Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengetahui proses pelaksanaan budaya Pikoela Liwu (2) Untuk mengetahui mengapa budaya Pikoela Liwu masih tetap dipertahankan dan dilaksanakan oleh masyarakat Kelurahan Takimpo Kecamatan Pasarwajo Kabupaten Buton (3) dan Untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh modernisasi terhadap budaya Pikoela Liwu. Sumber data penelitian ini menggunakan data primer yaitu data melalui kegiatan observasi, wawancara guna menjawab permasalahan penelitian dan data sekunder yaitu data yang berupa catatan-catatan dan dokumentasi tentang keadaan geografis lokasi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang di gunakan adalah wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Untuk teknik penentuan informan digunakan snowball sampling. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu analisis model interaktif yang menggunakan tiga tahapan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Budaya Pikoela Liwu dilaksanakan selama delapan hari yang dimulai dari Pihatoa, doa bersama, Piganda’a, Poandea, penyembelihan Kambing, Kabhincingi, Wheano Bhobha, Tadhea, dan Ponarhe. This study aims to understand the implementation process of the Pikoela Liwu tradition, explore the reasons for its preservation, and analyze the impact of modernization on this tradition in Takimpo Village, Buton Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing primary data collected through observations and in-depth interviews with informants selected via snowball sampling, along with secondary data from related documentation. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive analysis model, involving data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion verification. The findings reveal that the Pikoela Liwu tradition is carried out over eight days, featuring a series of rituals including communal prayers, animal sacrifices, the installation of cultural attributes, and traditional dances. The continuity of this tradition is supported by strong community solidarity, ideological resistance to change, and reverence for ancestral cultural values. Modernization has influenced certain aspects, such as population migration, the use of modern materials for traditional house roofs, the shortened duration of rituals, and the replacement of traditional beverages with commercial products. Despite these changes, the tradition remains significant as a symbol of cultural and spiritual identity for the community. This study provides insights into the dynamics of cultural preservation amidst modernization challenges, contributing to the understanding of local cultural sustainability in the era of globalization.

This program was conducted at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Halu Oleo University, to address challenges in scientific writing, particularly in reference management, academic ethics, and citation formatting. Students often struggled with these issues, hindering their ability to write quality academic papers. The program aimed to equip students with skills to organize references, compile bibliographies, and apply citation formats using Mendeley. The program’s success was reflected in a 40% improvement in reference management skills, a 45% increase in Mendeley usage, and a 35% improvement in understanding academic ethics. Additionally, students’ ability to correctly format citations and compile bibliographies improved by 45%. Final-year students showed substantial progress, enhancing their academic writing capabilities. These results highlight the importance of integrating Mendeley training into the curriculum, and it is recommended that such training be regularly incorporated into research methodology courses to foster long-term academic success.

This study investigates the Mataano Mambio harvest ritual practiced by the Laporo ethnic community in Kombeli Subdistrict, Buton Regency, focusing on its ritual structure, symbolic meanings, and cultural significance. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive design, employing in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation conducted between January and March 2024. A total of 12 informants were selected using snowball sampling. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal that Mataano Mambio unfolds through a structured series of ritual events: beginning with Piharoaano Galampa (customary deliberation), followed by Bata Nda’a and Linda dances, Sungkuano Sadakaa (ritual prayer), Sumbele’a Bembe (goat sacrifice), the central Mataano Mambio ceremony, and concluding with Manca and Panguncei performances. Each element embodies symbolic meanings rooted in Laporo cosmology—such as humility, interdependence, ancestral reverence, and ethical trade. Interpreted through the lenses of cultural resilience theory, symbolic anthropology, and glocalization, the ritual functions as a living system of knowledge transmission and socio-ecological adaptation. The study contributes to cultural studies by demonstrating how indigenous rituals operate not only as cultural heritage but also as dynamic frameworks for sustaining identity, resilience, and collective memory amid social change.

