Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication patterns between parents and migrant children in the digital era and their impact on emotional connection between both parties. Digital technology provides an opportunity for parents and children to stay connected despite being separated by distance; however, the intensity of communication plays a crucial role in shaping the quality of this relationship. This research was conducted on migrant students living in dormitories at Pattimura University using a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that migrant children who frequently communicate with their parents feel more emotionally connected, experience less loneliness, and are able to develop independence and new experiences. Conversely, students with lower communication intensity tend to feel lonelier but view this as a coping strategy to stay focused on their lives away from home. Some students reported that excessive communication with parents could trigger excessive longing and a strong desire to return home. The novelty of this study lies in understanding how digital technology serves not only as a communication tool but also as an emotional bridge for families separated by distance. This study recommends that further research explore the psychological and social aspects of communication intensity and its impact on the emotional well-being of migrant children. The findings contribute to the development of social sciences and humanities, particularly in understanding the dynamics of family communication in the digital era.

Abstract

Executive functions (EF) play a key role in child development. However, Thai parents’ knowledge and practice skills for their children’s EF are still limited. This study aimed to explore the lived experiences of Thai parents in developing their children’s EF skills in a semi-rural sociocultural context. The theme pattern was interpreted using the Heideggerian hermeneutic phenomenological approach, and the themes were reflected in Van Manen’s fundamental existential themes of the life world. As many as 16 parents were selected using the purposive sampling method. Semi-structured interviews were conducted. The results of this study revealed seven themes: 1) strong resilience, self-confidence, and responsibilities; 2) challenges in handling misbehaving family members and children with poor self-control; 3) living in a natural and peaceful environment; 4) staying away from terrible things; 5) practicing time management; 6) trying to use the mobile phone safely; and 7) organizing belongings and toys. In conclusion, nurses can help parents to increase their children’s EF skills by strengthening parents’ resilience, self-confidence, and responsibilities; supporting parents and co-parents to deal with terrible situations; time management; and preparing a safe, green, and natural environment for children to develop their EF skills.

Abstract

Abstract: Technological developments in the 4.0 era had a negative influence on the character of students, so that continuous efforts were needed through strengthening the Pancasila character, as a solution to the degradation of student character. The negative influence of technology has led to many cases related to sexual crimes, as a result of social media exposure has become a major threat for elementary school children. This study aims to analyze qualitatively the values of Pancasila which can provide character strengthening for elementary school students to prevent the negative influence of social media, especially cases of sexual crimes. This study uses a qualitative method of literature study. The results of the study show that strengthening the character of Pancasila values, namely the character values of faith, piety to God Almighty and noble character have the potential to prevent sexual crimes originating from social media.

Abstract

This research will analyze the cultural values and local wisdom of the Minang ethnic group contained in the short story "Tsunami" by Ismalinar. This research uses an interpretive qualitative descriptive method with a literary anthropology approach. The focus of the analysis rests on local cultural values, both expressed and implied, by looking at the principle of benefit in the lives of Minang people and its impact as an enricher of national culture as a common property. The analysis data comes from literature studies, namely in the form of narrative text and dialogue between characters in the short story. The data analysis technique uses narrative analysis techniques. The findings from this research show that first, the language system in this short story contains several Minang vocabulary words that are synonymous with Indonesian; second, the knowledge system is knowledge of oneself, knowledge of people, knowledge of nature, and knowledge of God; third, the religious system is obedience in worship; fourth, the art system and livelihood system are not depicted in the short story; fifth, the technological system is the form of a gadang house; seventh, the social organization system is matrilineal and customary in consensus. All of this is certainly useful and can be a positive intake for students or the younger generation in strengthening the character of the nation's children.

Abstract

Indonesian citizens in the Sebatik Island area, the Indonesia-Malaysia border, have generally received their basic needs from Tawau, Malaysia, for a long time. This is indicated to have formed a dual nationalism mentality of Indonesian citizens in the region, which also affects some of the children of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia who live on Sebatik Island and place their national loyalty to those who benefit their lives. The purpose of this activity is to strengthen the values of nationalism and defend the country to the children of Indonesian migrant workers on Sebatik Island to face the decadence of nationalism and prevent foreign infiltration through the country's border areas. The method used in community service begins with analyzing the community situation, identifying problems, and determining specific work goals, problem-solving plans and social approaches. The result of this activity is the implementation of a program to strengthen nationalism and defend the country for the children of Indonesia migrant workers whose parents work in Malaysia through counselling and socialization with competent resource persons in their fields and a community of Sebatik Young citizens has been formed as a forum for self-actualization.

