Abstract

Introduction: Hospital pharmacy services face increasing operational complexity, requiring efficient, adaptive, and data-driven systems. Integrating Lean Thinking (LT) and Visual Management (VM) into Hospital Information Systems (HIS) offers strategic potential to enhance workflow transparency, reduce waste, and improve service quality. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of LT–VM within HIS on service effectiveness, measured through prescription response times, and process efficiency, measured using the Value Added Ratio (VAR) derived from Value Stream Mapping (VSM). Methods: A quantitative case study was conducted in the outpatient pharmacy unit of PKU Muhammadiyah Wonosobo Hospital, Central Java, Indonesia. Secondary data of 55,767 outpatient prescriptions were analyzed (17,373 pre-implementation and 38,394 post-implementation), while primary data were collected through direct workflow observation using VSM. Statistical analysis used the Mann–Whitney U test to assess pre-post differences, while process efficiency was examined through VAR calculations for compounded and non-compounded prescriptions. Results: Non-compounded prescriptions showed a significant improvement in response time (p = 0.005), despite a 2.5-fold increase in prescription volume, indicating sustained system performance. Notably, unlike most Lean studies that emphasize waiting-time reduction, the present findings demonstrate that LT–VM–HIS integration primarily contributed to maintaining workflow stability under increased workload. Compounded prescriptions exhibited no significant change (p = 0.424), although reduced variability suggested improved consistency. VSM results showed VAR of 40.08% for non-compounded and 51% for compounded prescriptions, highlighting persistent bottlenecks during workflow transitions and the limited influence of digital interventions on labor-intensive manual tasks. Conclusion: The integration of LT–VM within HIS enhanced process consistency, reduced variability, and maintained operational performance under increased workload. However, manual compounding tasks limited efficiency gains, underscoring the need for hospital-wide Lean digitalization and synchronized scheduling to balance demand and capacity. These findings support the broader application of Lean-based digital transformation to achieve resilient and patient-centered healthcare systems.

Abstract

SARS-CoV-2 remains an endemic challenge in Indonesia, requiring reliable short-term forecasting tools that support informatics, digital epidemiology, and data-driven public health systems. Standard LSTM models, while widely used for epidemic forecasting, face notable limitations such as sensitivity to poor weight initialization, and reduced ability to capture interactions within heterogeneous high-dimensional data—resulting in inconsistent performance. This research introduces ADELMI (Adaptive Deep Learning Metaheuristic Intelligence), a unified hybrid forecasting framework specifically designed not only to enhance forecasting accuracy but also to overcome core weaknesses of traditional LSTM architectures when applied to complex epidemic datasets. ADELMI integrates Mutual Information and Pearson Correlation for dual feature selection with a hybrid Particle Swarm–Grey Wolf Optimization (PSO–GWO) approach for optimizing LSTM parameters. The dataset includes 657 daily observations and 82 epidemiological, vaccination, and meteorological variables sourced from the Ministry of Health and BMKG (2020–2021). Feature selection reduced the dataset to 20 relevant predictors for recovery and death and one dominant predictor for positive cases. The optimized 50-unit LSTM with early stopping achieved highly accurate 7-day forecasts, producing MAPE scores of 0.01% (positive cases), 1.44% (recoveries), and 3.00% (deaths) across 5-fold cross-validation. These results significantly outperform ARIMA, SIR, and baseline LSTM models. By unifying dual feature selection with hybrid PSO–GWO optimization, ADELMI improves LSTM stability, weight initialization, and multivariate interaction modeling, delivering more reliable forecasts across heterogeneous datasets. This advancement strengthens informatics through DL-metaheuristic multivariate epidemic modeling and enables proactive, adaptive surveillance against evolving threats such as influenza hybrids.

Abstract

The ability to create high-quality, accurate working drawings is one of the most essential skills in industrial construction. Working drawings that do not meet standards can lead to errors in project implementation, increase costs, and extend project timelines. Currently, learning at SMK Negeri 2 Dumai focuses more on mastering design software, with insufficient emphasis on creating working and as-built drawings. As a result, students do not yet have adequate skills to develop complete technical documents that meet industry standards. The purpose of this activity is to help students and teachers clearly understand the activities to be carried out and to commit to actively participating in each stage of the program. The program implementation method includes five main stages: socialization, training, technology application, mentoring and evaluation, and program design. Each stage is carried out systematically to improve students' understanding and skills in creating plan drawings, working drawings, and as-built drawings. The results were obtained from 45 students who attended the entire session. Most students could correctly answer basic questions about the technical drawing document cycle. The accompanying teacher stated that the material had never been systematically presented in school before. This activity provides a strong conceptual understanding of the importance of technical drawings in construction projects. Students of SMK Negeri 2 Dumai can now identify the differences in the functions of each technical drawing and understand the roles of the parties involved in its preparation.
