Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a major staple food commodity in Indonesia; however, its productivity often declines due to weed competition, one of which is Ludwigia octovalvis, commonly found in flooded paddy fields. Weed control through weeding practices and the application of appropriate cultivation systems is an important factor in improving rice growth and yield. This study aimed to determine the effects of weeding frequency and cultivation systems on the presence of Ludwigia octovalvis, as well as on the growth and yield of lowland rice. The research was conducted from July to October 2024 using an experimental method with a split-plot design. Conventional cultivation and no-tillage (NT/TOT) systems were used as main plots, while weeding frequency served as subplots, consisting of no weeding (P0), one weeding (P1), two weedings (P2), and three weedings (P3). The results showed that Ludwigia octovalvis began to appear at 60 days after transplanting and did not exhibit significant differences among treatments. The cultivation system and weeding frequency had no significant effect on plant height and tiller number at the early growth stage; however, treatment interactions significantly affected the number of productive tillers. The weight of harvested dry grain did not differ significantly among treatments. Therefore, weeding frequency plays an important role during the vegetative phase, whereas the final rice yield is more strongly influenced by environmental factors and integrated crop management.

Abstract

Memenuhi kebutuhan protein hewani merupakan elemen penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia dan mencegah stunting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis karakteristik sosiodemografis dan membandingkan pola konsumsi ikan nila dan ayam broiler di Kota Banjarbaru. Penelitian ini dilakukan dari bulan Oktober hingga November 2025 di tiga pasar tradisional (Bauntung, Ulin Raya, dan Cempaka) dengan 200 responden yang dipilih melalui pengambilan sampel secara bertahap. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa profil konsumen didominasi oleh perempuan (78,5%) usia produktif dengan tingkat pendidikan tinggi. Ayam broiler ditemukan sebagai kebutuhan yang homogen dan tetap, tidak dipengaruhi oleh struktur keluarga atau pekerjaan. Sebaliknya, ikan nila berfungsi sebagai alat penyeimbang nutrisi, dengan frekuensi konsumsi yang secara signifikan dipengaruhi oleh jenis pekerjaan dan ukuran keluarga. Namun, muncul fenomena unik di mana frekuensi tinggi tidak disertai dengan peningkatan volume atau pengeluaran, kecuali di Pasar Ulin Raya, yang menunjukkan respon anggaran yang signifikan (p=0,042). Hal ini menunjukkan strategi belanja ritel karena kendala praktis pengolahan ikan. Transformasi layanan pasar menuju produk siap masak sangat penting untuk meningkatkan volume konsumsi ikan di daerah perkotaan. Abstract

The objective of this research was to facilitate the advancement of livestock farming that is sustainable by employing a descriptive quantitative methodology. The data used are secondary data that are then tabulated, presented in the form of tables and images, and subsequently analyzed using the Location Quotient (LQ). The research results show that the basis for dairy cattle development is in Sleman Regency, while the non-basis areas are in Bantul Regency, Kulon Progo, Gunung Kidul, and Yogyakarta City. The strategy for developing the dairy cattle base areas is to focus on development in the base areas, ensure the sustainable availability of green fodder and concentrates, implement local government policies, develop livestock groups to enhance knowledge, and have supporting institutions that collaborate. Recommendations require further research on the macro and micro potential in each region.

Abstract

Soybean is one of the economically important crops with continuously increasing demand. However, under Indonesian agroclimatic conditions, drought stress remains a major limiting factor in soybean cultivation systems. This study aimed to evaluate the physiological responses and growth dynamics of edamame soybean under different levels and timing of drought stress in order to identify the most sensitive growth stage and determine the level of drought stress that can still be tolerated without causing significant yield reduction under tropical environmental conditions. The experiment was arranged in a factorial randomized complete block design (RCBD) with two factors. The first factor was drought stress level, consisting of four levels: 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25% of field capacity. The second factor was the timing of drought stress application, consisting of four stages: no stress, active vegetative stage, early flowering stage, and pod filling stage. Each treatment combination was replicated three times, resulting in 48 experimental units. The observed parameters included relative water content (RWC), leaf chlorophyll content, plant height, leaf area, total dry weight, relative growth rate (RGR), net assimilation rate (NAR), number of flowers per plant, number of pods per plant, and pod weight per plant. The results showed that drought stress level and timing significantly affected physiological responses (RWC and chlorophyll content), plant morphology (plant height), and showed significant interactions on generative parameters (yield components) of edamame soybean. Mild drought stress (75% field capacity) applied during the vegetative stage still maintained relatively high RWC, number of flowers, number of pods, and pod weight per plant, indicating a greater tolerance to drought stress compared with other treatment combinations. Total dry weight, relative growth rate, and net assimilation rate began to decline from the rapid vegetative growth phase toward the early reproductive stage.

Abstract

Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) is a high-value horticultural crop whose productivity is strongly influenced by light intensity, particularly in lowland agroecosystems such as Karawang characterized by high temperature and solar radiation. This study aimed to evaluate the physiological responses of several shallot varieties under different shading levels. The experiment was conducted using a Split Plot Design with two factors: shading intensity (0%, 40%, and 65%) and varieties (Bima Brebes, Bauji, and Tajuk). Observed parameters included leaf color, chlorophyll content (SPAD), leaf area, leaf area index, fresh and dry leaf weight, root length, transpiration rate, and relative water content (RWC). The results showed significant interaction between shading and variety on leaf color and chlorophyll content at several observation stages. Increasing shading intensity significantly reduced SPAD values in Bima Brebes and Tajuk, while Bauji exhibited greater chlorophyll stability under shaded conditions. Shading reduced photosynthetic efficiency due to limited light availability, leading to lower biomass accumulation. In contrast, no shading resulted in the highest chlorophyll content, particularly in the Tajuk variety. This study concludes that physiological responses of shallot are influenced by genotype–environment interaction, with no shading providing the most optimal physiological performance.

