Abstract

Education is one of the main means of character building, which aims to prepare students to become individuals who are not only intelligent but also have integrity and social responsibility. Previous research has discussed the integration of local wisdom in education, but few have focused on how the values of Sundanese customary law can specifically shape the character of university students. This study aims to fill that gap by examining how these values are interpreted, lived, and transformed into behavioral attitudes among students of IPI Garut. This study aims to explore the implications of Sundanese customary law values in shaping the character of students at Institut Pendidikan Indonesia (IPI) Garut. The research employed a quantitative associative-correlational design to determine the relationship between the understanding of Sundanese customary values and student character. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 316 respondents and analyzed using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression with SPSS 30 software. The findings revealed that Sundanese customary law has a positive and significant effect on character formation (r = 0.478; p < 0.001; R² = 0.229), meaning that 22.9% of the variation in student character can be explained by the understanding and application of customary law values. These values, including silih asah, silih asih, and silih asuh, are reflected in moral attitudes, social responsibility, and academic integrity. The study concludes that integrating Sundanese customary law into higher education can strengthen contextual character education rooted in local wisdom and cultural identity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze parents' and teachers' perceptions of the readiness of early childhood education (ECE) schools during the transition period from ECE to elementary school (ES). The approach is descriptive and quantitative, with correlation analysis. The research population consists of parents of ECE and first-grade elementary school students, as well as ECE and first-grade elementary school teachers in Bandung City, West Java. Data were collected from 364 parents and 112 teachers. The research instrument is a Likert-scale questionnaire (1-5) covering aspects of child readiness, parent readiness, teacher roles, home routines, and school communication. Data analysis includes frequency distributions, percentages, means, standard deviations, distribution patterns, and skewness. The analysis results show an average (M) parent perception of 4.0 with a standard deviation of 0.87, and an average teacher perception of 4.31 with a standard deviation of 0.61. There are significant relationships of 0.81 between child readiness and parent readiness, and of 0.74 between parent readiness and perceptions of teacher roles. These findings emphasize the importance of collaboration between parents and schools in supporting children's school readiness.

Abstract

The prevalence of bullying behavior in elementary schools poses a significant threat to the development of students’ assertiveness, a vital component in fostering self-confidence and social resilience. This study seeks to examine the correlation between bullying incidents and the assertiveness development of students through a comprehensive literature review and an empirical case study involving sixth-grade students at SDN 1 Regol. Utilizing qualitative and quantitative methods including classroom observations, structured interviews, and questionnaires the findings reveal that the majority of students exhibit moderate levels of both bullying involvement and assertiveness. Notably, students subjected to higher levels of bullying tend to demonstrate lower assertiveness, while those with higher assertive capacities are more capable of articulating opinions and resisting unfair treatment. These results underscore the importance of assertiveness as a protective factor against bullying and advocate for its systematic cultivation through educational and character-building interventions from an early age. These findings affirm that enhancing students’ assertiveness can serve as an effective preventive strategy to reduce bullying in elementary school settings.Perilaku bullying yang marak terjadi di sekolah dasar berpotensi menurunkan kemampuan asertif siswa, yang sebenarnya sangat dibutuhkan dalam mengembangkan kepercayaan diri dan ketahanan sosial. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara tindakan bullying dan perkembangan asertivitas siswa melalui tinjauan literatur serta studi kasus di kelas VI SDN 1 Regol. Penelitian yang dilakukan melakukan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, wawancara, dan angket, ditemukan bahwa mayoritas siswa berada pada tingkat sedang dalam hal perundungan dan asertivitas, dengan kecenderungan bahwa siswa yang mengalami perundungan tinggi memiliki tingkat asertivitas rendah. Sebaliknya, siswa dengan kemampuan asertif tinggi lebih mampu mengekspresikan pendapat dan menolak perlakuan tidak adil. Kajian menunjukkan bahwa asertivitas berperan penting dalam membentuk ketahanan siswa terhadap perundungan, sehingga perlu dikembangkan melalui pendekatan edukatif dan karakter sejak dini. Hasil ini menegaskan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan asertif siswa dapat menjadi strategi preventif yang efektif dalam menurunkan tingkat perundungan di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

The research was conducted because of the high number of cases of children experiencing the absence of a father figure, both physically and psychologically, especially in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the academic resilience experiences of fatherless students in the upper grades of elementary school. The method used is a qualitative case study with the subjects being fatherless students, 5th and 6th-grade teachers, and student parents. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews and documentation. The research results indicate that students exhibit differences in building their academic resilience through perseverance, openness to seeking help, and varying ways of managing negative emotions. The main supporting factors are the roles of mothers, teachers, and a supportive social environment. This research is expected to serve as a reference for educators and parents in supporting fatherless students.Penelitian dilakukan karena banyaknya kasus anak yang mengalami ketiadaan peran ayah secara fisik maupun psikologis terutama di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengalaman resiliensi akademik siswa fatherless di kelas tinggi sekolah dasar. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kasus kualitatif dengan subjek siswa fatherless, guru kelas V dan VI, serta orang tua siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi terstruktur dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa menunjukkan adanya perbedaan dalam membangun resiliensi akademiknya melalui sikap pantang menyerah, keterbukaan mencari bantuan, dan cara yang berbeda dalam mengelola emosi negatif. Faktor pendukung utama adalah peran ibu, guru, dan lingkungan sosial yang suportif. Penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi rujukan bagi pendidik dan orang tua dalam mendukung siswa fatherless.

Abstract

The study was conducted to determine the role of the principal in improving the quality of school management at SDS Muhammadiyah 2 Garut. This study is entitled Analysis of the Role of the Principal in Improving the Quality of School Management at SDS Muhammadiyah 2 Garut. This study aims to analyze the role of the principal in improving the quality of school management at SDS Muhammadiyah 2 Garut. The subjects of this study were the principal, teachers, administrative staff and parents of students. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. Data collection techniques in this study were through observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of the study, it shows that: (1) The strategic role of the principal as a result of the study, namely as: manager, motivator, supervisor, innovator, administrator, leader and educator by providing support and guidance to teachers to improve the quality of learning. (2) Improving the quality of school management by implementing school program planning, vision, mission and school goals, developing teacher performance, guiding teachers, motivating teachers and students and managing school facilities and infrastructure resources.Kepala sekolah merupakan pemimpin pendidikan yang bertugas dan bertanggung jawab mengembangkan mutu sekolah. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan mutu manajemen sekolah di SDS Muhammadiyah 2 Garut. Merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan diskriptif analitik, penelitian yang bermaksud untuk memehami fenomena tentang apa yang dialami oleh subjek penelitian Subjek penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah, guru, staf administrasi dan orang tua siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data kualitatif dilakukan secara interaktif dan berlangsung secara terus menerus sampai mendapatkan hasil yang tuntas dan lengkap. Adapun langkah-langkah dalam tekhnik triangulasi yaitu pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: (1) Peran strategis kepala sekolah hasil penelitian, yaitu sebagai: manager, motivator, supervisor, inovator, administrator, leader dan educator dengan memberikan dukungan dan bimbingan kepada guru untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran. (2) Meningkatkan mutu manajemen sekolah dengan melaksanakan perencanaan program sekolah, visi, misi dan tujuan sekolah, mengembangkan kinerja guru, membimbing guru, memotivasi guru dan siswa serta mengelola sumber daya sarana dan prasarana sekolah.
