Abstract

The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that approximately 972 million people, or 26.4% of the global population, suffer from hypertension, and this figure is projected to rise to 60%, affecting 1.56 billion people by 2025. Of the 972 million people with hypertension, 333 million are in developed countries, and the remaining 639 million are in developing countries, including Indonesia. This study aims to examine the relationship between fast food consumption habits and the incidence of hypertension among young adult women in the Bengkulu City Pasar Ikan Community Health Centre Working Area in 2025. The research method used is analytical observational research with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with a sample size of 69 young adult women. The results of the univariate analysis showed that most of the respondents (65.2%) often ate fast food, and almost half of the respondents (42%) had hypertension. The results of the bivariate analysis showed a relationship between fast food consumption habits and the incidence of hypertension in young adult women (p=0.000). There is a relationship between the habit of eating fast food and the incidence of hypertension in young adult women in the working area of the Pasar Ikan Community Health Centre in Bengkulu City in 2024. The researchers suggest that respondents reduce their consumption of unhealthy fast food, such as foods containing fat and foods high in sodium or salt, which can increase the incidence of hypertension.

Abstract

Lack of parental care for the nutritional status of toddlers during their growth and development period can have a negative impact in the future. This impact will affect their health and can be the initial cause of the incidence of non-communicable diseases in the future. This research is a cross-sectional study that uses simple random sampling technique in calculating the number of respondents and from the calculations obtained the number of respondents is 488 respondents. This study uses a questionnaire as a research tool in which the data tested using logistic regression as a data analysis model. From the biostatistical test, it is known that the factors associated with maternal perceptions are maternal education (AOR: 3.15; 95%CI: 2.03-4.88; p-value: <0.001), knowledge (AOR: 2.35; 95%CI: 1.38-4.01; p-value: 0.002), rate (AOR: 2.08; 95%CI: 1.32-3.26; p-value: 0.001) and income (AOR: 1.99; 95%CI: 1.29- 3.07; p-value: 0.002). From the results of the study, it can be said that the factors that influence the mother's perception of the nutritional status of children under five are mother's education, knowledge, nutritional status, ethnicity and income.

Abstract

According to UNODC data reports in 2023, the number of drug users worldwide is around 296 million people, equivalent to 5.8% of the world's population aged 15-64 years. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between family support and motivation to recover among residents at the Bengkulu Province BNN Rehabilitation Centre in 2025. The research method used was analytical observational research with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used total sampling with a sample size of 45 drug residents at the Bengkulu Province BNN Rehabilitation Centre. The results of the univariate analysis showed that most of the respondents (66.7%) had supportive families, and most of the respondents (73.3%) had high motivation to recover. The results of the bivariate analysis showed a relationship between family support and motivation to recover among residents (p=0.000). There is a relationship between family support and motivation to recover among residents at the Bengkulu Province BNN Rehabilitation Centre in 2025. The researcher recommends that respondents remain focused on recovery and enhance their motivation to recover, and that the BNN Provincial Rehabilitation Centre in Bengkulu adopt an approach towards residents to continuously provide encouragement and motivation in their rehabilitation process.

Abstract

Drug abuse remains a serious problem threatening the younger generation, including university students. The coastal areas of Bengkulu City are vulnerable to drug trafficking due to social and geographical factors. Universities, as educational institutions, have a strategic role in efforts to prevent drug abuse through promotional and preventive activities. This activity aims to detect early drug abuse among students of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Dehasen University Bengkulu, as well as to raise awareness and commitment of the academic community in creating a campus environment free from drugs. The methods for implementing this community service activity include socialization about the dangers of drug abuse, education on the importance of early detection, and urine testing for students of Fikes Dehasen Bengkulu.Urine tests are carried out according to standard procedures using rapid drug test kits. This activity is conducted in a coordinated manner involving lecturers, healthcare workers from the Bengkulu City National Narcotics Agency (BNN), and students as participants totaling 70 people.The results of the activity indicate that out of 70 people who underwent urine testing (early detection), negative results (-) were obtained, which shows that the majority of Fikes Dehasen Bengkulu students are free from drug abuse. The results of education and awareness-raising activities based on the pre-test and post-test show an increase in participants' understanding of the dangers and types of drugs, with the average pre-test score being 62 and an increase in participants' knowledge to an average post-test score of 82.Conclusion: the community service activity of the campus drug-free movement (Bersinar) through urine testing on students of Fikes Dehasen Bengkulu ran smoothly and provided positive benefits for the participants.This activity is effective in supporting efforts to prevent drug abuse and strengthening the commitment of the academic community to creating a healthy, safe, and drug-free campus. Similar activities are recommended to be carried out continuously as part of promotive and preventive programs in higher education institutions.

Abstract

Motivation is the drive that arises within a person to do something in order to achieve organizational goals and fulfill needs. Nurse performance is influenced by a person's abilities, rewards, length of service, and relationships within the organization (Srsaid Suni, 2018). Nurse performance affects patient safety and satisfaction. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the work motivation of health human resources at the Kerkap Community Health Center UPTD. This study was conducted from June 23 to 25, 2025, using a cross-sectional design. The population in this study consisted of all human resources at the Kerkap Community Health Center UPTD in North Bengkulu Regency, totaling 56 respondents, using total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. The results showed that almost all respondents were over 30 years old, totaling 44 respondents (78.5%), almost all respondents were female (91.07%), almost half of the respondents were contract workers (42.85%), had a D3 education (87.8%), and had worked for more than 5 years (56.1%). In addition, 41.07% of respondents had low motivation, 60.71% received low rewards, and 53.57% showed poor performance.Recommendation:To improve supervision of human resources through monitoring and evaluation of all health service activities.

