Abstract

Lifestyle changes among elementary school students have become increasingly evident alongside the rapid development of digital technology in daily life. Generation Alpha children are growing up in environments in which the use of smartphones, tablets, digital television, and various screen-based media is pervasive. This condition has gradually influenced children’s physical activity patterns and increased their tendency toward sedentary behavior. This study aimed to analyze the relationships among physical activity, screen time, and digital lifestyle with the physical endurance of elementary school students through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Articles were retrieved from the Google Scholar, Scopus, ERIC, and PubMed databases using the PRISMA protocol. Following the selection process, 19 relevant articles published between 2010 and 2025 were included. The review findings indicate that high screen time is associated with low physical activity, increased sedentary behavior, declining physical fitness, disrupted sleep patterns, and diminished physical endurance in children. Furthermore, family environment, digital culture, and Physical Education (PE) instruction at school also influence the movement habits of elementary school students. These findings suggest that the physical fitness crisis among Generation Alpha is a multidimensional issue that necessitates the involvement of schools, families, and the social environment in cultivating an active lifestyle among children.

Abstract

Abstracts: Physical fitness is an important indicator of health and physical performance that enables individuals to perform daily activities efficiently without excessive fatigue. Exercise physiology provides scientific knowledge regarding the body's responses and adaptations to physical activity and training programs. This study aimed to examine the role of exercise physiology in improving physical fitness through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Literature was collected from Google Scholar using the Publish or Perish application with the keywords "Sport Physiology" and "Physical Fitness" for publications between 2021 and 2026. A total of 976 articles were initially identified, and after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria based on the PRISMA framework, 10 relevant articles were selected for review. The findings indicate that exercise physiology contributes to improvements in cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition, energy metabolism, and recovery processes. Regular and structured physical training promotes physiological adaptations that enhance overall fitness and athletic performance. The review concludes that exercise physiology serves as a fundamental scientific basis for designing effective training programs aimed at improving physical fitness and maintaining long-term health.

Abstract

Physical fitness at school age is important to describe students' physiological readiness for activities, learning, and carrying out daily activities. This study aims to describe the physical fitness profile of students at SMAN 5 Jambi City based on the perspective of exercise physiology and to compare profile trends by gender. The study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Secondary data were obtained from measurements of body mass index (BMI), V Sit and Reach flexibility, 60-second Sit Up, 30-second Squat Thrust , and cardiorespiratory endurance using the PACER Test . The sample consisted of 20 students, namely 13 females and 7 males. Analysis was conducted descriptively using the mean, standard deviation, range, and distribution of categories. The results showed that most students had good nutritional status, good flexibility, adequate abdominal muscle endurance, and very good dynamic movement abilities. However, cardiorespiratory endurance was still low, with the largest proportion in the very low and low categories. In conclusion, students' flexibility and dynamic movement were classified as good, but cardiorespiratory endurance needs to be a priority for physical learning interventions

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of JPOK students at the University of Jambi regarding the sport of pickleball. The research employed a quantitative descriptive approach using a closed questionnaire consisting of 30 statement items as the research instrument. The population in this study consisted of 250 JPOK students from the 2025 cohort at the University of Jambi, with a sample of 50 students selected using a simple random sampling technique. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis with the assistance of SPSS software. The results of the study indicate that the overall level of knowledge of JPOK students at the University of Jambi regarding pickleball is in the moderate category. This is shown by a mean score of 52.07, with a minimum score of 30 and a maximum score of 73. The distribution of knowledge levels shows that 0% (0 students) are in the very low category, 12% (6 students) are in the low category, 76% (38 students) are in the moderate category, 12% (6 students) are in the high category, and 0% (0 students) are in the very high category. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the level of knowledge of JPOK students from the 2025 cohort at the University of Jambi regarding pickleball is categorized as moderate, with a mean score of 52.07. These results indicate that students’ understanding of the basic concepts, techniques, rules, applications, analysis, and evaluation of pickleball games still needs to be improved through learning activities, socialization programs, and hands-on practice within the university environment.
