTS. Hasil evaluasi sediaan yaitu nilai viskositas (9.367-20.173 cP), pH 7, tipe emulsi (M/A), daya sebar (4,5-7,7 cm), daya lekat (2,567-4,667 detik), daya proteksi (2,933-3,807 detik) dan pada uji stabilitas mekanik tidak mengalami pemisahan fase. Nilai IC50 ekstrak labu kuning diperoleh nilai 67,07 ppm (kuat), formula I  84,05 ppm (kuat), formula II 73,96 (kuat), formula III 68,5 ppm (kuat). Hand and body lotion ekstrak labu kuning memiliki mutu fisik dan stabilitas mekanik yang baik serta mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan dengan kategori kuat.

Abstract

Karamunting (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa) merupakan tumbuhan yang banyak terdapat di Indonesia. Daun karamunting banyak dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat karena dapat digunakan sebagai obat alami salah satunya digunakan masyarakat sebagai obat luka. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memformulasi sediaan krim ekstrak daun karamunting dan mengetahui mutu fisik serta stabilitas mekaniknya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan kombinasi emulgator asam stearat pada konsentrasi 6%, 8%, 10% dan trietanolamin dengan konsentrasi 2%, 3% 4%. Uji mutu fisik pada sediaan krim meliputi uji organoleptik, homogenitas, tipe krim, pH, daya sebar, viskositas dan stabilitas mekanik. Hasil uji organoleptik ketiga formula krim ekstrak daun karamunting memiliki warna hijau, aroma khas ekstrak, tekstur lembut. Ketiga sediaan krim homogen dan tipe krim minyak dalam air (M/A). Hasil mutu fisik sediaan krim formula 1 - 3 yaitu nilai pH 5,39; 5,42; 5,43; daya sebar 5,4; 4,7; 4,5 cm; viskositas 9.336; 9.648; 10.320 cP. Hasil uji stabilitas mekanik, formula 1 terjadi pemisahan fase, formula 2 dan 3 tidak menunjukkan pemisahan fase.

Abstract

Women experience pain that varies in intensity for each individual. Menstrual pain can be treated using pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy. The use of therapy for dysmenorrhea can improve the quality of life of sufferers. The Pharmacy Study Program at Ngudi Waluyo University is dominated by female students where menstrual pain will be an obstacle that affects their academic and daily activities. The aim of this study was to determine the attitudes and behavior of students from the Pharmacy Study Program at Ngudi Waluyo University when experiencing primary dysmenorrhea and to assess the strength of the correlation between the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain and therapy. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis with simple random sampling data collection techniques. Data was analyzed using the SPSS 25 statistical application. Based on the data obtained, 27.11% of respondents used therapy, and 72.89% of respondents did not use therapy. Reducing the pain intensity of primary dysmenorrhea has a correlation of 0.520 (moderate) with the use of therapy. Based on statistical tests on academic activities (sig. 0.006) and daily activities (sig. 0.000) which shows that there is an influence of primary dysmenorrhea on the academic and daily activities of respondents, but it has a weak correlation, namely 0.212 and 0.306 respectively. The use of therapy can reduce the intensity of pain in primary dysmenorrhea, however, many do not use therapy when experiencing primary dysmenorrhea and primary dysmenorrhea affects the respondents' academic and daily activities.   ABSTRAK Perempuan mengalami nyeri haid dengan intensitas yang berbeda pada setiap individu. Nyeri haid dapat diatasi menggunakan terapi farmakologi maupun non farmakologi.  Penggunaan terapi pada dismenore dapat meningkatkan kualitas hidup penderita. Prodi Farmasi Universitas Ngudi Waluyo didominasi oleh mahasiswi dimana nyeri haid akan menjadi kendala yang mempengaruhi aktivitas akademik maupun kesehariannya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sikap dan perilaku mahasiswi Prodi Farmasi Universitas Ngudi Waluyo ketika mengalami dismenore primer dan menilai kekuatan korelasi intensitas nyeri dismenore terhadap terapi. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif dengan teknik pengambilan data simple random sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan aplikasi statistik SPSS 25. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, sebanyak 27,11% responden menggunakan terapi, dan 72,89% responden tidak menggunakan terapi. Penurunan intensitas nyeri dismenore primer mempunyai korelasi 0,520 (moderate) dengan penggunaan terapi. Berdasarkan uji statistik pada aktivitas akademik (sig. 0,006) dan aktivitas keseharian (sig. 0,000) yang menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh dismenore primer terhadap kegiatan akademik dan keseharian respoden, namun mempunyai korelasi yang lemah, yaitu masing-masing 0,212 dan 0,306. Penggunaan terapi dapat menurunkan intensitas nyeri pada dismenore primer, akan tetapi banyak yang tidak menggunakan terapi ketika mengalami dismenore primer dan dismenore primer mempengaruhi kegiatan akademik dan keseharian responden.