Aktivitas industri penambangan batu di Kecamatan Moramo Utara, Kabupaten Konawe Selatan, menjadi penopang pertumbuhan ekonomi dalam membuka lapangan pekerjaan dan menambah pendapatan masyarakat setempat, namun menghadirkan tantangan serius terhadap ekologi dan kehidupan sosial masyarakat setempat. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk menggali strategi mitigasi risiko ekologis dan sosial melalui penerapan prinsip Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) dengan fokus utama pada integrasi kearifan lokal. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi lapangan, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dibutuhkan penerapan analisis Dampak lingkungan agar dapat mengurangi penggunaan sumber daya alam dan pencemaran lingkungan, sedangkan praktik kearifan lokal dibutuhkan dalam membantu memperkuat legitimasi sosial serta mempercepat rehabilitasi lahan pascatambang. Kendati demikian, implementasi strategi tersebut masih terhambat oleh lemahnya regulasi, rendahnya partisipasi masyarakat, dan belum optimalnya penerapan prinsip Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa kolaborasi multisektor yang menggabungkan penambangan memperhatihkan lingkungan berkelanjutan, kebijakan partisipatif, dan nilai lokal sangat penting dalam mewujudkan tambang batu yang adil dan berkelanjutan di Moramo Utara

This study aims to explore the role of Corporate Social Responsibility in enhancing the quality of vocational education through industry-education collaboration, particularly in improving students' digital skills and carCorporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is increasingly promoted as a mechanism to support educational development, yet empirical explanations of how CSR generates educational outcomes in vocational contexts remain limited. This study examines how CSR-driven technology interventions contribute to educational transformation through a qualitative case study of SMK Forward Nusantara Depok, Indonesia. Drawing on Creating Shared Value and Human Capital theories, the study proposes a CSR-Driven Educational Transformation Model to explain the link between CSR inputs and learning outcomes. A theory-informed single-case design was employed, using semi-structured interviews with corporate representatives, school leaders, and students, supported by observation and document analysis. Data were analyzed thematically to examine pathways related to technology access, pedagogical change, digital competency development, and career readiness. The findings show that CSR interventions improved digital infrastructure and enabled more applied, industry-relevant learning practices, contributing to enhanced digital skills and career readiness. However, the study also highlights boundary conditions, including sustainability risks, ethical concerns, and institutional readiness. Overall, this study provides a process-based contribution to CSR and vocational education literature and offers practical insights for designing sustainable CSR-education partnerships.

This study examines the impact of the Meleura Tourism Site on employment opportunities, income levels, and community welfare in Lakarinta Village, Lohia District, Muna Regency. Although tourism development is often linked to local economic improvement, empirical evidence at the village level, particularly in coastal tourism areas, remains limited. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that tourism development has expanded employment in service and trade sectors and significantly increased household income. Average daily earnings rose from approximately IDR 30,000–50,000 before 2021 to IDR 150,000–300,000 during normal tourism seasons, with higher income during peak periods. Tourist arrivals increased steadily from 2,500 visitors in 2021 to 3,800 visitors in 2024, generating multiplier effects across microenterprises such as food stalls, boat rentals, and parking services. These developments have contributed to improved household welfare, stronger community participation, and enhanced local economic resilience. This study contributes to the literature on community-based tourism by providing empirical, village-level evidence of tourism’s socio-economic impacts. A key policy implication is the need for stronger regional government support in infrastructure development, capacity building, and facilitation of small enterprises to ensure sustainable and inclusive tourism growth.

The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Mendeley training in improving reference management skills and academic ethics among students in the Sociology Department at Halu Oleo University. Specifically, the research focused on evaluating the impact of the training on students' ability to manage references efficiently and their understanding of academic ethics, particularly in avoiding plagiarism and adhering to proper citation practices. This outreach program involved 50 students, primarily final-year students preparing their theses and research reports. The training program, conducted from November 4 to December 4, 2024, included practical sessions on using Mendeley for reference management, alongside discussions on academic ethics, such as plagiarism prevention and proper citation practices. Data was collected through pre-test and post-test questionnaires, as well as observational analysis during hands-on sessions. The primary outcomes measured were students' understanding of Mendeley, reference management skills, and academic ethics before and after the training. Results showed significant improvements in all areas, with the percentage of students demonstrating a strong understanding of Mendeley, increasing from 30% to 85%, reference management skills from 25% to 80%, and academic ethics awareness from 40% to 85%. The findings underscore the effectiveness of practical, interactive training in enhancing both technical skills and ethical awareness, which can lead to higher-quality academic work. The study highlights the importance of integrating reference management training and academic ethics into community engagement initiatives, with the potential to improve the overall academic integrity of students’ scholarly work.