Abstract

Red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) is a horticultural commodity with high economic value that is generally propagated through stem cuttings. The success of the nursery is greatly influenced by the composition of the planting medium and the balance of growth regulators. This study aims to analyze the effect of various planting medium compositions and the application of bean sprout extract on the growth of red dragon fruit stem cuttings. The study was conducted in Panton Krueng Village, Aceh Jaya, from May to August 2025 using an RBD with four media treatments and six replications. The parameters observed included shoot emergence time, shoot number, and shoot height at 60 dap. The results showed that the soil + sand + compost (1:1:1) medium provided the best response with accelerated shoot emergence (30.2 days), the highest number of shoots, and the highest shoot height (18.6 cm). This combination improves aeration, drainage, and nutrient availability, thus supporting optimal vegetative growth. Shoot growth was strongly positively correlated with the number of shoots, while shoot height was strongly negatively correlated with the time of shoot emergence. These findings indicate that a balanced mixed medium based on organic and mineral materials, along with the application of natural PGRs, has the potential to increase the efficiency and sustainability of the dragon fruit nursery system.

Abstract

Hanjeli atau jali-jali merupakan salah satu jenis serealia tanaman obat sumber antioksidan dan juga potensial dikembangkan sebagai bahan pangan alternatif. Hanjeli toleran terhadap cekaman kekeringan dan genangan. Sumber daya genetic hanjeli merupakan bahan dasar penting dalam program pemuliaan tanaman. Keragaman genetik hanjeli dapat ditingkatkan melalui mutasi induksi dengan iradiasi sinar gamma. Mutasi dapat menyebabkan perubahan sifat-sifat genetik yang dapat diwariskan. Penelitian studi radiosensitivitas dan analisis keragaman hanjeli hasil induksi mutasi iradiasi sinar gamma dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui dosis LD50 dan keragaman genotype mutan putatif hanjeli. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni – November 2023 di Kebun Percobaan Agroteknologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta yang berada pada ketinggian 25 m dpl. Induksi mutasi benih hanjeli dilaksanakan di BRIN. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Kelompok Lengkap Teracak (RKLT). Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan mengiradiasi benih hanjeli pada dosis 0, 300, 450, 600, 750 dan 900 Gy, setiap dosis diulang empat kali. Masing-masing dosis terdiri dari 25 benih. Peubah yang diamati meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah anakan diamati pada saat tanaman berbunga. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai LD50 hanjeli adalah 324.09 Gy, induksi mutasi iradiasi sinar gamma dapat meningkatkan keragaman pertumbuhan tanaman hanjeli.

Abstract

Edamame is a high-value vegetable soybean commodity with promising export prospects. Sustainable cultivation practices are needed to support its production, including the use of environmentally friendly organic fertilizers. One alternative is liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) derived from cherry leaves, which contain essential nutrients and bioactive compounds beneficial for plant growth. This study evaluated effects of different doses of LOF for growth and yield of edamame. Experiment was conducted from March to May 2025 at Faculty of Agriculture experimental field. A Randomized Complete Block Design with five treatments, five replications was applied. Treatments consisted of an inorganic fertilizer control and cherry leaf LOF at doses of 20, 40, 60, and 80 mL/plant. Observed variables included plant height, branches, flowering, number of pods, and pod weight. Data were subjected to analysis of variance at a 5% significance level. Results indicated that different LOF doses did not significantly affect any observed growth or yield parameters. Nevertheless, LOF doses of 40 mL/plant consistently produced highest values for plant height, branch number, flowering earliness, pod number, and pod weight. These results show cherry leaf LOF may serve as a promising organic fertilizer alternative, although further studies are required to optimize its application and effectiveness.

Abstract

Budidaya kedelai di lahan marjinal seringkali terhambat oleh kelangkaan air. Salah satu solusi potensial adalah aplikasi Bacillus subtilis, mikroba penghasil ACC deaminase, bersama dengan bahan organik seperti pupuk kandang, dikombinasikan dengan penjadwalan irigasi yang tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh B. subtilis, bahan organik (pupuk kandang dan biochar), dan interval irigasi terhadap pertumbuhan varietas kedelai Anjasmoro. Percobaan dilakukan di rumah kaca yang terletak di Komplek Citra Wisata, Jl. Karya Wisata, Medan Johor, menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Lengkap (RCBD) dengan tiga faktor dan tiga ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah aplikasi mikroba (B. subtilis dan tanpa mikroba), faktor kedua adalah bahan organik (tanpa penambahan, pupuk kandang, dan biochar), dan faktor ketiga adalah interval irigasi (setiap 1, 3, dan 5 hari). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa B. subtilis meningkatkan pertumbuhan vegetatif, aktivitas enzim SOD dan POD, serta kandungan klorofil, tetapi menurunkan hasil biji dan polong. Pupuk kandang meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan hasil panen, sedangkan biochar meningkatkan aktivitas enzim dan panjang akar. Irigasi harian menghasilkan pertumbuhan dan hasil panen terbaik, sedangkan penyiraman setiap lima hari meningkatkan klorofil a dan aktivitas enzim antioksidan