Abstract

A sense of nationalism is necessary not only for Indonesian citizens living in the country but also for those living outside Indonesia. This is needed to foster further a sense of nationalism and love for the country for Indonesian citizens living outside Indonesia, including Indonesian citizens living in Malaysia. The purpose of this community service activity is to strengthen the nationalism values of Indonesian citizens living in Malaysia by utilizing the Pancasila educational game media. The target of this activity is Indonesian children living in Malaysia. The method implemented in this activity is to provide socialization and training on the utilization/application of Pancasila Educational Game Media. Based on these activities, the results obtained showed that the children were enthusiastic in utilizing the Pancasila educational game media which helped improve their understanding of the values of nationalism by utilizing the Pancasila educational game media.

Abstract

Weak faith in children can stem from inadequate faith education within the family, leading to problematic behaviors such as klithih (youth violence involving sharp weapons), school brawls, and early marriages in Yogyakarta, which often result in domestic violence and early divorce. This study focuses on understanding Surah Luqman verses 12–19, which narrate Luqman's guidance to his son on faith. The research aims to: (1) explore the importance of children's faith education within the family, (2) identify effective methods for instilling faith in children, and (3) examine factors influencing faith education. Using a literature review approach, this study analyzes the selected verses through content analysis. The findings conclude: (1) Faith education in the family is crucial, as emphasized in verse 12; (2) verse 13 suggests instilling faith through advice against shirk (associating others with God) and encouraging respect for parents; (3) Factors influencing faith education include parental example, determination in educating children, polite and effective communication, the surrounding environment, and the embodiment of noble character in daily life. This research provides valuable insights for parents to foster a harmonious family through effective faith education.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis metode dan pendekatan dalam tafsir bi al-matsur (tafsir berdasarkan sejarah) dalam tinjauan kronologis sejarah penafsiran Al-Qur'an. Tafsir Al-Qur'an merupakan disiplin ilmu yang sangat penting dalam memahami makna dan pesan yang terkandung dalam teks suci Al-Qur'an. Dalam kajian ini akan melihat perkembangan metode dan pendekatan yang digunakan dalam tafsir bi al-matsur yang mengacu pada penafsiran berdasarkan sejarah dan tradisi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan sejarah dan analisis literatur. Kajian ini melibatkan pengumpulan data dari berbagai sumber primer dan sekunder, termasuk kitab-kitab tafsir klasik dan kontemporer, serta literatur sejarah tentang tafsir Al-Qur'an. Data yang terkumpul akan dianalisis secara kronologis untuk melihat evolusi metode dan pendekatan dalam tafsir bi al-matsur dari waktu ke waktu. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman yang lebih baik mengenai perkembangan dan variasi metode dan pendekatan dalam tafsir bi al-matsur. matsur sepanjang sejarah penafsiran Al-Qur'an. Secara kronologis, penelitian ini akan mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis berbagai pendekatan yang digunakan para mufasir dari berbagai periode, serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perubahan tersebut. Hal ini juga dapat memberikan landasan bagi penelitian lebih lanjut di bidang ini, serta memberikan kontribusi terhadap kajian tentang sejarah penafsiran Al-Qur'an dan pengembangan metode dan pendekatan dalam tafsir bi al-matsur. Dengan pemahaman yang lebih baik terhadap sejarah dan tradisi penafsiran Al-Qur'an, kita dapat memperkaya pemahaman kita terhadap pesan-pesan Al-Qur'an dan menerapkannya secara relevan dalam konteks perkembangan zaman.

Abstract

This study aims to strengthen several aspects of religious character in children through the learning method of reading the Ummi Al-Qur'an. The research method used is a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis of a number of children who participated in learning to read the Qur'an with the Ummi method in private homes. In addition, data were also obtained from parents or guardians of students, teaching teachers, and related literature. The results showed that learning to read the Qur'an with the Ummi method in private homes has a positive influence on strengthening children's religious character in Probolinggo City. This approach not only emphasizes on fluent reading skills, but also on deep understanding and full application of Islamic teaching. This approach has proven effective in overcoming some of the obstacles that arise in the process of learning the Qur'an, such as difficulties in reciting fluently, lack of understanding of religious material, lack of motivation, and lack of knowledge about religious aspects. This research makes a positive contribution to the development of Qur'an learning methods that focus more on strengthening children's religious character in the family environment.