Abstract

The spread of diseases caused by mosquito bites can be overcome by providing larvicides in water reservoirs. Avocado seed extract has been proven as a natural larvicide. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of avocado seed extract concentration on the physical characteristics of sand granules and the mortality of mosquito larvae. Sand granules were made using the wet granulation method with extract concentrations of 1% (F1) and 2% (F2). Tests included organoleptic, water content, particle size distribution, flow time, flow rate, angle of repose, and dissolution time. The treatment group was Abate® positive control, tap water negative control, 37.5 mg extract, 75 mg extract, 6 preparations from FI and FII with variations in the amount of sand granules of 1.25 g, 2.5 g, and 3.75 g. The organoleptic results were granules, cream-colored, and odorless. The dominant particle distribution was 250 µm. The water content of both formulas was 2.29%, flow time was 1.92 and 1.87 seconds; Flow rates of 53.47 and 54.55 g/s, angle of repose of 30.22° and 30.06°. Dissolution time of 63.47 and 64.93 seconds. Mortality of negative control larvae was 0%, positive control and 75 mg extract had the same results, namely 100%, 37.5 mg extract and 3.75 grams of FII granules were > 80%, the other groups ranged from 20.5 to 76.9%. The results of statistical analysis stated that the concentration of avocado seed extract did not affect the physical characteristics of sand granules. The concentration of extract and the number of sand granules affected the mortality of mosquito larvae.   ABSTRAK Penyebaran penyakit karena gigitan nyamuk dapat diatasi dengan memberikan larvasida di penampungan air. Ekstrak biji alpukat telah terbukti sebagai larvasida alami. Tujuan penelitian mengevaluasi pengaruh konsentrasi ekstrak biji alpukat terhadap karakteristik fisik sand granules dan mortalitas larva nyamuk. Pembuatan sand granules menggunakan metode granulasi basah dengan konsentrasi ekstrak 1% (F1) dan 2% (F2). Pengujian meliputi organoleptis, kadar air, distribusi ukuran partikel, waktu alir, kecepatan alir, sudut istirahat, waktu melarut. Kelompok perlakukan kontrol positif Abate®, kontrol negatif air ledeng, ekstrak 37,5 mg, ekstrak 75 mg, 6 sediaan dari FI dan FII dengan variasi jumlah sand granules sebesar 1,25 g, 2,5 g, dan 3,75 g. Hasil organoleptis berbentuk granul, berwarna krem, dan tidak berbau. Distribusi partikel dominan berukuran 250 µm. Kadar air kedua formula 2,29%, waktu alir 1,92 dan 1,87 detik; kecepatan alir 53,47 dan 54,55 g/s, sudut istirahat 30,22° dan 30,06°. Waktu melarut 63,47 dan 64,93 detik. Mortalitas larva kontrol negatif 0%, kontrol positif dan ekstrak 75 mg hasilnya sama yaitu 100%, ekstrak 37,5 mg dan granul FII 3,75 gram > 80%, kelompok yang lain berkisar 20,5-76,9%. Hasil analisis statistik menyatakan konsentrasi ekstrak biji alpukat tidak berpengaruh terhadap karakteristik fisik sand granules. Konsentrasi ekstrak dan jumlah sand granules berpengaruh pada mortalitas larva nyamuk.
