Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Encapsulated Extract of Andrographis paniculata Leaves (EEOAPL), dried using the foam mat drying method and administered through drinking water, on the performance and carcass quality of broiler chickens. A total of 100 day-old broiler chicks were reared for five weeks in an open-house system using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments: A0 (commercial feed without extract), A1 (basal feed without extract), A2 (basal feed + 0.4% EEDS), A3 (basal feed + 0.8% EEDS), and A4 (basal feed + 1.2% EEDS). Each treatment was replicated four times with five birds per replicate. The results showed that final body weight ranged from 1503.25 g to 1896.50 g per bird, carcass percentage from 68.26% to 72.49%, abdominal fat from 1.435% to 1.553%, and performance index from 292.61 to 397.68. Statistical analysis revealed that EEDS supplementation had a highly significant effect (P<0.05) on final body weight, carcass percentage, and performance index, but no significant effect (P>0.05) on abdominal fat.

Abstract

Background: Pandan wangi leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius) contain bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins which have antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.  Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of adding pandan wangi leaf infusion to drinking water on the weight and percentage of liver, heart, spleen, intestine length and intestine weight of broilers. Methods: This research used 100 broiler chickens without sex separation which were randomly divided into 20 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 5 chickens. Chickens were kept for 4 weeks, and data collection was carried out in week 4 at harvest. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with 4 treatments of pandan wangi leaf infusion in drinking water and with 5 replications. Each treatment was: P0: without adding pandan wangi leaf infusion, P1: adding 1% pandan wangi leaf infusion in water. drinking, P2: adding 2% pandan wangi leaf infusion to drinking water, and P3: adding 3% pandan wangi leaf infusion to drinking water. Results: The results showed that the treatment of adding pandan wangi leaf infusion to drinking water had a significant effect on spleen weight (P<0.05). The results of the study showed that the treatment of adding pandan wangi leaf infusion to drinking water had no significant effect (P>0.05) on liver, heart, intestine length and intestine weight of broilers. Conclusion: Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that the physiological response of broilers to give pandan wangi leaf infusion in drinking water has a significant effect on spleen weight (P<0.05), but has no significant effect on liver, heart, intestine weight and intestine length (P> 0.05). The addition of pandan wangi leaf infusion up to 3% in drinking water can be tolerated on the weight of liver, heart, intestines and intestine length of broilers

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the influence of Miana leaf (ML)-based eco-enzyme onthe  performance and liver percentage inbroilers. This research used a completely randomized design. 200-day-old broilers (DOC) were randomly divided into 4 treatments and 5 replications, with each replicate consisting of 10 chickens. The four treatments were: A (0% eco-enzyme based on ML), B (2% eco-enzyme based on ML), C (4% eco-enzyme based on ML), D (6% eco-enzyme based on ML) which is supplemented by drinking water. The parameters measured were feed consumption, average daily gain (ADG), feedconversion ratio (FCR) and liverpercentage. The results obtained showed that supplemented ML significantly (P<0,05) affected  ADG. The supplementation of ML based eco enzyme did not have a significant effect  (P>0,05) on feed consumption,  feed conversion ratio and liver percentage.  The supplementation of ML based eco enzyme could be tolerated up to 6% in drinking water of broilers.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of fermented kacang tujuh jurai (seven-branched peanut) leaf (DKTJF) supplementation in drinking water on the performance of broiler chickens, and to determine the most effective inclusion level. The leaves are known to contain various bioactive compounds, including alkaloids, terpenoids, flavonoids, steroids, saponins, phenolic compounds, and pheromones. The experiment was carried out over three months at the Nutrition and Feed Technology, Animal Production, Quality Testing, and Analysis Laboratories of the Payakumbuh State Agricultural Polytechnic. The materials used for preparing the treatment solution included 2 kg of fermented kacang tujuh jurai, 1 liter of EM4, 1 liter of molasses, and water. The materials used for broiler maintenance included day-old chicks (DOC), DKTJF, corn, soybean meal, minerals, coconut oil, fish meal, rice bran, and commercial feed. The equipment used for the treatment application included cages divided into 20 units (0.5 m × 0.5 m). A completely randomized design (CRD) was used, consisting of five treatment groups with four replications each, totaling 20 experimental units. Each unit contained four day-old chicks (DOC), resulting in a total of 80 broiler chickens. The treatments included DKTJF in the drinking water at 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% levels. Observed parameters included body weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio (FCR), water intake, and broiler performance index. The results showed that DKTJF supplementation significantly (P<0.05) affected body weight gain and water intake, but had no significant effect (P>0.05) on feed intake, FCR, or performance index. In conclusion, supplementation of up to 2% DKTJF in drinking water did not alter feed efficiency or overall performance, but it improved growth and reduced water consumption. The optimal inclusion level was identified at 1.5%.