Abstract

The article aims to empower the Children of Asnaf Komuniti Sungai Nibong through the Ablution and Prayer Seminar Program as a Representation of Strengthening the Islamic Faith in Improving the Quality of Life. As a representation of the strengthening of the Islamic faith, the International Community Service Program in 2024 participants want to contribute to providing an education and learning platform to the community around the place of service, or more precisely, to children who do not yet have emotional maturity so that they are very vulnerable to being carried away by negative things due to globalization. Therefore, in this case, the International Community Service Program in 2024 participants will hold an Ablution and Prayer Seminar Program as a forum to re-strengthen the Islamic faith of children in Pulau Pinang, Malaysia. The Ablution and Prayer Seminar Program was held at Pangsapuri Wakaf Siti and Hajjah Norijah with the children of Asnaf Kominiti Sungai Nibong. The Ablution and Prayer Seminar itself is one of the flagship work programs of the International Community Service Program in 2024 participants as an effort to empower children as well as a form of community service which is expected to be helpful and have a positive impact on the residents of Pulau Pinang Malaysia, especially for the children of Asnaf Kominiti Sungai Nibong. The Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach is used with Participatory and Collaborative service implementation methods. The result of community service through the holding of the Ablution and Prayer Seminar Program is that it can further improve the quality of life for children of Asnaf Komuniti Sungai Nibong in Pangsapuri Wakaf Siti and Hajjah Norijah Pulau Pinang, Malaysia.

Abstract

Abstract Children born to families of illegal Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) do not have access to education in Malaysia. Their limited bargaining power due to the absence of administrative documents results in these children being unable to receive proper education. The Sanggar Bimbingan (Guidance Studio) has become a non-formal education unit that provides basic life skills for these children. However, the implementation of Sanggar Bimbingan faces many challenges, such as the limited number of professional teachers, non-conducive learning environments, and scarce learning materials. Another issue is the limited knowledge about Indonesia as their homeland, posing a risk of eroding their Indonesian identity, particularly the values of Pancasila. This community service initiative aims to strengthen Pancasila Character through a project-based approach rich in cultural values. The activities were carried out at Sanggar Bimbingan Al Amin, Malaysia. The results show that the Pancasila Student Profile Project with the global diversity dimension was successfully achieved. This achievement is demonstrated by the learners' ability to name various traditional Indonesian clothing (C1-Remembering), group traditional clothing based on similarities in attire and ornaments used (C2-Understanding), identify characteristics of one of the chosen traditional outfits (C3-Applying), and explain to their peers about the selected traditional clothing (C4-Analyzing).   Abstrak Anak-anak yang lahir dari keluarga tenaga kerja Indonesia (TKI) ilegal tidak memiliki akses pendidikan di Malaysia. Rendahnya daya tawar karena ketiadaan dokumen administratif, mengakibatkan anak-anak ini tidak dapat menerima pendidikan yang layak. Sanggar Bimbingan telah menjadi unit pendidikan nonformal yang menyelenggarakan keterampilan dasar hidup bagi anak-anak ini. Namun, penyelenggaraan Sanggar Bimbingan menghadapi banyak tantangan, seperti terbatasnya jumlah guru profesional, lingkungan belajar yang tidak kondusif, dan terbatasnya bahan belajar. Permasalahan lain yang muncul ada terbatasanya pengetahuan mengenai Indonesia sebagai tanah air mereka. Hal ini menghadirkan risiko terkikisnya karakter Indonesia, terutama nilai-nilai Pancasila. Inisiatif pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat Karakter Pancasila melalui pendekatan berbasis projek yang kaya akan nilai budaya. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Sanggar Bimbingan Al Amin, Malaysia. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan Projek Profil Pelajar Pancasila dengan dimensi kebhinekaan global berhasil dicapai. Ketercapaian ini ditunjukkan dengan kemampuan peserta didik dalam menyebutkan ragam Pakaian Adat Indonesia (C1-Mengingat),  mengelompokkan pakaian adat berdasarkan kemiripan busana dan perhisasan yang digunakan (C2-Memahami),  mengidentifikasi ciri-ciri dari salah satu pakaian adat yang dipilih (C3-Menerapkan), dan  menjelaskan kepada teman mengenai pakaian adat yang dipilih. (C4-menganalisis).
