Abstract

Kapok is one of the commodities derived from the randu tree. Kapok (ceiba pentandra) is a plant that grows well in both large and narrow land. Randu trees in East Java grow well and are quite large in production. One of the cities in East Java such as Pasuruan is the center of high quality kapok production.  One of the companies in East Java that is engaged in the export of kapok commodities on a large scale is CV. Media Mitra Indonesia. This company has been carrying out export activities since 2014. The objectives of this study are to: (1) Analyze the causes of fluctuations in export volume, and (2) Analyze the effect of kapok price and exchange rate on export volume. The data collection technique used documentation, collecting data from existing archives. The causes of export volume fluctuations are analyzed descriptively, namely by explaining the factors that cause volume fluctuations in detail based on data that has been obtained from the company. The effect of price and exchange rate on export volume was analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis with SPSS 22. The results showed that volume fluctuations were caused by the price of kapok and the exchange rate. The price of kapok has a significant positive effect on export volume. This means that if the price of kapok is high, the company will increase the amount of production, and vice versa. Meanwhile, the exchange rate has a significantly negative effect on export volume. This means that if the exchange rate decreases, sales will also decrease, and vice versa.

Abstract

Broiler chicken meat is one of the highly sought-after food commodities in Indonesia. However, the price of broiler chicken meat at the consumer level tends to fluctuate. This indicates that issues within the distribution pattern of broiler chicken meat. The distribution pattern of broiler chicken meat is closely related to market integration. Therefore, a study is conducted to examine the market integration of broiler chicken meat at both the farmer and retailer levels. The data used in this study consists of monthly time series data spanning five years from January 2018 to December 2022. The study on the market integration of broiler chicken meat employs the analysis of the Index of Market Connection (IMC). Based on an IMC value of 0.4767 and β2 of 0.755, it can be concluded that the market integration of broiler chicken meat at the farmer and traditional market levels falls under strong long-term integration. The price transmission elasticity for broiler chicken meat in this study is 0.812, where ET < 1 indicates that the rate of change in the price of broiler chicken meat at the farmer level is smaller or slower than the rate of change in the price of broiler chicken meat at the retailer level in traditional markets. In other words, a 1% increase in price at the retailer level would only result in a 0.81% change in price at the farmer level. This suggests that the marketing system for broiler chicken meat in traditional markets in Indonesia is still considered inefficient.

Abstract

Food is a fundamental necessity in our lives, yet many households face challenges in accessing sufficient and nutritious food, leading to food insecurity issues. The problem of food insecurity can occur even in food-producing areas, such as the coastal areas of Demak Regency. This research was undertaken to determine the sociodemographic and socioeconomic factors influencing poor household food security status in the coastal areas of Demak Regency. This study utilizes a survey-based approach, with sub-district samples selected purposively based on the highest number of poor households, as identified in the 2023 Targeting Data for the Acceleration of Extreme Poverty Eradication (P3KE) in Demak Regency. The sample areas included Sayung District and Bonang District. Household samples were chosen through multistage random sampling, resulting in a total of 104 households. Both primary and secondary data were used, collected through observation, literature study, and interviews using open and closed questionnaires. Data were analyzed employing multiple linear regression analysis performed with SPSS. The findings of the study show that the factors which have a significant influence (p<0.05) on food security conditions (Y) in poor households in coastal areas, namely: meat expenditure, rice expenditure, rice price, food expenditure share, meanwhile the factors that don't have significant influence (p>0.05) are mother' formal education, energy consumption level, and mother' age. The R² value of 0.689 means that approximately 68.9% of the variation in the dependent variable is explained by the independent variables in the regression model.

Abstract

The production risks of rose petals posed challenges faced by farmers in maintaining the quality and quantity of flower production. This study aimed to analyze the sources of production risk, the priority risk agents, and the implementation of risk mitigation strategies. The research was conducted in October - November 2024 in Desa Candi, Bandungan District, Semarang Regency, Central Java. The research method used was a case study approach, with a census technique used for sampling. The sampling for this study involved 17 rose petal farmers in Desa Candi, Bandungan District. Primary data collection methods included observation and interviews, while secondary data included production data from each harvest period, along with literature from previous researchers. Descriptive analysis was performed using the ARP formula, while quantitative analysis applied Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and House of Risk (HOR) methods, phases one and two. Based on the analysis results KV poin is 0,4491, that the highest production risk was roses and stems attacked by pests and diseases, with a severity value of 5.35. The highest occurrence value was recorded for fruit and trees attacked by pests and diseases, with a value of 6.41. Five risk agents were identified as priorities: increased pests and diseases, fruit and trees attacked by pests and diseases, suboptimal pest and disease management, rose tree mortality/reduction, and extreme or unpredictable weather changes. Five risk mitigation strategies were identified, including routine spraying and increasing pesticide doses, which proved very effective in reducing pest attacks and maintaining plant quality. Farmers adopted mechanical and chemical control methods for pest management, as well as monitoring and replanting as responses to unpredictable weather conditions.

Abstract

The risk management process begins with identifying potential risks that may occur in a business. Greenhouse X is an urban farming enterprise in Bandung City whose supply of water spinach (kangkung) has not been able to optimally meet market demand. Greenhouse X also partners with other farmers to help fulfill supply needs, but supplier partners are often inconsistent in meeting supply demands. There are risks in water spinach production that lead to uncertainty in supply quantity, which can harm the business. This research aims to analyze production risk events in hydroponic water spinach at Greenhouse X and its supplier partners. The study uses a qualitative design with a case study method analyzed descriptively. The results identify 19 production risk events with varying severity levels. The highest-risk events with a serious impact (Si=9) are plant death during growth and root rot. Other high-impact risks include harvest delays and unmet product quantity were identified as having extreme impacts (Si=8).

Abstract

The presence of oil palm plantations is known to have had a good economic impact on the region. However, on the other hand, it causes the dependence of farming households in rural areas on this single commodity. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of dependence of farming households in villages on oil palm farming income and the factors that affect it. To measure dependency we use a quantitative method with logistic regression. The data used consisted of primary data and secondary data. Primary data was obtained by interviewing 93 oil palm farmers. The results of the study show that the average dependence of farmer households on oil palm farming income reaches around 60%. This high dependence creates vulnerability when there is an income shock due to fluctuations in palm oil prices. The factors that significantly affect the dependence on oil palm income are the area of oil palm land and the variety of types of jobs owned by farmer households.

Abstract

Tapung Subdistrict is one of the subdistricts with the largest broiler population and the largest number of partnered broiler farmers in Kampar Regency. With the increasing market demand for broiler chickens, business opportunities in broiler farming are automatically getting better. The main problems of broiler farming are related to large capital, fluctuations in the prices of farm inputs and outputs, and risks during cultivation. This condition makes farmers have to cooperate with companies to ensure the sustainability of their broiler farming business. This study aims to analyze the level of sustainability of broiler farming and find out what sensitive attributes affect the sustainability of broiler farming in partnership patterns. The research method used is a survey method with a sample size of 5 respondents taken using the purposive sampling method. Data analysis was conducted using Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) through the RAPFISH approach and leverage analysis to determine the most influential attributes. The results showed that overall the broiler farming business partnering with PT Indojaya Agrinusa in Tapung District, Kampar Regency, has a fairly sustainable status. The results of the leverage analysis show that there are 16 sensitive attributes that can affect the sustainability of the 32 attributes used.