Abstract

Hypertension is a dangerous disease known as the silent killer because it is often asymptomatic but can cause serious complications such as heart disease and stroke. High cholesterol levels can worsen the condition of hypertension by increasing the risk of atherosclerosis and blood vessel damage (WHO, 2023). Data from the East Ring Health Center in 2024, the estimated number of hypertension patients aged ≥ 15 years will reach 517 people, consisting of 273 men and 244 women (East Ring Health Center, 2024). The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between diet and physical activity on cholesterol levels in patients with hypertension in the working area of the East Ring Health Center, Bengkulu City in 2025. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with a Cross Sectional design. Purposive sampling technique. The research sample of Hypertensi patients in the Working Area of the East Ring Health Center of Bengkulu City with a total of 53 respondents was calculated using the Slovin formula. Data analysis was carried out by chi-square test with a significance level of 95% using SPSS 22 Software. The results of the univariate analysis showed that of the 53 respondents, most of them had a diet in the bad category as many as 27 respondents (50.9%), physical activity in the light category as many as 28 respondents (52.8%), and cholesterol levels

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious communicable disease that remains a public health problem, including in Bengkulu City. One behavioral factor suspected to contribute to the incidence of pulmonary TB is smoking behavior. This study aimed to examine the association between smoking behavior and the occurrence of pulmonary TB among active smokers at Telaga Dewa Community Health Center, Bengkulu City, in 2025.This study employed a quantitative design with a case–control approach. The study population comprised all visitors aged over 15 years registered at Telaga Dewa Community Health Center, Bengkulu City. A total of 66 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The research instruments included a smoking behavior questionnaire and data on pulmonary TB incidence based on medical diagnoses. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analyses, with the Chi-square test applied at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that the majority of respondents exhibited heavy smoking behavior (33.3%), and more than half of the respondents had pulmonary TB (54.5%). The Chi-square test yielded a p-value of 0.021 (≤ 0.05), indicating a statistically significant association between smoking behavior and the incidence of pulmonary TB among active smokers at Telaga Dewa Community Health Center, Bengkulu City. The study concludes that there is a significant relationship between smoking behavior and the occurrence of pulmonary TB among active smokers. It is recommended that the community health center strengthen health education regarding the dangers of smoking and implement pulmonary TB prevention efforts through the promotion of healthy lifestyle behaviors.

Abstract

Adolescents are an age group vulnerable to emotional disorders due to physical, psychological, and social changes (WHO, 2020). One factor suspected of contributing to the emergence of emotional disorders in adolescents is online gaming addiction. Excessive online gaming use can affect emotional regulation, increase anxiety, and impact behavior and academic achievement. This study aims to determine the relationship between online gaming addiction and emotional disorders in adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Bengkulu City in 2025. This study used an analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population was all students at SMA Negeri 1 Bengkulu City, with a sample size of 90 respondents drawn using a purposive sampling technique. The research instruments were an online gaming addiction questionnaire and an emotional disorders questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate methods, using the Chi-Square statistical test at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that the majority of respondents had a level of online gaming addiction, with frequencies ranging from 0 = ≤40%, 1 = 41-70%, and 2 = ≥71%. Respondents also experienced emotional disturbances with a frequency of 0 = Normal (0-16), 1 = Borderline (17-33), 2 = Abnormal (34-50). The results of the Chi-Square statistical test showed a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between online gaming addiction and emotional disturbances in adolescents. Adolescents with high levels of online gaming addiction had a greater risk of experiencing emotional disturbances than adolescents with low levels of addiction. The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant relationship between online gaming addiction and emotional disturbances in adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Kota Bengkulu in 2025. An active role is needed for schools, families, and health professionals in preventing and controlling online gaming use to maintain adolescents' emotional health.

Abstract

Menarche is the first menstruation that marks the maturity of the reproductive system in adolescent girls. Changes in adolescent lifestyle, such as a diet high in fat and sugar, low physical activity, and irregular sleep patterns, are thought to affect the timing of menarche. An unhealthy lifestyle can affect the balance of reproductive hormones. This study aims to determine the relationship between lifestyle and the occurrence of menarche among female students at SMP Negeri 02 Kota Bengkulu in 2025. This study uses a correlational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 209 seventh-grade female students, with a sample of 68 respondents selected using proportional stratified random sampling. Data collection used a questionnaire on lifestyle and the occurrence of menarche. Data analysis was performed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that most respondents had a healthy lifestyle (38 students, 55.9%) and 38 students (55.9%) had experienced menarche. The Chi-Square test yielded a p-value of 0.019 (p ≤ 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between lifestyle and the occurrence of menarche. It is recommended that schools improve reproductive health education and the implementation of a healthy lifestyle. Adolescent girls are expected to maintain a healthy diet, physical activity, and sleep patterns to support optimal reproductive health.
